This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Larger 2020 models starting to appear online. This is the new 3 sided 70" 8 series tv from Philips. Showing from research online as a 10bit MVA panel for those interested.

For this size of TV seems a reasonable price 2000ppi and 3gb ram so should be a snappy android performer - runs android 9 pie.

Still a 60Hz panel for those interested but you are buying a screen of this size real estate for the ambilight immersion lets face it.

If you qualify with your job for the usual employee benefits sites like reward gateway well worth trying - currently 7% on mine and it works fine taking it to £838...

Downsides - OFC:

At this price better panels are available in Sony and Samsung etc - but they lack Ambilight a feature I cannot emphasise enough adds so much to TV enjoyment.

It's not OLED - yes yes move on

Phillips own 65" 8204 model has been on offer for a while at Currys for a fair bit less currently 649 (but been less) so could you live with that if so its a great tv for less?

But if you want the biggest mid range ambilight available with a good panel and snappy android OS due to 3gb ram whats not to like?

I've studied this TV for a good 3 hours, and I'm convinced it is a 4 sided TV.
Yeah I'd maybe give Curry's a swerve considering recent reviews

This is 2020 8 Series!

Wish they did a 75" model with slimmer bezel or a dark silver bezel!

Same price at richersounds I think with longer warranty?

Me too, but all they are doing is the same as the 6754 in 75inch but newer and more expensive. Seems like the same tv. Still saphi too.

Very nice
1) Buy now at top price or wait for it to drop, these will become cheaper.
2) This won't be good enough for HDR.

Looks like it'll be the same price at Richer Sounds when it's in stock.

I can't see 2020 model that just be released coming down in price this year unless retailer wide discount code available.

Perfectly fine for HDR as is my 2019 8204 model

According to currys staff HDR is high definition ready.
They charged a woman almost £100 when she took her broken TV in. Just for them to phone an outside company for a quote.

Madness.

Philips tv's suck. Also.

LG or Samsung from JL or RS.

As long as you are happy with your purchase that is all that really matters.

However these sets are not capable of displaying HDR content correctly with their lack of brightness levels.
Does it support 4D?
The 70PUS8555 makes the most of Dolby technology to improve both sound and images. It supports Dolby Vision for bright colour and contrast, and Dolby Atmos for clear deep sound.
HDR technology boosts colour and contrast from frame to frame, so you'll always enjoy the best possible image.

Was that an actual adult that wrote that?! Possibly the most meaningless description I've ever read

Do you know how many nits it is capable of? The specs seem to be somewhat lacking.

Edit: Some Googling tells me it's 400 nits. That's... disappointing. Something needs to be done about the advertising on TVs like this - how can they list Dolby Vision and HDR10+ when it can only put out 400 nits? It's not made clear that it supports the formats but cannot actually reach the brightness levels to replicate them.

Even the 9 series only gets around 400 nits, I doubt the 8 series gets close to this in the real world.

It should be fine for SDR content, but I would certainly agree that advertising features which the sets cannot really deliver upon should be tackled.
I would be careful with 3gb ram as 2019 models also been marketed with 3gb ram, later it turned out it was 2gb ram. Philips did not take any responsibility as it was 3rd party websites who aka published it as 3gb ram. Could some owners post AIDA report to confirm cpu, gpu,ram and storage?
I might be able to fit it if I take the wall out to the neighbour and share the telly. I hope it does split screen so he can watch something and I can watch something else.

Sonys android is so laggy. I see it too often. But Panasonic, yeah pretty good brand. Definitely has longevity.
Careful with Curry's as they customer service
recently I had one of the most upsetting experience (similar like talk talk )
I bought TV 3weeks ago after 2weeks waiting they cancel it(no reasons given)
I call them (2hours waiting on the line and first time line cut off in a middle conversation🤦) finally when I spoke with them they said they didn't receive delivery them self
Think twice b4 buying from currys
Richer sound giving 6year warranty 😜
