New London ULEZ charge - check your vehicle

23
Found 8th Apr
Check your vehicle by entering your number plate for free at the transport for London website. Don't get caught out by an unexpected charge.

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) replaced the T-Charge on 8 April 2019. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, within the same area as the Congestion Charge zone.

Charging times

Congestion Charge: No charge 18:00-07:00 on weekdays or on weekends, public holidays or any days between Christmas Day and New Year's Day

ULEZ and LEZ: Operate midnight to midnight, every day of the year

Which vehicles are affected

See the emissions standards, daily charges and penalties for these four vehicle groups:

Cars (petrol and diesel)

Vans, minibuses and lighter specialist vehicles

Motorcycles, mopeds and more

Lorries, coaches and other larger vehicles

If your vehicle is affected there are ways to avoid the charge and/or meet the standards.
The ULEZ daily charge is:

£12.50 for most vehicle types, including cars, motorcycles and vans (up to and including 3.5 tonnes)

£100 for heavier vehicles, including lorries (over 3.5 tonnes) and buses/coaches (over 5 tonnes)

A change from LEZ standards

If you drive a lorry, van, bus, minibus or other specialist vehicle and it currently meets the London-wide LEZ emissions standards, it may not meet the new ULEZ standards for central London.

If you push your car through London, do you still get charged?

You would think so, but sadly no

The gov want to get all money off public. Now promoting electric car but in few years time, they would say that there would be a load on national grid, and we will see a move towards some other form of energy. Similar thing happened with diesel.

It is just a mafia
What a con this is
It's a joke that not one black cab (that doesn't meet the requirements) has to pay this charge.
"Apparently" TFL will use their licence to make the cabs more environmentally friendly, but not for today, and probably not for another 10 years.

I will never want to use a black cab again, bunch of cry baby tossers. And Khan can do one as well !
No worries for me - my new car has 0 emissions.

Great deal! Can't miss it...
Any cashback?
Whoever named this ULez? Sounds like an insult hurled at women in comfortable shoes.
If your not wearing Gucci your not coming in is the next one.

Think they want only the filthy rich to drive around London. We are reverting to the old days, when a motor car was a privilege for the very rich.

Only cars that run on champagne will only be allowed soon

Sorry by using that you will breath more, causing more co2 , you have to pay £10 co2 fee
That's £10 per lung;
This isn’t a deal, just a heads-up. Normally those are moved to discussions...
Ahh the entitled cry babies that want to continue polluting moan about having to pay.

About time this happened and hopefully more cities and towns do it too.
and apparently the TFL checks / charging system is bit basic and may work on registration year. I have read where people ahve the correct Euro rating on their DVLA registration doc but TFL says nope, you're being charged. Use other systems to check your cars EURO rating to be sure, especially if TFL says you will be charged and your car is on the cut over dates of when TFL thinks the emission categories came into force (Euro 6 Diesel 2014 / Euro 4 Petrol 2005)

utter junk comment.

I have a 2011 Diesel, not an old junker and live close to the north circular border. last year I did around 4k miles but someone doing double / triple / quadruple that mileage may not get charged a fee. When this comes into force in 2021 it knocks out a whole load of peoples cars from being able to be driven within the north / south circular, no matter if it's just once but others are driving day in day out.

It should be UK wide ........ but then wait and see the outcry then when suddenly many thousands of vehicles become 'scrap' value

Certainly seems a little off.
My old Kia sportage 2.0ltr, that's £240 tax a year is showing as free, as is my other car.
Two of my old cars are showing as they would have been free too, one being an '97 Astra not even fuel injected.

Other cities are introducing their own charges for congestion/emissions under 'clean air' schemes. Manchester for example is looking to charge £7.50 in the city centre and surrounding towns.
Stoke-On-Trent is set to introduce a £8 minimum fee for the central dual carriage way connecting it's 6 towns... the same road that gets used when they divert traffic from the M6 when there is an accident.
There are a few other cities that are set to introduce their own, and it makes you wonder what the true cost would be to travel the country at some point in the future.
Probably cheaper just to get on a plane.

Not that I have any intention of driving into London but my LPG car apparently will cost £12.50 in the ULEZ area but free in the LEZ area.
Is that the same for petrol only cars?

It's stupid that a car like this autotrader.co.uk/cla…389 is exempt.
How many more Taxes will people keep paying blindly!

The poll tax never got off the ground twice, If you don't pay this rubbish it won't ever get off the ground and they will have to scrap it, but no the blind British public sheep will pay it!!!
