This is RRP price and amiibos won't go out of print so not much of a deal here.

Dude, they'll be like £5 at Amazon soon enough. Granted, not on release date.

Are you sure? Whats your information source? Almost none of the existing Mushroom Kingdom amiibo characters have ever been that low a price before. Maybe your thinking of Animal Crossing?

Supply and demand Splash. Post a cheaper price, then we can happily remove this thread... some of these Amiibo's are going to be out of stock quick and hard to find. They will end up selling on ebay for £20 until suitable stock can be provided. Happened before and will happen again.

I don't follow the amiibo craze. But didn't Nintendo change the rarity of their figures now?

I remember there was a time where some amiibo's were worth upto £50.

Then the reprints came in and the craze dropped a lot. I'm unsure if it's changed again, but I barely hear anything about "I want this amiibo."

I'll wait for the sub £4.

They were never rare in the first place. Nintendo told us that certain Amiibo would recieve one run while the staples of the series would remain. This meant that everyone went and grabbed the ones they deemed to be rare, before Nintendo completely went back on what they said and just made more of them. Funnily enough, the slightly rarer ones now seem to be the ones no one expected to be rare such as Mario, Donkey Kong etc...but now they're even making Donkey Kong again.

Ah, that explains the high price at one point.

I only own one amiibo, didn't get into the hype after the original Link.
But have been considering toon Link for a while.

The new DK is not a reprint, it looks very similar granted but its a different pose. Also the last DK Amiibo release was and is rare in English Language. If you have that boxed it will have some decent future value.

eBay is not a good source, the sellers there overcharge so try looking elsewhere. Plus, stop pretending like you don't know that Nintendo's taken care of keeping the amiibos in print and this way their prices will never be as much as they were in the past.

Scalpers had it good for a while but it's over.

"English language" the European and American packages are both in English and with other languages.

Thanks for the heads up OP! I love the glow in the dark feature on boo!!

Rrp is not a 'deal'.

It's the cheapest available and will cost more at the official store when postage is factored in. So he's posted what's probably going to be equal cheapest launch price.

However, I wouldn't expect these to go out of stock any time soon. Demand has dropped drastically for amiibo in the last year.

As others have said RRP is not a hot deal. Same price at Amazon and will be elsewhere too until they stop selling and then they'll be cheaper as with other Amiibo.

Boba Fett on Disney Infinity was going for £50 on eBay pre-Christmas.
He's now a fiver.
Nintendo are going about Amiibo function all wrong.
They don't unlock enough content to justify their price.

It's all about selling it at the right moment. Nintendo's Wii U GameCube adapter was once worth £80 now it's available everywhere for £11-20 depending on the retailer.

They're really not. Their first party games sell high volumes regardless of amiibo. Making amiibo a necessity will likely fragment that existing core audience.

My source? lol.

All of the newer amiibo. Smash, Slatoon and Animal crossing etc have dropped to £5 or below since Nintendo decided to increase supply. The older amiibo, such as the Mushroom Kingdom characters simply didn't drop as there wasn't plentiful supply (though not rare by any means). It's nothing to do with what game they are used for, it's all about supply, and if Nintendo continue the way they have been since...when was it, April/May last year? Then no standard future amiibo will be rare.

this isn't a deal. its rrp?

And now the re-seller market is dead, expect all retailers to stock less. Hence, much less likely we'll see sub £5 on upcoming amiibo.

So you think buying an amiibo and then having to buy the same character in-game in order to play as said character is the right direction for their IP?
I reckon the cold votes say otherwise.
£10 for a branded ornament?
Oh it'll be kept on a shelf -the shop's, not mine.

Think you'll find people vote cold on almost everything that's RRP, only last week someone posted the 2TB white Xbone S was still available for a snip under 350 quid from the Czech or Slovak Microsoft Store and that went ice cold.

Ice cold even though it sold out in the UK within a couple of days of launch and every single one listed on Ebay's being touted at around a monkey, so I'm sorry but cold votes don't necessarily provide an accurate barometer of what is hot at a specific given time.

That said, I've not voted hot on this deal but neither have I voted cold either. Chances are these will go down a bit after a while but playing the waiting game invariably results in one out of six becoming scarce.

Anyway if you buy more than three or four Amiibo in one go from a certain Australian retailer even with the shipping they still work out cheaper than getting them at UK RRP oh and not once have HMRC lobbed an import charge on any of my orders thus far (_;) touch wood

No I think locking too much content behind an amiibo pay wall, which you suggested, is a bad idea. Amiibo shouldn't be necessary to get the full game experience. I think the way they were used in Star Fox Zero is the general principle that should be used in their games, where amiibo acts as a shortcut to some features that can still be accessed by non-amiibo buyers. Otherwise you have a situation where people have to buy a game and x amiibo just to experience a game the way it was designed to be played.

Oh and the cold votes says otherwise? Well, I'm not here to discuss the merits of amiibo and to dry your tears because amiibo isn't directly catered around you, but the fact that Nintendo has generated several billions of pounds of revenue from ornaments tells me they must be doing something right, aye?

Boo at this price

Locking too much content?
Lmfao.

FTR, you don't earn anything from Nintendo by defending them on the internet. It's the equivalent of white knighting for girls you like on fb.

I think this has descended into personal territory and as you have previous (taking offence at an ambiguous generalization), for that reason -I'm out.
Won't be buying these till they're about a fiver and they will go down to about that price in the future.
Good luck in your endeavours.

Amiibos should always be completely optional and never lock away content, make that content unlockable in said game or sell the small DLC on the eShop. Not everyone wants to buy these Happy Meal toys or even care to have them.

Didn't mean to get personal buddy. I could explain to you why £5 prices on these amiibo, and the majority of future amiibo is unlikely to happen, but you seem stubborn in your beliefs so I'll let it sit.

Amiibos aren't worth what they used to be in the past, you're right about that and it doesn't surpass the RRP value ever since Nintendo took charge of making sure they were in control of keeping the toys in print. Even the Mini NES hasn't been sold out, there are plenty of websites people can pre-order from so it won't suffer scalping.

Mini NES might even drop down to £30 months after it's out but that's just a guess seeing how things are with the current-mind Nintendo.

We are not talking about those other genre Amiibo's. We are talking about the Mario Land themed Amiibo's and you have just nullified your point by acknowledging those have never been below £5 or anything like it on Amazon. Even the plain Mario or Luigi's Amiibo's have always held a good price.

Supply & Demand (sorry to reiterate that, but well). Ebay is a good source (so long as a particular item is actually selling at the trending price). And given many retailers don't even stock anything Nintendo now, and that Nintendo can't actually supply many of the existing and current Amiibo's on their own official UK website, I think your well off the mark. If you look at the bigger picture, Marioland is about as popular as it gets.... Boo, Daisy & Waluigi will all be getting snapped up quick and low in supply. You heard it hear first, I guess.

You are confused.

It doesn't matter. Mario, Splatoon, Smash etc.

All of those Mushroom Kingdom amiibo were released at a time when the amiibo craze was in full swing and supply was shorter, even for the more common amiibo. Hence they have held their price. New amiibo are released in such numbers that their is overstock, and as such, their price is eventually reduced. Will this change? Maybe. Retailers will order less or Nintendo will once again supply less. At the moment though, I wouldn't bet on these being 'rare' just because they are Mario. Either way, whatever the opinion, freezing cold deal.
