Thanks Mr Switch as helpful as ever!

I had the same question but I don't mind going the refurb route to get a better spec for the same money as will be a spare phone.

Which is the best refurb model for less than £100?

Thanks again.

The pixel 2 is under £100 atm, that's Probably the best, though described as in reasonable condition by XS Items.

Thanks had a look but it's single SIM and I really wanted a dual sim... any other suggestions for a refurb, dual sim sub £100?
Cheers!
All new phones should scrap the 16GB version. They are useless.
My wife and me have been driven mad with problems that you, EE and Nokia would not believe, but we are now able to escape the grip of our Nokia 8's disastrous two year shackles of a contract .
DARE we do it again ? Based on a very happy history with various Nokia models before and their fantastic build quality and with a budget of around £100 each should we stick or twist ?
Oh one other minor consideration is that I have various disabilities that mean I will need it to be easy to use and not too fiddly as it will probably have to last me a long time.
Thanks everyone for your help and for this fantastic site
Cheers Tim

True. Just because something isn't suitable for you they should scrap it

They should get rid of 2 seater cars as well, just because they are useless for anyone with kids, therefore they're useless for everyone

250ml cans of Coke? I want 330ml. Scrap them.

Not really the same analogy. I don't think 16gb in 2020 is really even enough to store and run the OS and apps you might want even if you're a light user, even if you don't put any photos or videos on there. 32gb should really be eye bare minimum, 16 is too low for anyone imo. You'd certainly have to keep clearing the cache daily and constantly deleting apps I feel at the very least.

They have some cracking deals on eBay for new sealed phones. I recently bought my mum a new Honor 8 flagship for £95 which was £400 in 2017. Something like this would still run rings around a £100 budget phone. Also seen the Huawei p smart 2018 32gb which is a 1080p mid ranger from a year or two ago new and sealed for £90. I'd say something like this would be your best bet rather than a sub £100 budget phone with a 720p screen and low storage etc.

I think you've answered the question well, but he did actually ask for a good refurb phone for under £100, I don't think he contemplated an budget.

Oh yeah sorry! The answer would remain as the Honor 8 is new and sealed...I'm actually surprised how nice this phone looks and feels. The build and screen are actually
a little better than the Honor 10 which I own. 16:9 screen though which would be either a pro or con. I forget to mention the Xiaomi mi A2 which is currently £99 new and sealed right now on eBay too. Another good option. Also it's worth watching auctions, I've seen the Honor 9 brand new go for £115 and Honor 10 for £135 for example (realise that's out of budget just an example). Also an LG g6 refurb for £100 or so on eBay may be a consideration?

Hi,
Out of that list you gave, which exactly would be the best, most reliable/future-proof dual sim phone to go for?
Thanks.

why over this? This has SD SoC that has another Mediatek, and cameras sound poor. This also has Android One - I think this probably wins IMHO.

I'd probably agree with you, I was just giving a response assuming he'd considered this, tyr had just posted that deal so it flagged up as another option.

I wouldn't say this or that we're the best phones under £100 though, I'd rather get an older flagship personally, but not everyone is like me, and I'm assuming you're the same as me.

somewhere along that line, though I tend to look more at 6 month old midrange on a stonking deal and change up often...Ascend G300>.Moto G>G2>Xperia Z1>G4 Plus>X Play>G5Plus>Nokia 7 Plus>LG G6 (while N7+ being repaired)>Nokia 7.2 >Moto One Zoom (currently).
Most sold close to purchase price...

I got the 7.2 before general release though on the eBay 20% code. It was fine enough (if a little glitchy), but I wanted the zoom and bigger battery on the Zoom and I missed the Moto gestures.

Difficult question to answer, The Honor 8 has the best chipset (flagship) so should be the fastest in theory but is a bit older now so os and security updates are lacking. Also emui isn't as smooth as on Android one on the mia2. But if you plan to buy an older phone I doubt you will be getting updates for any longer than a year for any of these anyway (not an issue to me). Also may not be considered as future proof as it's a 16:9 phone with bezel. I also have mi A2 which has a solid mid range chipset and will probably get security updates for another year and maybe another os update. Both the mia2 and Honor 8 are duel SIM but p smart is single so you may want to avoid it. Also no headphone jack on the A2 or sim card slot but honor 8 has both. They all have very solid builds so no issues there. As far as screen I'd say the Honor 8 is best, followed by the p smart then mi A2, but they are all decent. If you like small compact phones I'd go with the Honor, if you like big phones the a2, or big screens in a small body the p smart. Overall I'd personally probably go for the Honor but the screen is quite a bit smaller so maybe the mia2 if that's an issue. I'd recommend either of those over the p smart unless the p smart hits that absolute sweet spot size wise (for me it's the perfect size, same as the Honor 10). If you're considering the A2 but don't like the size maybe consider the A2 lite too as it's smaller but with a slightly poorer chipset (still good) but with a SD card and headphone jack. This would probably be better than the p smart thinking about it. Sorry it's kind of hard to narrow things down to simply "best" as it's a very subjective thing and there's usually positives and negatives to each phone! Hope this helps though.

Oh, and if you're including the Honor 9 and 10, I'd definitely take either over the A2, with the Honor 10 by far the best option. Specs on par with iPhone X, charge time is insane (60% in 30 mins)..picked one up for £140 on Amazon which is crazy for the price.

Including all I mentioned Honor 10>Honor 9>LG g6>Honor 8 (probably negligible difference)>Mi A2>Mi A2 lite>Huawei p smart. But again depends on size/Os preferances etc
