I think texting "FRESH" works too...

Sounds like a good deal for teenagers - going to sign up my younger sister and see how it goes...

16 - 24? Sounds like discrimination to me.

do they definitely check your age?!

You jest, but i'd go as far as to say it's probably illegal.

hmmm

im suspicious, i just signed up and my account was "cancelled" due to not passing fraud protection ... in the process they took all my details as well as my passport and driving liscence details ...

when i try to email to ask for help, the link is gone, i'm given an 0845 number to phone, if i wish to waste money

i'm suspicious :-/

Im a mature student n got one of these through college. they didnt check my age. only catch I can see is that you get bombarded with adverts. This is why its free. the advertising companies are covering the cost. My 10yr old is using it. no more topping up his phone!

if you do a search on google for 'anyone heard of blyk' then you will get hits from mobile phone forums etc where people have posted their feedback of the scheme.

Appears people have been using it no problem, and one mentioned that even when you go over the eligible age they won't take the card back, you can still keep using it as normal.

yeah, i've had it for a month or two and it's great, i enjoy the adverts as my phone buzzes every now and then making everyone think i'm slightly more popular than i deserve to be, it's great.

errrr......blyk ? :?

i got my sim but i use more than 43 minutes a month so renewed my 02 contract

good deal for a lite user

you made me laugh!:w00t:

i sooooo badly want this sim but i dont want to give out my driving or passport numbers.

any way around this?

They never took my passport or driving license number, I think they only need that if they can't find you on the electoral register

if you get an invite from somebody already with blyk then you dont need to provide passport/driving licence details

The reason they ask driving license number is your DOB is hidden in it in re-arranged digits. Search the net and fake a number and you'll be fine. Not sure if the same applies to passport numbers.

The Catches are:

Adverts (you need to have a phone switched on and receiving them too, they can tell if your receiving them or not)

"Tag" line at bottom of Texts (at the end of every text a little advert telling whoever you texted to join blyk is shown)

Apart from that its a pretty decent deal. Between this and my O2 sim I've got Minutes AND Text covered for £10 a month

If you want it THAT badly, then give them the details. They seem to be a fairly reputable and professional company, and explicitly state that passport/driving license details will not be used for any purpose other than age verification. Giving a fake as suggested by someone else in this thread may lead to problems later on!

I got mine through a school promotion they did, so I didn't have to go down that route, maybe check your school/college/uni?

can anyone with an account send me an invite please

Can someone kindly send me an invite please?

that's all the txts i need!

Thanks!

I have been using BLYK on a second phone for about 3 months! Its really handy and uses orange which is great as orange have signal boosters on trains! I have 5 invite codes for this month! If anyone wants the PM me. I gain nothing by you joining! :whistling:

I signed up and it didnt ask for driving license or passport number and says the sim has been sent out

It won't as they are thinking you're too thick to know your date of birth is hidden in the Driving License number. All they want to know is that the digits in the number match up with the DOB you gave them. They will not and have no permission to check with the DVLA.

oufau.org/Doc…pdf shows how the DOB is hidden, make sure you use the same one you supplied and you will not have any problem.

excluding Northern Ireland

*sigh* b******s.

They are breaking no laws at all.

It's a copmany which runs on advertising, through the mobile network. Now clients advertising through them need to know an age range they will be dealing with.

I'm sure in the future there will be no age restrictions, as they will be easily distribute adverts to match the age of a user.

End of the day, this age range is probably the best to aim at. Will take notice of adverts lots more than the older generations.

Could someone PM me a invite as well please
