Ok, I know there are a lot of Apple haters out there, but I have been teetering on the edge of ordering one of these retina screened 27" iMacs since they first came out. This deal finally made me jump, here we have the newest release of the top spec (without any extras), so this is a quad core i5 3.3Ghz with 8GB RAM and a 2TB fusion drive. Also comes with the new Magic Mouse 2 and the new Magic Keyboard.

While 8GB of memory is a little light for a computer of this type, Apple are notorious for charging too much for memory... A quick search of the internet found a 32GB upgrade for £123 including shipping.

Seeing as the Apple Store price for this spec is £1849, a saving of £269 on a machine which has only just been released seems pretty hot to me, and as the seller uses Paypal, you have buyers protection from Ebay.

I know this won't be for everyone, but if you are looking for one of these, I have never seen cheaper!

An i5 and 8GB for £1500 is not a powerful machine for the price. For that money you could get a Windows Desktop with an i7 and 32GB of ram.

It's an i5 6600 Skylake I believe, so pretty much state of the art, you can pay a lot more for the i7 version, but its not that much quicker and you're hardly going to be overclocking an imac.

The mac haters just dont like the mac as they cannot nor ever could afford one. It really is that simple.
HOT! simply to upset them.

Oh Dear, I was really hoping for once that, instead of comparing Windows to OS X, we might compare £1,849 to £1,580... Surely the point is that if someone has already gone through the Windows/Mac arguments and has decided that they want a Mac, this is a way to save £270?

Also, as pointed out, for less than half of the saving you can buy 32GB of compatible RAM, and unlike many Apple products, you can still upgrade the RAM in one of these yourself

You have to remember that most who talk computers are dreamers who daydream about machines they can never afford.
HUKD is the shop window they gaze through with envy & envy is a jealous master that hates anything it can never be. At least they have a chance to afford a new mouse for a PC so that will always get voted hot as opposed to summat that is forever beyond reach so will be voted cold.

£1,627.20 from Apple if you can get the student pricing. So this is a good price. Makes you wonder where the stock is from.

Also take a look at the Dell XPS 2720 to rival this. 27" QHD Core i7 16GB 2TB bluray touchscreen

Fair point, but there is nothing stopping you dual booting Mac OS on a Windows machine. It's down to personal preference but you could build a much more powerful PC, and buy a 4K display, then dual boot Mac OS for the same amount of money as this.

Sadly it seems that some think the point of HUKD is to make irrelvant arguements and will just for the sake of it. I've posted deals for computers and people vote cold as they can build one themselves for less (usually ignoring minor points like legitimate licences for software). Anyway heat from me.

Basically there are a few idiots out there, there I've said it.

Except this has a 5k display so your point is moot.

Very good price for the new iMac. Heat added.

With the right cable this can also be used as a monitor, mini display port in.

Can't use the 5K as a monitor

I have to say, I've received mine and I'm over the moon... Exactly as described, brand new, the 27" retina display is incredible, words don't do it justice. I have a multi monitor set up with 1080 22" screens to either side of the Mac, and the difference is incredible.

I've taken the plunge and ordered, best deal out there by some margin!

The only real difference between a 4-core i5 and an i7 is hypertheading, which might give you an extra 20% performance - big deal. On a laptop the i7 is a better bet if it is 4 core as laptop i5 chips are usually only 2 core, but for a desktop machine like this for most people it's really not worth spending the extra on an i7.

I sent him a message yesterday asking if he would accept £1580 but he didn't respond so I ended up buying from KRCS Authorised Apple Centre who are offering 12% off for Black Friday weekend. They also include 2 year warranty and you can custom build the iMAC if you prefer
