Oh dear! As an original Moto G owner all set to upgrade, I had hoped the rumours of 1080p and Qualcomm 615 might be true. Clearly they are not. This 3rd generation Moto G is definitely not worth £179 of my money. I suspect a lot of other people will think the same. Odd this appears on the same day that the entry price of the new OnePlus 2 is announced at $US 329 (£212). There's no contest is there?
Sorry Motorola but you have messed up big time. What a shame...

Snapdragon 410, same as the Moto E. Lol.

Hopefully we will see the end of the moronic 'cold - not a Moto G' posts.....

Cold, not a cheap Chinese phone with better specs.....

The Moto G was a game changer, and I still have my 2013 model (paid £130 on day of release), but the iterations released since then only seem to bring very minor incremental changes to the spec, with the price going up to match.

There are far better specced phones available around the world, eg my JiaYu S3 which I paid the same £130 for, but which is better in every department, and would thrash this in an AnTuTu duel.

I think Moto have milked this model for all its worth now, and the competition is so much better these days. Go back to the drawing board and release another game changer at a cheap price....

AnTuTu duel

oO

Just browsing HUKD and I see you can get a Huawei G620S (5" 720p screen, Qualcomm 410) for £50 on CPW upgrade. Yes the camera isnt as good and there's no Lollipop but it puts the £179 price into context!

What is the storage for the listed model ? I take it its 8gb?

I agree - check the Meizu m2 note out compared to this, paid 139 quid for mine - very happy

This is a ridiculous amount of phone for £179. I had the original Moto G and absolutely loved it, this finally seems like a worthy successor, and the fact it uses the same camera sensor as last year's Nexus 6 flagship is a pretty good indication of the value available here.

Even if we take away the fact that the phone is not competitive any more... how is this a deal when its RRP. According to a post earlier Tesco have it for £139...

How is it a ridiculous amount of phone ? Ridiculous amount of money more likes. As noted, the OnePlusTwo is only a shade more and better specced, but the real bargains are in China....

On the US site the 8gb is $179.99 and 16gb $219.99 that's a decent price point, over here I think it's over priced

How many people wanting to purchase a phone at under £200 are going to scour the internet to find the best value Chinese phone and want the hassle of returning it should anything go wrong? Thankfully for you, you appear to have an eye for tech and the time to search out something you consider to be of better value to you. Not everyone has the time or the knowledge, and so this is more likely to go up against the £150 pieces of rubbish peddled daily in your local Tesco.

For the mum buying a phone for her kid for Christmas and wants something inexpensive yet reliable, for the guy who just dropped his phone on a night out and needs something right away, or to anyone that wants a good phone, from a reputable manufacturer which is guaranteed to be among the first to get the latest Android updates without the hassle of installing a custom ROM, this is FANTASTIC value.

As far as the One Plus Two goes, yeah I want one. But can you buy one today? Do you have an invite? Are you willing to deal with the same customer service that supposedly left people without a working device for weeks? If so, great for you, but you are not the majority. For the majority, this is a great value device.

I also have the original Moto G and still love it. I think it's a worthy successor but will wait to see if the prices come down when other sellers start to stock it.

Moto G has a dimple, not nipples.

Judging by how cold this has gone I would say too like the OP

Only advantages over tesco is that this is unlocked and you can order whatever colour you like.
The tesco deals are usually for the basic spec one in black.

According to the Tesco Direct site it is indeed, the 8Gb version
