Not bad... but glad that I got mine from Argos for £115 about a month ago.

this is actiually the older model 2008 with new … this is actiually the older model 2008 with new softwarehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch#Models

'tis true. Only the higher memory models actually got the new processor. Seems that it will only be those that will be allowed to take full advantage of the OS upgrade due later this year e.g multitasking etc. The 8GB model, although termed 3G just got the v3 software. Also the latest version of the software (that no doubt these ship with) can't be jailbroken, although I'd be pleased to be corrected on that one!

if you have 3.1.2 you can jailbreak with redsnow

3.1.3 came out 2/2/2010 so unlikely these were manufactured after the update

Got mine about a week ago and it was 3.1.3.

Which is the best version to buy and how do you check ?

Not sure of what advantage 3.1.3 has over 3.1.2, but I do know that 3.1.3 can't currently be 'jailbroken' i.e. modified to allow it to run apps not officially signed by Apple. I think Wikipedia has a good page on the iPOD, which you may want to look at for more detail.

You can find which version of firmware you're running by looking in the 'settings' menu of the ipod.

Hope that helps.
