I could be wrong, but I thought the 8GB wasn't 3rd gen. Is it not the 2nd gen, with 16GB being the first of the 3rd gen models.

Whats the difference between the 2nd and 3rd generations?

You would appear to be correct:
apple.com/ipo…ls/

they class the 2nd generation as a 3rd generation when it's firmware has been updated, that's the only difference betweeen the 2.

no, they dropped the 16gb altogether for the 3rd gen - there are now 8, 32, and 64gb models in the 3rd gen.

Voted cold. Sorry, better deals out there. Got one for my parents from Comet a few weeks ago at this price, with a free charger/speaker.

Hasn't it been this price for a few months?

the true third gens (32gb and 64gb and NOT the 8gb) have 50% more processing power among the "minor" tweaks..

2nd Generation Ipod touch 8gb is £115.25 (incl delivery) from electrical-deals.co.uk.
Anybody knows where you can buy them cheaper then that?

I would have to agree even though I posted this deal. There's also a good offer at HMV where you pay £149 and get a free docking station worth £49.99. That's been posted a few above this deal in the new section. That's also seems to be an excellent deal.

been this price for ages on amazon, ive been looking for weeks and its been this price, £10 saving isnt much especially when you can get it from official apple online store with free engraving which imo is worth £10 for a gift

hmv doing free stuff with it
argos has free stuff with it

Yes I know that, it was stated earlier in the replies; the 32gb and 64gb have the same infrastructure as the iphone 3gs, thus a faster processor. The 8gb 3rd gen does not, it merely has updated firmware, so why mention the other models, that aren't being posted as a deal? :whistling:

No it does not, the hardware of the 8gb 2nd gen and the 8gb 3rd gen are exactly the same, only the firmware is different, you are wong.

8GB is not as quick as 32gb or 64gb as it is really a 2nd gen with updated software but the processor is not as quick as 32gb or 64gb so you are better paying extra and getting at least 32gb as 8gb doesnt hold much anyway if you download all your songs at best quality i.e Apple Lossless the 8GB is far too small.

Meh I think 8gb is too small for a device like this personally. I am looking for one or similar for the wife really dont want to buy an apple product.

Better deals out there but for a stand alone point this is the cheapest bit as mentioned has been this price for a while. Great product none the less.

Still think 32gb is the minimum for this sort of device, 8gb does not go for with video.

I know that this may seem unusual but I now agree with the cold voters on this one. When I posted this I genuinely thought that it was a good deal, however looking at other posts there are better deals out there at HMV and Argos (and maybe other places as well). This seems to be the cheapest standalone Ipod touch so if that's all you want then buy it. Otherwise - Please don't!!! There are better deals out there!!!!

An 8gb device in this day and age at this price is simply ridiculous. Not to mention this one is still the 2nd gen hardware with a software update.

These are "graded" refurbs with "non standard headphones" and "scratches on the back"

Nice ! :whistling:
