Redmi Note 8T is probably a better purchase around this price.

You get USB-C, faster charging, Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, better main camera and a macro camera, bigger battery, infrared blaster.

The Note 8T might only be 64GB compared to 128GB but it has a MicroSD that doesn't use up a SIM tray.

Not really a Huawei fan but seems a lot of phone for the money.

What would be the Snapdragon SoC equivalent of the Kirin 710?

Not too sure, better than the snapdragon equivalent at the price point allegedly.
Great phone - Got it free on a cashback contract at the end of last year - I'm very happy with it.
Got mine for £2.50pm last year. Great phone for the money, makes me wonder what's the point in spending £600+ on a flagship phone when the only thing really noticeably different is the camera quality!

A 600 series, performs slightly worse than a 660.
The Mali GPU on the Kirin is nowhere near as good as the Adreno on the Snapdragon though.

Probably the best 'new' phone you can buy in 2020 that still has Micro USB (for folk like me happy to stay Micro USB for a while longer and keep our cables and accessories Micro USB out of convenience......though I do think the Pixel 4a will finally turn me).

Got one of these a few months ago, very nice all round phone for the money, I have been a Xiaomi guy for a few years and this does very well against them around this price. Nice screen, good speaker, pretty fluid in use, FM Radio, NFC, headphone socket.

The one Big weakness is the camera. It takes some Really Good stills...bit the Video is pretty bad as it has no stabilisation whatsoever... I get my Mi A2 Lite out for any video capture, the difference is Huge. Pretty much unusable for capturing anything moving in my opinion.

Can't think of any reason why you would want to hang on to Micro USB? USB-C is so much better and you cant have that many cables etc...you need to replace?

Micro USB charges the phone fine, so having all the cables the same is vaguely useful. I assume most people don't really care and just plug the phone in when going to sleep.
