Apologies up front if this has already been posted but if you are looking for a deal on the new Ipod's, Dixons Tax Free stores at all main UK airports are selling the new range of Ipods at RRP less the VAT. This make the new Ipod 80GB Classic around 135.00, which seems like a pretty good deal.

Also, providing that you keep all the packaging, nearly all purchases from BAA (Airport) stores can be returned after 60 days if they are kept in good nick.

The title is missing the rather vital information that this is at Duty Free area's only which can be easily done by editing the deal.

Does anyone know if these items can be collected by someone arriving back in the UK? Or is it just departures?

Its not 17.5% its 15% off RRP ;-)

Flying out of gatwick tomorrow, very tempted to get one and sell my 60gb one as it's nearly full

departures only to a non-eu country(I think...)

To be Tax Free it has to be to a non EU Country although Dixons actually subsidise the cost and still allow you to buy it at a Tax Free price if you are going to an EU Country.

However, Im not sure we want HUKD full of every item of Dixons stock that can be purchased at their high street price less VAT or the forum would be full of em;-)

To any destination (UK or abroad) actually. You used to be able purchase on your return, although I am not sure if this is still allowed. Certainly, at Edinburgh airport you can now only purchase booze on your return if you ordered it on your departure.

I agree with that, it obvious you can get ipods tax free at the airport. Like every other items you buy from there.

I think it depends on the plan layout of the airports. As in Stansted, Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow airports when you returning you don't walk through the tax free shops. Its just striaght to the exit.

There is a Dixons Tax Free at Heathrow Terminal 1 domestic and international. Can't comment on the rest. Bottom line is, if there is a Dixons tax free available then you can use it, irrespective of where you are going to.

These places are a joke. The duty free dixons at Manchester is more expensive than some high street shops!

Here's my chance to shine. :-)

Dixons Tax Free is open to everybody flying, it's only vat free prices they are offering. Details below.

To my mind, Mac stuff is about the only thing worth buying from them though what with Mac stuff being price controlled.

You can preorder and collect on arrival, or you can have it delivered home for not much (About £7 I think)

I will be after a Macbook when they refresh the range in Jan.

Hot deal really.

TomTom were cheapest from them for a while last year too. I suppose if you are after something that doesn't get marked down much elsewhere, then you will save the vat element on it.

Just to be clear on this, the 'VAT free' prices are valid for all travellers whether your destination is inside or outside the E.U. I agree with the previous comments that Dixons is not normally the greatest place for a deal, but since Apple discounts are not so easy to find on the new range, then this is worth considering.

Also, rememberr that if you preorder via Dixons web site, I think you get around 3% Quido.

...just to add to this.....if you are buying Tax Free at the airport and travelling to a non EU country then you have a combined limit of £145 for items bought either tax free at the airport which you bring back in or bought in the non-EU country. Over that amount you are liable to import duty and tax on them (alcohol, cigarettes etc have different limits of course) and should of course declare them to Customs (albeit thousands dont......)

Half the stuff is missing. No Canon DSLRs - Not even the 400d nevermind the 40d :-S
