A standard spec that puts top range audi a6s and BMW 5 series to shame.

Great price, they're not a bad car at all.

Ah, no mention of an engine, wonder if that’s an extra ! Great deal, I have the Mazda 6 hatchback, it’s the best car I’ve had for reliability.

Great cars indeed. They drive well. Just hope the CO2 emissions won’t hurt you down the road. Shame no automatic. Otherwise awesome car. Waiting for a cx3 or CX5 to come up as a great leasing deal.

Always liked the look of mazda 6,but I read stories about dpf resets required fairly often. As I don't do many miles, I've avoided for that reason. Very handsome cars.

On my second one through a company car scheme, best car I've had for a while but would be a nightmare to own, repairs and parts are expensive

It's a 2.0 litre normally aspirated petrol engine. The se-l models have a 145bhp power output, and the Sport Nav+ petrol has the 165bhp unit.

Totally agree, I’ve had BMW ,Audi and Mazda and Mazda knock spots off them for reliability, servicing costs and in the case of a three year old one, depreciation.
We had a new Mazda 6 for six months as a company car - it was actually a very nice car to drive and a nice break from our usual German company cars.

A basic 6 speaker sound system doesn't really put those top end cars to shame. Rest of the spec is decent though.

I'll take a similar spec Mazda instead of an Audi. So much better in terms of looks and exclusivity.
The only instance where I'll shamefully take an Audi over Mazda is in terms of Gearbox (DSG or conventional Auto) and performance engine.

Dont tar all BMW owners with a brush because of a few idiots. I own BMWs and own 2 properties and neither on a council estate
I owe Mazda 6 2014 2.2 diesel 150BHP CO emissions ist that bad as Road Tax only £20 a year

Standard spec on a 5 series includes electric seats, auto gearbox, navigation, heated leather seats, lcd dashboard, interior mood lights and lots more. Personally I found getting the likes of the Mazda up to the BMW specs made it so close in price the BMW was a no brainer
Very tempted by this had one in the past and great car. This price is cheaper than secondhand models on autotrader. Have some heat.

And this is what lets Mazda down everytime, their engines. They are terrible.

145bhp from a 2.0 Petrol? When others are getting 200+ BHP from a 1.3/1.4 engine.

Slow, uneconomical and high CO2 emissions.

Its high specc'd and cheap for a reason as the engine is from the 1990's

Even if it has the Bose name on it, doesn't mean it's any good. 6 speakers isnt ideal for soundstage in a car and is the 6 speaker system externally amplified, or powered by the head unit? They offer an 11 speaker Bose optional upgrade which is probably decent, but the stock system will be basic.

The Audi A6 which was the point of reference in my comment and the one I quoted has a 10 speaker, externally amplified system as standard. Compared to that, it doesn't "put top spec Audi A6s to shame". That's before we get onto the premium B & O systems available as upgrades.

What a ridiculous, ill-informed comment.

More power from small engines does not always mean better. Just look at the debacles and numerous forum discussions about poor reliability of Ford Ecoboost and VAG 1.5 TSI EVO engines. Normally aspirated means simpler design, means less to go wrong. It's a proven technique. Just look at Toyota.

OK, fair point but a sound system is very subjective to the listener. I tend to use my car for travelling from A to B rather than a mobile 'juke box' Enough said.

Completely agree it's subjective, it depends on your usual usage and your music source too. A lovely premium sound system with ,10+ speakers and 600w+ is wasted on mostly radio, or low bitrate external media sources. When you cover at least 10 hours a week of monotonous motorway driving though, a great sound system and quality media source can make it far more enjoyable

My years of servicing and repairing cars makes me admire a normally aspirated engine. Yes, it's a tad old skool as you need to rev it to get the most out of it, and that's part of the enjoyment of using gears for an engaging drive without a laggy turbo. The down side is that you cant be a lazy driver expecting a dab on the throttle to get you a shove in the back. There's also no expensive turbo to go wrong once the warranty expires, or these days dealers tell you it's just wear and tear. I can't speak for all aspirated engines, but Mazda tend to give realistic mpg figures when compared with the German brands. We ran a small fleet of 1.0 and 1.4tsi courtesy cars and the mpg figures were no where near what is claimed, and that's largely down to thirsty turbos. Ultimately, it depends on what you're looking for in your car. My favourite small engine with a turbo is the Suzuki boosterjet 1.0. It's much better than the VAG and Ford units on so many fronts, being smoother, quieter, eager to pull when mated to either a manual or auto box. I still see too many issues with the VAG DSGs and Ford auto boxes. Great for business, bad for customers.

Engines are not from the 1990s, these are more advanced engines built with latest technologies.
Sure Mazda can add turbos etc and increase BHP which would increase emissions, but they can't afford that due to it'll make their cars more expensive and as they are a very small auto companies, their company Average C02 will go through the roof, and they'll never afford the impact on their sales.

Large companies like VW, Ford, Renault/Nissan etc have the resources and the corporate welfare/benefits, economy of scale etc unfortunately Mazda does not have such privileges.

Adding a turbo won't increase emissions.....I highlighted that point above in that my 150bhp 1.4 chucks out 118g/km.

It won't increase emissions on which cycle? Overall low RPM where its usually inefficient or what?
In this day and age where cutting every micro gram of c02 is vital for survival, there is a reason why Mazda is sticking to its method.
Also, bear in mind, that Mazda does not have a part bin and cannot afford to tailor its engine effectively to every single market.
Hence, they build what is economically viable for their survival.
shame no automatic option at this price.
it's funny in their native market Asia 70% and in America 99% of their new cars are now Auto but in Europe everything must stay old school and retro as standard and need to pay up for what they get as standard..

Had German cars in the past and never again after both hit 5 years old, endless engine management problems and most recent an entire new DSG gearbox, mechatronic and clutch, almost a 5k repair on a 5 year old car with 60k mileage. Personally I am baffled as to how they became so highly regarded, I wouldn’t touch them
