New HP Chromebook 14 (3G model) with free 2 year HP DataPass and £30 off - £251 @ HP Home/Student Store

HP are now taking orders for the new HP Chromebook 14 (an upgrade to the HP 14 Pavilion Chromebook) - 1 to 2 weeks wait for delivery.

It's currently going for £279 on the consumer site but you get almost £30 off if you buy it through the student store! You'll need a student email address to access the student store.

EDIT - You can also get it through the HP Home Store at £251 if you use the code PP10 (thanks gavcuk)!

*****************************

It has a new Haswell based processor, which is more powerful and less battery hungry. It also comes with 4GB of RAM, which is an improvement over the recent, smaller models. It sports a HD Webcam, which is a nice improvement over the one found in the HP 11.

They are claiming a battery life of over 9 hours, which is a massive improvement on last years model (HP 14 Pavilion Chromebook).

The version on sale appears to be the 3G (or 3G+?) version, which comes with a free HP DataPass, which gives you 250MB of data free each month for 2 years. It's obviously not going to last long if you stream music (or video!) but it provides you with a free and easy way to check and send emails on the go.

Anyway, all in all I think it looks like a great package for the money! Perfect if you want to get onto the Chromebook bandwagon but are not keen on an 11" screen.

The screen unfortunately a downgrade on the 11" I believe, not IPS. If you want to pay £50-70 extra ontop of the Acer of similar spec just larger then is a good deal!

Only 14" chromebook worth buying.

You're right about the screen quality (versus HP 11) but I would say that you're not just paying for a bigger screen, you also get 3G compatibility, which often comes at a bit of a premium!

Plus a better CPU, more RAM and superior battery life.

I have been keeping the HP11 I ordered for the Mrs in a box, just sent it back to Amazon and ordered one of these from HP, I ordered the white one which should be with me on Monday they told me, I believe that is the first one they will be shipping.

I just received my order confirmation and the delivery date is set for Friday, so no significant wait to worry about!

Didn't seem to work for me on the student store, but obviously worth a try!

Doesn't work in the student store but does work in the normal HP Home store. It brings the bring down to £251 (i.e. the same as the student price!).

HD only - so no pixel, hm?

But the datapass is a nice extra. It is hard to find a similar offer, but it should be worth around 20 to 50 pounds.

Probably a good call, considering the 11 got pulled from sale recently due to reports of overheating.

Don't forget 8.4% Topcashback too.... I just ordered 2 of these.... with the PP10 code and TCB is showing a £35.15 credit...

Awesome!!

These will also be replacing the two HP11's that we recently got from Amazon.... (just organised the return of those).... The HP11's are really stylish, cute, nice machines with a screen to die for but I think the HP14's will be better for our kids to use due to the greater screen size (homework etc.) plus the improved performance offered by the Intel Haswell processor, the extra memory and the 3G option make this a far better all round package.

By the way both my HP11's had been opened and initially set up but Amazon have agreed a full refund regardless so thumbs up to them for great customer service.

The HP11 itself hasn't overheated, the issue is with the chargers.... the problem is that they need alot of juice to charge when being used and your average phone/tablet micro USB charger just isn't up to the job... shame because it's otherwise a great little device. I'm sure HP will fix the issue.

thanks op and gavcuk for the pp10 just payed £251 and 8.4% topcashback £17.56 21 weeks before payable.

ARGH!!!! not happy.... HP have cancelled my order.... they think because … ARGH!!!! not happy.... HP have cancelled my order.... they think because I entered a slight difference in my billing address...But conveniently HP are preventing web based sales of the Chromebook now... at least until Tuesday..... the person I spoke to in after sales said she didn't understand it but it was something to do with "discounts"..... so reading between the line I think HP doesn't want to honour the PP10 code.... which is really poorI'd be interested to know if anyone else has had their orders cancelled.

Yep, cancelled my order too-

"Unfortunately we were unable to execute your order, either due to us being unable to verify all of your information, or that there was an error in processing your order. If you have already paid we have arranged for a refund for you and the details of how you will receive this are below."

What a let down. With this and the withdrawal of the Chromebook 11 due to the over heating charger, I'm starting to wonder if HP want to sell any chromebooks this Christmas!

today i went in to currys and asked the manager if they would be selling this chromebook he said no and he said hp had re called the product because of charging problems like the 11 inch chromebook.

Highly unlikely I'd say as the 14 uses a standard brick type charger.... also no reports of faulty 14 chargers that I've seen on the Google+ Chromebooks community.

like you said i have searched the internet no problems there is good reviews on amazon.com and no one reports charging problems.

I think it is a pathetic and deliberate attempt to stop us saving a few … I think it is a pathetic and deliberate attempt to stop us saving a few quid.... they would rather stop us buying them, destroy customer loyalty/confidence, than sell a shedload of machines.

That's exactly what it is. I already had my doubts about buying from HP due to reports of poor customer service and this only confirms my doubts. I was hoping to be able to buy the CB 14 from John Lewis, but the staff at several stores seem to have heard nothing about it. It seems to me that HP have got a great product but they're going about releasing it in the wrong way, they should be aiming at grabbing people who might otherwise be looking at macbook airs at places offering a good customer experience rather than scraping the bottom of the customer service barrel with Very and Littlewoods.

all is not lost look in vouchers there is thread from a mod 15% off december 1st hewlet packard or is it worth the risk.

HP15OFF monday cyber deals hewlet packard.

Nice one... perhaps they have cancelled our orders so that we can get 15% plus TopCashBack.... I doubt it but wouldn't that be the icing on the cake

Thanks for that Allan! We'll have to wait and see if they're going to let anyone buy them on Monday.

i hope they cancel my deal i would rather have the money off the product than wait 21 weeks for topcashback to pay out.

They did tell me earlier on the phone... "don't understand what the problem is, they are none available until Tuesday... we will get someone to call you then"...

It's very strange that the HP 14 is unavailable to order from most places. I'd have thought places like Amazon would allow people to pre-order.

The only other place apart from the HP store that seems to have it listed is Very and that's listed for £249 but has no mention of 3G (and it's only the white colour).

There's a 10% code for new customers at Very so it could potentially be had for under £225

Thanks at least it's an option if things don't work out next week

also 7.35% discount via topcashback for new customers.... if it allows you to combine both offers

Nope ISME also does not include the 10% new credit account discount on computers (it's mentioned in their t&c's)... looks like 10.5% TopCashBack (currently) would apply though

looks like the isme very deal wifi only and you are right busterdan no 10% off.

Ah right. Should have checked the T&C's. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm going to wait and see if there's any offers on the blue version. Hoping more retailers will pick this up soon.

The 15% off code is really good. 15OFFHP. this should work on this too

As predicted, the chromebooks have reappeared now that the discount code has expired!

Spoke to HP they insist the CB14's were out if stock and have just come back in.... I pointed out how it was unusual to prevent orders when they already knew some stock was due... I suggested it is because they did not want to sell them over the weekend and with potential discount codes. Any way they have honoured the 10% pp10 code for me and they (two) should arrive tomorrow or weds.

any other coupons or is this expired?

expired

You can still get it for £251 if you have a student email address and don't mind spending a bit of time messing on the HP website.
