Nokia. It's like sticking an MG badge on some Chinese tat.

Yeah, gutted they aren't in deals, zero exposure in discussions sadly.

Cracking handset for the price. Would love to go back to Nokia eventually. But, can't get away from Xiaomi gesture navigation on android. Absolutely sublime
That umidigi f2 look a bit more tempting.....
Fab deal OP, reviews are pretty good, for some it can challenge Pixel 3a for mid-range crown. At this price probably better value, unless serious camera fan. Motorola One Zoom, One Vision, G7+ in contention too, Mi 9T, P30 Lite etc.
Great price for a new release

They've changed their updates policy apparently for the good; it's a great feat from them to be able to ship with Android 10 in the first place. Thumbs up!

It's gonna be trickier to match an Android One phone, month after month over 3 years...
How does this comparing to Mi9 lite in video recording? And in general? I bought a P20 Pro but am very disappointed with its video recording (photo is brilliant), my old Xiaomi Note 5 Pro does a much better job on video. If this (or Mi9 lite) does better on video, I am looking into changing. Please comment.
I love my Nokia 7.1, it's a great device but a terrible phone - keeps dropping out during calls. So annoying.

That's strange. I've had my Nokia 7.1 a while and it's never dropped out during a call.
I'd contact Nokia if I were you as it sounds faulty

Gestures are coming to Android 10. I've missed the gestures from Motorola too.

I wouldn't get hung up on the Zeiss name, they just license the name really. That said, the main camera seems fairly good apparently, but the wide angle comes in for quite a bit of stick. Luckily for me I'm not bothered about wide angle cameras.

I think they work together, just like Huawei and Leica staff. They also worked with another company on the imaging chip (Nokia 9). Still, the results depend hugely on the software work, as much as camera hardware; that's where Nokia is struggling to catch up with leaders

Absolutely, at this point it's all about the software beyond a hygiene level on the lenses

Microsoft sold Nokia to Foxconn about 3 years ago, they make very good equipment.
I bought my 7.1 for £100 brand new about 6 months ago and other than the camera being a bit average so far it has been faultless.
Is this phone the Pre-brexit-European/UK version ? Is not specified anywhere? The Indian version of the phone doesn't have NFC and in the specs (ebay) it doesn't mention it either.
Makes me sad to see an iconic brand who revolutionised so much in phones struggling to make it.
No offence at all to you op, but this is why posting Megathreads in discussions is useless, this phone (Nokia 7.2) I posted here hotukdeals.com/dis…938

Yesterday, only for this post (I'm guessing unbeknownst to the op) to be posted as a separate deal.

A company that was a market leader. Failed to invest due to greed and profit.

Treated customers horribly for a decade. Wiping warranty by claiming liquid damage.
No stores, no complaint procedures, outsource everything.

It’s like going back to the cowboy builder who botched your extension and asking him to build a house because their under new management.

Same old tat

I don't know but the top end mi9s seem to have better video recording than P20 ( I think the p20 is better in some respects with photos) . though I am no expert.

Yep, I'd still rather have a 2019 MG and Nokia than either from 10-15 years ago.
Blimey that black hole camera though
really like my nokia 7.1 and would reccomend... except............. No wifi calling (in the uk at least) which ruins the phone somewhat for me.

other than that cracking phone for the money so i guess 7.2 will be as well.... needs wifi calling support (no idea if 7.2 has it but if it does i would be pi**ed that they didnt add to the 7.1 as well.
Triple camera.. wtf.. I only want one camera, not facing me when im using the phone.. my last Nokia was pants.. 2018 one
hmm nice phone... i just got me a moto one vision from lenovo for £240? 3% cashback and 10% off code for first time customers...

I have the nokia 7.1 and it seems a little flakey sometimes, its randomly restarts, have no ide why its quite new and well looked after.

I dont care about the whole bokeh camera thing but inclusion of the wide-angle lens really helps when you want to take a shot in front of buckingham palace or a breathtaking scenery from the hilltop. Helps you fit more into the frame.
Got my nana a 7.1 for about £100ish last month. Really excellent phone, on a S8+ myself and thought it seemed really good quality. Considering Nokia for my next one
The real question here is does it play snake

At least it's not like those PlayStation Network or Xbox sales megathreads, or the eBay code megathreads, or the Amazon Prime Day megathreads, which still end up with masses of people posting individual discounts of said sales just to get 'heat' like it's some sort of badge of honour and 'reward', when in reality HotUKDeals cares only for the extra affiliate links.

If you're serious about video recording, get a Samsung S/Note series, Sony flagship, LG V series or iPhone, even old models, otherwise a phone with OIS like Motorola G7+ or especially designed for video like Moto One Action, that's all I can say

(Yes you've read right, it's me recommending iPhones, for the record)

It's still the actual Nokia people who own and run the company.
Also, "Chinese Tat" is a very 70' and 80's outlook.
And possibly racist.

BTW, I don't own a Nokia nor work for them!

What would you recommend? I only have a budget of £220. Need to have NFC and good video recordings (for lessons, so clear and loud sound, bright pictures - without the need of editting). Thanks

Nokia has good sound recording, called Ozo 360° Spatial Audio,
ozo.nokia.com/en/blog/enabling-immersive-sound-with-ozo-audio.html

However, video recording quality is poor on 7.2, according to TechRadar; Nokia 8's is better, as described in
m.gsmarena.com/nokia_8-review-1644p9.php

You can pick up a refurb for little money today or tomorrow, before end of eBay promotion, on Stock Must Go, will try to find link (just expired unfortunately). You can surely find it for about £100-120 elsewhere, will try to find a deal and include the link below:

rover.ebay.com/rov…373

rover.ebay.com/rov…858

Other options: Samsung S8 refurb, £160,
hotukdeals.com/deals/s8-plus-grade-b-unlocked-17596-wcode-at-ebay-wjd-store-s8-grade-b-15996-3309691

There you go, two good options, one cheaper than the other, both well within your budget, you can compare both phones' video recording ability on YouTube etc, before buying

I had a Nokia 8 for a year, for the price it was a very good phone. Just don't expect the same build quality of a Samsung or iPhone. These phones are perfect for a youngster or perhaps someone a bit older who doesn't need the latest £1000 smart phone. They really are good value, the gap between the mid/lower range phones and the top end is getting smaller.
Sorry Nokia but your good days are long behind you. Xiaomi is the future
