I like it, LG and updates?
Nice op
I'd avoid Wowcamera, spent weeks chasing for an update on phone delivery. Until I had to end up cancelling it.

Updates used to be atrocious but are now actually quite good!
Reliability also good, at least on par with industry average or better now. No more shenanigans!.

Might go for it, not very happy with P30 to be honest.

The trick to LG updates is use the PC software (think it's called LG bridge) to do the backup and update, as UK networks are pretty bad at publishing the OTA updates. Decent phone, just ordered mine a couple of days ago.

My son's got a p20 pro and my dad's for the p30 lite, both are excellent, so I guess yours will also be good enough.

The question is, is this phone going to make enough of a difference that makes it worth it for you?.
Most flagship phones nowadays are decent and not too much downsides on any of them.

I've stick with LG for a while and like them. But my next phone may not be!.

What annoyes me on P30 is camera. Photos seem to be overprocessed most of the time, especially indoors.

With Gcam on Nokia 8 I was happy with 99 out of 100 photos, but with P30 is more like 50/50...

gcam is really for Snapdragon CPU as that's what Pixel use.

Seen that there were some ports, but not really refined so never tried them.

GSMarena says international (I assume non US/Korean) G8s should receive it in Q3 this year, so not long to go really.
The DAC on these are immense.

I've never found the need for gcam since getting my g7. Also good if you like to use plug in headphones in amazing quality .

But on the g8 the battery isn't easily removable, like all new phones!

Yes, dac is the thing that interests me most.

Gcam is not a must, but it does improve pic quality. Especially low light.

I do usually love the DAC but for an aptx hd adapter and haven't looked back since!. It has a built in dac and amp.

The G8S doesn't have the quad-DAC feature, so the headphone output isn't quite as good as some other LG phones. I've started using an external DAC (actually, an LG Hi-Fi Plus), so I'm not too bothered about this any more.
I've only used the LG camera app, but low light pictures are surprisingly good. It's quite comparable to the Huawei P30 in very low light. The Huawei night mode can take pictures in extremely low light which is a nice party trick, but not really so useful.
My G8s kept dropping network, loved the phone but it had to go back. Now back on my beloved G6
