All-day battery.

With the 11-inch MacBook Air, you’ll get up to 9 hours of battery life — or up to 8 hours when watching iTunes films. And the 13-inch model lasts up to a staggering 12 hours — or up to 10 hours of iTunes movies playback.

Haswell, Hot.

Fourth-generation Intel Core processors and Intel HD Graphics 5000 make even the most demanding tasks easier. Whether you’re editing photos, perfecting a presentation or watching porn.

Faster all-flash storage.

Combined with the new Intel Core processors, flash storage allows MacBook Air to start up in just one second, and makes everything you do snappier and more responsive. And now the 11-inch model comes as standard with 128GB. It just doesn't get any better than this.

That's right they run very hot indeed....

9 hrs watching movies on 11incher. no thank you

Battery now matches or even beats the Asus 11.6 Inch Ultra Portablea at £250 and well beats the £350 Vivobook.

How can u compare a piece of **** like asus to apple lol. People on here are insane.

I've got a 2011 Mac Air, 4gb ram, i7 chip, 256gb ssd, 11inch model, set me back about £1300. Problem is the fan is always on as it gets so hot and that's just using basic youtube videos. What I don't understand is why they didn't put retina support in the new air?

I get about 3 hours out of it running full brightness and doing basic computer tasks so hopefully these promises are true !

Do apple do any trade in schemes at all?

This is retail price, not a deal.

Made in the same factory. And all use cheap TFT screens.
The Vivobook difference is the touch screen.

I'm a Mac and PC owner.
My Mac is GREAT!
My PC is very HANDY!

They is no denying Mac are certainly a quality product.
Not just at what they look like, or their specs, but how well they work with other devices.
My Mac and iPhone work together like a dream.

Are they over-priced? Without a doubt.
Would I own a MAC if I wasn't a video editor..? Probably not.
Are they junk, absolutely not!

Is this a Hot UK Deal? Really Not.

Hot cost it's Haswell.

Goodness knows what you are doing, mate. The fan in my 2011 Air only comes on when I'm using Google Hangouts. Never comes on for anything else including YouTube. A SMC reset might help:

That said, they really could do with bumping the memory on these things. If you are running two OS at once via Virtualbox - 4GB doesn't go very far. [edit it looks like that's an option now]

A retina display halves the battery life of the ipad so that might be a reason. I don't know much about macbook airs but you may have dust in the fan. I used to open my laptops up and pick dust out of the fan but with sealed body laptops i just get it with the hoover occasionally - i am sure that people on forums will discuss how they do it. Maybe you should back up your files and do a fresh install of the operating system. Osx isn't as bad as windows but it may still have a lot of background programs running.

If all else fails you should consider getting Apple to look at it. They don't advertise this but the EU have been strong-arming them into offering a 2 year warranty instead of the standard 1 year in order to comply with EU regulations. Depending on when you bought it in 2011 you may still be able to get Apple to fix it under warranty. I have heard of quite a few people going into the Apple store and mentioning EU regulation and Apple agree to fix their problem under warranty. For your next apple laptop i would definitely factor applecare into the purchase price though. Laptops are the most likely to break of all of the products that apple sell.

If you have to sell it, I doubt that you would ever get good value trading in with Apple so you would probably be best selling it on ebay. I imagine that you will still get more than half of your money back.

Very eloquently said. Not got Mac myself cant justify cost although I certainly wouldnt vote cold like others until I had used it and felt qualified to comment !. one comment from a mac user another deal mentions that his mac hadn't crashed once in 2years. Dont think we could day same thing of pc's !!!@

1.3ghz????????????????

No haswell in macbook pro's?

missed opportunity I think

"What I don't understand is why they didn't put retina support in the new air?"

Cos it is their 'cheap laptop line'. Nothing too far wrong with it. Light, now cooler running. The glaring this is that the memory in base cheap £850 model is pitiful.

If you are going to buy a macbook air, now is the time. Prices rarely go down, so if you have the money why wait 6 months only to pay the same price? Claimed battery life on the 13 inch is starting to make this a serious contender with the Thinkpads

well since they are intel based machines you could always put Windows on the box and have a expensive windows machine.

Nice machine - but not really a deal as such. I'm waiting to see what the MacBook Pro refresh looks like.

One for the thick people in life lol

O ye.... Cold

Serious question: this or the Surface Pro? I'm having a hard time deciding...

MACBOOK AIR
Faster graphics
Better keyboard and trackpad
Far better battery life
Extra USB port (2 vs 1)

SURFACE PRO
Touchscreen
Wacom Stylus
Full HD
Use as a tablet or laptop

I have a MacBook Air 13" from 2010 which I love but find a bit big to cary around. I had a Surface RT but there were way too many apps that I'm used to using on my Note 2 and my iPad 3 that didn't have equivalents so I gave it back. On the Pro of course I could just run desktop programs instead.

Battery life is very important to me as I'm out and about but I've heard people can get around five/six hours if they change power settings on the Pro, put brightness down and don't run power hungry programs on the desktop.

By the way voted HOT because Haswell processors, double the storage, nearly double the battery life of previous model and compares favourably price wise to similarly specced and designed portable PC laptops. Please STOP comparing to cheap ass PC laptops you annoying fanboys....I hope you're trolling and not actually being serious...

The battery is bigger!

Obviously Apple know how to wheeler deal on getting low price chipsets out of Intel.

GREAT PRICE FOR HASWELL.
