UK hotdeals.. Ain't the best place to come if you don't like unexpectedly spending money on something you didn't know you wanted or needed

I can name at least dozen transport companies where you are doing that …I can name at least dozen transport companies where you are doing that kind of mileage and they are national UK based companies doing long distance night time driving... And I wasn't talking only about commercial driving but total... Remember that not every HGV driver is delivering groceries and majority of heavy transport is being undertaken during night time because of the traffic...

Ok. I wouldn't name them though as they are all breaking the law by a considerable amount.

Let's say you do the maximum allowed hours per two week period of 90 hours.
Now let's say you start at a motorway depot and end at one every shift and can maintain the 60mph on every mile you ever travel all year.

So I'll also assume you are an agency driver who manages to fill all 52 weeks of the year up.

Onto the maths.
90hrs @ 60mph= 5400 miles
So weekly you average 2700 miles
2700 miles X 52 weeks= 140,400 miles.

So are you saying you do 60,000 miles a year driving to work and on your net 1.5 days off per week in this magical perfect world?

You do realise riding a unicorn in your sleep doesn't count as mileage?

Thank you.... I loved the CLA but was concerned about the lack of height in the boot area. Plus not sure if I can justify a car of this spec as I only drive less than 5 miles per day!!

The CLA is a stretched A class... So the C Class would most definitely be the better load carrier

New CLA should be revealed this week.
The 9G-Tronic gearbox is a fantastic transmission system. It is incredibly smooth and used to be fitted to the luxury models only.

If rumours are true then car sales are down big time, March is a flop and with the general slowdown and Brexit should be some bargains to be had over the coming months, even the Germans are bordering recession and with the US threatening tariffs on European motors its the perfect storm, a generous government scrappage scheme is also being mooted.

Think of it like this >

24 hours in day
5 miles a day is 15-30mins depending on traffic on average.

So for at least 23.5 hours a day the car is sitting pretty on your drive.

Cars are a necessity but also an absolute luxury for many of us considering how much we actually use them.

I'm single and I have two cars so yes er don't listen to me lol I have to stop myself from buying more cars. I only use the second car for around 500-1000 miles a year. I like my second car but it's a total luxury and some one reversed in to it the other day and left it in a mess. So now I have to pay to get it fixed.

Yup. I’ve been driving for 20 years with no accidents so not sure why my choice of footwear is an issue? If I thought for one moment that I wasn’t safe to drive, out of respect for my own life and that of others (including my children) I would wear something else.

A friend of a friend admitted to me that heels could have been a contributing factor in a low speed accident a while back. This is just like wearing thick hard sole shoes, being tired or just under the limit - I'd avoid any compromises when driving. You may be fine 99.9999% of the time but that one time could end up expensive and unpleasant.

I don't know if it's just the angle but that tyre/wheel combination looks like it offers very little protection for the alloy. It's not something I'd base overall buying decision on but prepare to get lots of scratches.
2017 models are this price on autotrader so anyone looking for one of these this is a steal. The only negative is the 5 spoke alloys not the alloys in the photo.

Yes if you run down the side of the curb while parking it will scratch the wheels.
The downside of buying a "sporty style" version of the car.

I posted the pics to show the colour really. It's a bit Marmite. You either like it or hate it.

Agreed most low profile alloys have no protection against the kerb side
If you only drive 5 miles a day then look at leasing. There are great 5k a year deals which will probably cost you less than buying, even with this discount.
Thanks......bought 6
Must admit the real pics of the car you'll actually get don't a patch on the OP's post picture

I hate the idea of a lease car... I’ve only had 4 cars in my whole life! I tend to buy nearly-new, run them into the ground over many years & then move on.

What an utter nonsense. Have you ever wondered what professional drivers are wearing for driving? I never heard of or came across any accident caused by wearing thick hard sole safety shoes and I have been driving approximately 200k miles a year for quite a few years now...

White? Yuk. Has to be black for me. I have only ever purchased cars in black.
Vehicle Excise Duty will not be £20 on this!
