So you could buy this for the price of a new iPhone?
Something ain't right.

Looks like some of the sellers items is not uk stock and coming with US keyboards which is why they maybe low priced

"New" Macbook Air, until next week.

Curious as to why a 'fulfilled by amazon' item would be genuine...? My understanding was that the seller sends Amazon their stock and Amazon handle shipping/returns. Amazon don't actually supply or check the item authenticity AFAIK.

Amazon are really bad with mispricing their stuff, I have hd y order cancelled a few times by them saying oh sorry it was a misprice. Wont be using amazon for "deals"

My cat can do fulfilled by amazon, all it means is that amazon posts from one of its warehouses. Can be empty boxes they don't care.

I can confirm that. I bought fake headphones from marketplace sellers "fulfilled by amazon". However, amazon refunded the money immediately.

Anything fulfilled by Amazon will get you their excellent customer service if you're unhappy.

I'm an amazon seller and it's correct that fulfilled by amazon just requires sellers to send pre-packed and barcoded pallets of their stock to amazon and amazon has the responsibility of dispatching the items. Amazon do not necessarily check or authenticate any of this stock. As maakuji said, however, you will have protection by amazon if anything goes wrong and they do provide a very good quick and easy returns service.

Buying anything on amazon you get some protection, but FBA stuff will give you more. But could still be a hassle if you need to return something that isn't what you ordered.

One the keyboard type - they might have ordered a UK keyboard even if the seller is based in the US. You can do this, my wife who is American got a US keyboard on her mac she purchased from Apple UK as she learnt to touch type on that keyboard layout.

This seller has recent feedback about VAT suggesting it's a parallel import. A lot of sellers of popular toys (frozen especially) all seem to be based out of random apartments in Brooklyn, New York. While any seller legally has to charge VAT if they go over the threshold (and given the amount of feedback they all are making more than the threshold) it looks like a lot are getting away without charging VAT. They're also probably buying without sales tax in the US, meaning they have an advantage over EU based sellers. Worst that could happen to that type of seller as they are based abroad is their stock is confiscated, and they probably operate on just in time so won't have much landed.

What a pathetic comparison. When you were posting your vintage PC world geek squad response, did it not occur to you people buy different size laptops for different reasons, not based on spec alone....?

128GB SSD vs 1TB HDD.. what a dumb comparison. what about the screen resolution?

Well done.
Also this Air compared to my car has far fewer wheels and a lower top speed.

of course something ain't right. Smartphones are miniature versions of a tablet/ laptop using all custom made parts so of course they are a lot more expensive as you are not just picking standard parts off the shelf. It's the same reason that bigger screen laptops are cheaper than the smaller ones.

It's a USA version as stated in the ask seller a question section.

You know its thin and light and yet compare it to a big hefty laptop ? you could have simply compared it to the lenovo yoga or x series (more expensive and better specs, thinner and lighter than the mac book air).

You can't compare the 2 items.
Try comparing a 11-12 inch ultra book to this Mac Book Air.

100% correct. Only recently discovered this myself.

I'm not a particular fan of Apple, but your comparison actually makes the Mac seem good value. Intel GPU is very likely better than the Nvidia. Obviously the CPU is no comparison, but if someone wants a small compact, no question which it should be, not for me though.

Whats the difference between a US and UK Keyboard?

Boom123

I bought a macbook from pleasure time technology fulfilled by Amazon. so far no complaints. macbook had a UK keyboard.

Will this spec be able to support development tools for IOS?

On a Mac the main difference is the lack of £ symbol above the 3 plus the return key is a different shape - the @ and " are always in the standard US positions.

Yeah. Because having it boot up a few seconds quicker on SSD with a tiny capacity is worth SO much. Theres nothing wrong with the Levovo, gets you a lot more for your money.

Tool.

Why all this hatred.
He simply said that you could buy something different at this price.
Obviously, it is not the same but there is a fair point from both sides.
Apple products are very expensive and you could easily argue that they are not the best value products out there.
However, I understand that the market that they are targeting is very specific.
It is lighter, smaller, more portable, better battery life, thinner , has a better design and more stylish.
However, you can compare it with other Ultrabooks and you will realise that there are other options.
At the end of the day, Apple is a very clever company and they are usually very good at making high quality products.
My friend was thinking about buying an Ultrabook and he found the Lenovo U430 touch to be a better option when compared to the Apple but as I said there are always trade offs.

this is the link to the laptop and Currys had a 100 pounds extra off any laptop above 600 so he saved 100 pounds ,too

The Lenovo G710 weighs 2.9kg (source), whereas the current Macbook Air 13" is 1.35kg and the 11" is just 1.08kg. (source)

Doesn't really seem they're too comparable...

Yes. Any OSX capable machine can support development for iOS (Xcode).

krazyasif786

Whats the difference between a US and UK Keyboard?

Barely noticeable difference, the @ sign on Macs isn't where you'd expect it anyway even on UK models. The key difference is that there's no £ sign but on a Mac if you select a UK keyboard layout in OSX it maps the key to the £ sign anyway, it just has a hash # sign where you would expect £.

I totally agree you get a lot more for your money:

A lot more back and/or shoulder pain
A lot more non-productivity because you always leave it home due to the fact that it's too heavy to walk around with
A lot more inconvenience because you always have to find a much bigger place to keep it when you do actually take it with you
A lot more fiddling around with the operating system and software
A lot more depreciation, which will lead to...
A lot more disappointment with the price you'll have to drop it to in order to stand any chance selling it after you've come to the realisation that you're using less than 100GB on its 1TB hard drive and you probably should just buy a MacBook Air!
