Download ad block plus for Android

You have to go to "Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Mobile Data -> Access Point names", select your apn and write in "Proxy" the word "localhost" and in "Port" the number "2020".

Works perfect this app only used to allow blocking of add for wifi

Hope this helps someone , not 100% sure if it is allowed here though

It's good, but the constant updates were more annoying than the ads!

would appear using your instructions that blocks adds over mobile network. to do it over wifi you need to do something similar to the settings in your wifi settings

I select my o2 apn in the mobile data but none of the settings are changeable, they are all greyed out
Anyone help?

I managed to change mine, but I'm on 3. So proxy and port are all greyed out?

I haven't found his to work so well as the desktop version, seems to block logons to certain sites and intermittently most of the contents for other sites. Got bored having to randomly disable it and just uninstalled. Isn't there blocking software that doesn't need to use a proxy?

I support Adblock on Mobile Devices, Web Browsing on the iPad was a nightmare before I setup an Adblocker on it.

Banners force closing safari and opening the app store, Nonstop Javascript redirects, Malicious ads force downloads of their APK, Slowing down the browser, ads that force the message app open in hopes that you accidentally send them a charged SMS, Children's apps abusing in app purchases etc.

Far too much malicious intent with ads on mobile that its best to do away with them entirely. It's a shame when sites/apps that do advertising well get blocked but when a large portion of the adservers pull these dodgy methods its hard to find to much sympathy.

But Adblock are allowing ads through from paying companies.

That sucks, although saying that, I haven't noticed any difference, still getting ads in apps like IMDb and accuweather.

I have a better idea than ABP. Download XBMC media center for your Android / Apple and add the relevant sources. The sources will give you the streams you need to watch live sport, movies and TV shows without ads popping up every 2 minutes.

Also, be aware using ABP is okay sometimes but it messes with your browsing capabilities too and restricts access to some sites. I don't know how but it just does. ABP is not worth downloading, believe me.

Honestly, there is no need for ad blockers now. There are apps out there which are ad free. I can tolerate the little banner ads and those apps with mega sized pop up ads tend to be full of spyware in any case.

Strange, how everyone is worried about NSA who are working for protection, but don't give a bother on AdBlock Plus tracking your personal usage. Not a freebie I would want on my phone, maybe it's just good in a desktop browser.

I think it blocks youtube now which is fantastic?

I have root and the app worked perfect, thanks!

Best way to block ads is through hosts file, needs root/jailbreak though

What proof have you got that Adblock Plus tracks your personal usage?

works well but takes too much memory.

How's this better in comparison to AdAway?

my Internet does not work at all now. unless I turn ad block on? wtf

Will this work in apps too?

uninstalled. been blocking my incoming whatsapp messages
