wow it has a big bum!

I was always put off by these because of that exact reason, the 6 cell batteries stick out a mile, same with the Acer.... The Samsung and Sony are much better IMO

good spec and price but the battery just don't look right more looks like a 9 cell

good price. Heat added

sticking-out battery gives it more stability, but quite expensive for a netbook, imo.

Needs more RAM

Have just purchased. Been trying to decide between a laptop and a netbook weighing up all the pros and cons etc.
I got to the fact that I need portability, web, email and MS Office.

Bluetooth, webcam and mic really helped sell this model. Also the 6 cell lithium ion battery that should give 5+ hours constant working.

I also bought the 2GB ram upgrade for £32 extra. I watched a video on youtube and it seems a doddle to do the upgrade.

Can anyone recommend a skin for it?

thanks Nick

My vaio w had a 6-cell which stuck out just as much. Well worth getting a netbook with a big battery imo as it means 6hours+ of life.

It's got a fat R's!!

was going to retract that statement aswell, as my samsung netbook also had one which stuck out. >_> 3Cells dont have that the battery stick out, obviouslly, i feel much more comfortabler having it on my lap

Hmmm, no idea how many cells my daughters NC10 has, but
a) it doesn't stick out, and
b) it lasts for 6 hours minimum (longer when we first got it)

True it was more money, but we've been well pleased with it.

Pop on Ubuntu and OpenOffice for free and these babies will fly!

The 6 cell battery on the Samsungs (at least the N120 i have and the NC10 my friend has) don't stick out at all.

Would you get longer battery life when using Ubuntu rather than XP ?.

Windows 7 spoils it - its utter crap even full 7 isnt anywhere near as good as XP or XP PRO.

Battery is putting me off, else i'd get this one

Probably not, or at least it would be close. Ubuntu however would require quite a bit of messing around to get the power saving working at best. I only use Ubuntu on my Asus 1001P, and it generally does very well on battery. The main advantage is that it's a much more modern OS.

XP was a good operating system, but Windows 7 is so much nicer. It may not be ideal for a netbook, but I'd rather use it or Linux than XP, which just feels old and dated.

Good price

Ubuntu has many advantages over Windows, but battery life is not one of them. Unfortunately at the moment Ubuntu lags behind Windows in power management, it is the one achilles heel of Ubuntu. If raw battery length is all you care about stick with Windows. If general performance is what you care about then Ubuntu runs a lot faster on the same hardware than Windows does.

is this a 1024 x 600 screen, i was looking for a 1366 x 768 scree, i am sick of the 1024 screen i have 2 dell 1010 and its 2 small

Windows 7 is much better than XP, only people with cheap under powerd PCs like XP, XP is 10 years old, it was built for hardware for that time, i rememember win 98 ran better 10 years ago, this is the time for windows 7, even vista sp1 was ok, i never had any issues with vista sp1, and i do alot on the pc, over 14 hours on a normall day.. 7 haters get a better pc, its 2010 so intel pentium 3 days are over

I really like Windows 7 on my full-HD i5-540 - not sure that I'd like it so much on a 1366x768 screen much less on a cheap-underpowered netbook. ;-)

P.S. To answer your earlier question the netbook in this deal has a 1024x600 screen as the OP originally posted.

Having had more trouble with windows 7 than vista. Now using an Ubuntu variant called mint would highly recommend if you're a long time windows user and find it hard to adopt a new OS.
This is the longest Ive stuck with Linux, keeping a very bare windows 7 partition for games only.

How can anyone say that vista is better than XP i will never figure out! XP is the best ever operator..the difference between xp and 7,7 is more safer apparantly...i had xp for 9 years on my comp,no problems, just had the right antivirus..windows 7 takes more space up..vista is just so crrap.hate it..for a netbook,xp all the way!shame..

I personally found windows 7 snappier on a netbook! The task bar can be made small to fit on the screen easier. It was much better than XP imo.

You don't say what it's snappier than or what netbook but thanks for your comment... my un-informed speclation presumed the overlay effects etc. of Windows 7 would be cpu hungry; but it's good to hear that you don't need to revert to the dark ages or switch to Linux if you want a netbook :-)

Actually my Brother and Dad have this one with the larger battery, it makes it easier to hold in one hand and type with the other. I think it's great!

Totally agree, Windows 7 works perfectly on my larger Laptop, and even on my netbook. You can say Win 3.1 would be faster, but that goes back years !

Anyone actually used HP QuickWeb?
Is it quick?
