Not a bad discount on RRP at apple and certainly the cheapest I've seen them around.

John Lewis also offer a 2 year guarantee on them.

Space grey and silver in stock.

Blurb from John Lewis

New Apple MacBook Pro, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB, 13.3", Space Grey

Goes without saying (but am saying anyway) that this won't be to everyone's tastes.

I don't think apple give 3 years warranty on educational stuff anymore. Might be worth checking that.

It's possible John Lewis doing it at this price to match currys "10% cash back on everything" through quidco. That currys/quidco deal ends tomorrow so this price may end then as well (the guarantee makes this the better choice).

Currys price match plus 10% quidco. Tempting.

Nice idea! Do they let you do quidco on price matches?

I believe John Lewis are matching Argos as they have a 10% voucher off all laptops

Im guessing you would have to pay the full price from Currys to get the quidco cashback. Then contact currys for the JL price match after.

Reading the T&C's they say it can only be used with offers mentioned above. price match is mentioned so should be allowed with Quidco. That would make it something like £1,173.

That sounds about right

Apple, charging this much when you can buy something for half the price that's just as good or better. Baffles me that they're still in business.

Come on, you think this is value for money? If you deconstruct this laptop I'd be surprised if the parts add up to £400-500.

I completely agree with you! Apple is a cult - with a massive following, think they're called iSheep or something soon to be a religion, I am sure it will replace Jedi as a religion in the next census.

Hell - look at how much money the Scientology lot rake in...

I know but it has the light up apple on the lid, that's priceless X)

Apple have really shot themselves in the foot with the new, more expensive MBP. No USB (old tech they say) and no SD card means adapter cables for USB. You can't even connect your iPhone 7/Plus to it without an adapter, old tech indeed...

If you're in the market for a MBP right now, buy the previous model instead.

USP now removed

Apple increased prices by 20% last month. Now they are doing 10% off, do not be stupid and stop buying Apple sh$t.

Tempting but i'll hold on until Black Friday and hope for something better.

The screen is no better than anything else. They're not specially made for Macbooks or something lol.

If you find a laptop with exactly the same screen specs it will be...surprise, surprise, exactly the same.

And the build quality is no better than a Zen book in many cases.

A BMW would look different from a Ford. A macbook barely looks different from many others. Personally, I'm bored to death of the whole "Metal slab" look many laptops go for.

They're almost identical.

MBP is no doubt pricey, but there is USB type c to lightning cable. So saying I can't connect without an adapter is a false statement now.

so lets just ignore the value of OS on the machine too.

All the people saying 'but you can get the same specced machine for half the price with Windows' blah blah blah, I'd be interested to know if any of you have actually owned a Mac before? oO

You won't be able to get out of the frame of mind you're in till you do, so just leave the arguments please -.-

I agree .. for me it's all bout FCP.. but then again I simply have
sold my overpriced 15" RMBP 512 and configured a hackintosh on my gaming pc for such things while taking in £1600.

You may knock Apple but if this goes wrong you take it to an Apple Store and get it replaced or repaired. Buy a Dell or HP from Currys and the best you get is a few weeks wait, a rubbish repair or normally nothing!

It's not just about the product these days, it's also about after sales service which you don't get with other products. I can ring Apple and get support which is more that you get with other manufacturers

Do you have to buy the cable separately?

Proprietary hdd soldered in ram and glued in battery and over priced parts avoid

Actually the screens are better at the moment, they have wide colour gamut and are a step above anything else except iPhone 7's and the very latest iPads. So you can lol all you want but you don't know what you're talking about.

Asus are fine machines but no, the build quality is not up to MacBook Pro standards. You'd need to look at the Microsoft Surface or Dell XPS range in the PC world.

No, they're not. Go look up some bench marks. The Macbook pro screens are nothing special. They run with the crowd, they don't lead it. The Dell XPS 15 is one of the best screens in the world at the moment, better than the Macbook Pro. They're still good, but to say "Step above anything else" is laughable. They're not even first anymore lol

Why you're mentioning phones and now tablets in relation to a laptop baffles me. They're don't share screens and there's no relation.

That's strange, because many reviewers argued that the Zenbook was the new Macbook and they're both almost identical....

Unfortunately JL prices have gone back up, even though Argos still have the deal on. Could be because Argos don't have stock any more.
