Been this price for a while. Don't forget to add VAT to £25

After investigating the fees this isn't a bad deal only major cost would be a printer, can't see many people not wanting a paper receipt at the moment.
People are very often happy with an emailed receipt. I've been using one of these for months
Looks good, might get one of these......HOT
Square up fees are a lot less...

Does such a device exist anyone? Something like a Bus Conductors printer?
Answering my own question here:

I've a business app in development that would be handy for receipt printing.

I have one of these, (I'm a cabbie). The machine is very fast at taking payments, especially contactless. The rates are 2.75%. The only real downfall, which some may not like, you will not get the funds in your bank account for 3 business days.

i.e. Take a payment
Mon receive Thurs
Tues = Fri
Weds = Mon
Thurs = Tues
Fri = Weds
Sat = Thurs
Sun = Thurs

So be prepared for that. However, that said, my customers do love the fact they can tap and go in a car
IF, and it is a big if, you get it at that price, go for it.
I use the sum up card reader it is just as good but the transaction rate is 1.95% rather than the variable 2.75% of the izettle

They sell the printers for £200+

As linked above only a UK seller. I may buy one and have a play around.

Square up fees are a lot less...

According to the SquareUp site (their caps):
1.75% PER INSERT, TAP OR SWIPE
2.5% PER KEYED-IN OR ONLINE TRANSACTION

It looks very helpful. I am thinking of getting one soon.

The official UK iZettle price for the printer is astronomical, but if you hunt around you can get them a LOT cheaper; I paid less than 50% of the iZettle price via Amazon.

£25 for the reader isnt the cheapest it has been either; they were selling them for £19 last summer.

Worth while looking ionto for easier transactions on eBay or selling other things if you like to sell a fair bit.
I've had the IZettle one, same fees as Paypal but the biggest issue was convincing folk it was ok as most had never heard of IZettle. I now use the Paypal here reader as most folk already have a Paypal account and if not at least they have heard of them.
I realise Square is only 1.75% compared to PayPal's 2.75% which means it's only £1 more every £100 so Not a great issue for me.
I used to use izettle but their card reader broke just out of warranty and they couldn't give a monkeys , even though I'd only used it about 4 times. Now use square as they also provide a virtual terminal so can do over the phone transactions.
Decent price for the reader. But i use SumUp and swipe. Never had any issues with either.

So far done over £6000 in last 3 months - mine is a seasonal business though which is why I don't have a 'proper' terminal.
I'd rather have £60 in my account than in izettle ;-
In all that time not had a single customer to convince that it is 'ok'. In fact most people comment on how cool it is.

If anyone was to comment, I would simply point out that Apple sell them in their shop, so hardly dodgy.... apple.com/uk/…rds

People looking to expense things for business will be the downside on this.

Took over £500 over 16 sales today. Not a single person asked for a printed receipt (we don't offer them). Choice is text or email. Majority don't actually want a receipt anyways

hi i need something like this for my business but ill be taking telephone payments i key in or online..which is best this?
Forgive the hijack, but I have questions about the Apple Square Reader.
Reading the Apple website, it says:

"Accept Apple Pay and chip cards - Square Reader connects via Bluetooth LE to your iPhone or iPad and lets you accept contactless cards, contactless payments such as Apple Pay and chip and PIN cards."

2 Questions:

> Does anyone know if this is able to connect to Android devices as well?
> If not, would it work with a "wifi only" ipad mini?

I'm curious. Thanks in advance.
Yes, I have connected it to a Note 4 and Motorola phone. The Note 4 was wifi only the Motorola on contract.

Also works with my iPad 4 on WiFi only

hi mate thank you,the issue is my business is a tourism company alot of payment processors wont touch us as we do guided tours..will stripe? i signed up to square it seems good but 2.5% would hit us hard as we have tight margins tbh
Not had any reports of people being turned down for stripe But don't know.

I currently charge an extra 25p and one premises and 50p at another if people want to pay by card. Most people are ok with it - though some do find the cash instead.

That will probably have to change next year as the government are looking at making those charges illegal.

signed up for square and stripe..are they easy to integrate? will have to send em to my iT guy
Does anyone actually *want* receipt for small transactions?
Is this price available to existing iZettle users? It's not clear from the website (using the link provided) which seems to assume you are new and proceeds to demand loads of information to create an account. don't want to fill all this in only to end up with an infuriating message at the end saying I have to pay double (the usual reward for loyalty it seems!).
This deal was £19+VAT in June... perhaps it will be again?

Wish I'd bothered to jump in then. Plenty more comments to consider on that thread.

I'm also interested in a referral if you can help...?
I've had the izettle machine for a few years. It's a brilliant way of taking payments. I pair it with the mobile and the payment is made. Quick and easy. The machine cost me £100 and it paid for itself in a few hours work.
It's a brilliantly convenient system.
Christ, 2.75% is a lot! The company I work for, generally the rates are around 0.8%.

And what's the monthly charge?

For seasonal businesses or low turnover these kind of machines are perfect.
i got it free they sent it me at £25 inc vat but never sent invoice for payment been over 6 weeks now

You pay a percentage of what goes through the account, depending on your turnover.

Currently we are paying about 3% on credit and debit card transactions; the exact figures are on the iZettle website somewhere.

Really easy to set up, bank account was added within minutes, and there are accountancy programs that integrate with it, as well as stock control etc.

I am aware of the charges for izettle. I was quoting Mr Whippy who said that the company he works for only charges 0.8%. I don't know of any processing company that is that cheap that doesn't charge a monthly fee and have minimum contracts...

And as I also said, I use Squsre which is 1.75% :-

My apologies. The way the forum software works here makes getting the context difficult sometimes, especially if (like me), you only skim the replies.
