still extremely overpriced and unreasonable terms (18 month contracts). Do yourself a favour and save your self £600 and buy an unlocked iphone or get an N95 on contract.

Completely

I have a ipod touch and they are good but

a) They are overpriced and people who wanted them have them. most supplier would need go for the secondary market and adjust prices accordingly by reducing the price of the handset ( which is a joke ) and the tariff ( which was more than sufficent for most people ( people use a lot less texts and calls than they think!)

b) Apple are actually worried about the sales of the iphone in the UK and in europe. Sales figures for UK, usually shown separate, were shown within a Europe group for probably the most obvious reason

c) They are also worried that over 30% of iphones in the US will be "unlocked" by the end of the year and the cash cow will start to go especially as other phones copy the functionality whilst not breaching patents. Touch screens are not patented but coverflow maybe is

Until the prices come down to realistic levels I will stay with my sony ericcsoon as a phone and ipod touch as a MP3 et al

Extra Goods on the tariff are like BOGOF bread to a individual who lives by her/himself and does not like freezing bread. f....g useless

Also this isnt a hot deal. Its the normal price.

When ever anyone mentions the N95, they say wow look at the camera, it does GPS but they fail to say that its an absolute brick in size that can't slip into your pocket if your wearing jeans. The media functions are appalling, awful menus and more fun watching video on a Casio TV watch in the 1980's.

My iPhone is unlocked and my previous phone was the Nokia but it got stolen. I'm still grateful for the theft.

I'll agree with you on the brick part and that is why I currently have my sony E on a sim only contract hoping that some day in the next 6 months apple play ball or other i-phone clones take the market

Nothing risky about unlocked iphone mate as long as you don't update firmware it cost you around £260 for the handset on contract yet you can get them unlocked on ebay for around £300 can't believe o2 expect people to sign up to an 18 month contract knowing this

Untill they double if not treble the size and add a remotely reasonable connection speed it's just not going to take off. I've seen just two commuting through the City each day, now I'd have thought if anybody were going to buy them it would be city boys.

My housemate has ]HSDPA, now that's a mobile connection. GPRS is just never going to cut the mustard IMO

Why does everyone compare the iphone to the N95?? - The N95 is a heap. 1 day battery if your lucky. Gps that does not work. Camera is ok, but still poor for 5mp.

Iphone is Apples first phone, and to be honest, its one of the best out on the market. Could you say that for nokia first phones? ? Hmm let me think, NK402? -

I agree that the iphone is very expensive and definitely has its draw backs. It’s well out of my price range and frankly not worth the money. I will wait until it can the price comes down and my ipod breaks and even then maybe just go for the Itouch.
HOWEVER,
It is nice to be kept up to date with any movements in the market which suggest that people like O2 are starting to target the secondary market.
So all in all, I agree with the criticisms of the product and the price, but thank the original poster for keeping us informed! Ok, that said – maybe this should go in to the misc section ???????????

Yeah, there was a nice bit of info a couple of weeks ago when one of the IT mags said that Apple told O2 not to release figures to their own shareholders on how many iPhones had been sold. Says it all really! Overpriced, as usual from Apple, but thanks to iconcreative for giving us an update, cheers mate!

Nothing risky with my unlocked iPhone, unless your a bit thick its a piece of cake.

Most companies state an 18month contract but you get a discount on the phone associated with the contract compared with the sim free / unbranded version.

Anyone who buys an o2 iphone contract wants their bumps feeling

Oh god i hate the N95. It was the worst Series 60 Nokia I'd used and I was a S60 fan. Plasticky, brick sized heap of cr4p.

I got the iPhone on launch day. Was already paying 35 quid a month so no difference. Get a good web browsing experience with Edge (don't notice the difference between this and O2s 3G connection) and personally now, I don't know what I'd do if the iPhone wasn't around. It's been a "life saver" several times now.

Bit sick of reading needless b1tching by all the Apple haters on this forum. If you don't like their products, do yourself and everyone else a favour and avoid Apple "deals" on here!

It's not hard.

And how exactly has the IPhone it been a "life saver" exactly ...

No vote as it's not really a deal, but thanks all the same to OP for letting us know.

"Meeow, that kitten's got claws!"

lol at people saying the N95 is a brick, the iphone is wider and longer than the N95 and only abit thinner so how can the N95 be a brick

the iphone is a nice phone i gotta admit and the homebrew scene is v.good for it, but nowhere near worth as much as they want as with all other apple products

just sold an iphone on ebay for £330 unlocked so im quite happy about that lol

the N95 is by far the best overall handset on the market atm and i dont know how anyone could deny that

Few facts for you
The iphone weighs 135 grams the N95 120
The iphone is 115mm in height the N95 99
The iphone is 61mm in width the N95 is 53
The only area it is smaller is in depth at 12mm compared to 21 on the N95
So that sort of makes your brick comment look a bit daft and ill informed, just as well us "apple haters" are around to correct people like you, anyway im off to listen to my ipod...

Also interesting to read analysts reports that suggest over a million iphones in circulation that are unlocked for use on other networks, I'm surprised Apple have been allowed to conduct such restrictive practises in the first place.

Your presumption in that statment is that "applefanboys" read and understand

1. They don't let facts get in the way of making a point!

2. If they read the actual posts in my case they will see I have an ipodtouch and like it. The issue with the iphone is that it not simply a little overpriced as with the ipod touch but massively overpriced

They want you to buy the phone @ nearly £300 sovs on a significant phone package which most others would give away on a 18 month contract

They (Apple) are making a fortune not only out of selling the phone but the on-going contract. For the US if the 30% unlocked phones were on contract with AT&T they would have an extra $0.5 billion per annum income and clear profit!

They can because the definition of restrictive practices applies to a market and in this case the market is defined widely as the mobile phone market and therefore consumers have a choice.

Are you being serious?? No, really... are you?

I'm b1tching about ONE Nokia product. Not their entire range. I've always been a Nokia owner until now.

According to the link in the OP, £35 gets you 200/200 and not 600/500 (thats £45 pm)?

N20Y1D;1522853

So that sort of makes your brick comment look a bit daft and ill informed

Did I say the iPhone WAS smaller? No. So who looks daft and ill informed now?

I said the N95 was a brick.

Hold the two phones in your hand. Slide the two phones into a pocket.

The N95 is chunky and plasticky.

The iPhone is slim and feels sturdy. If I slide it into my pocket you can barely tell it's there.

N20Y1D;1522853

just as well us "apple haters" are around to correct people like you

Oh okay, look... I'm sorry that I b1tched about your N95. It's the best thing since sliced bread. Okay? Happy now? Good.

Now go run along and play nicely.

Do people always have to moan and snipe at each other, talking about 'applelovers or haters' jesus, have you seriously got nothing better to do? How the heck can different cultures be expected to get along, when people bicker over such trivial issues.

If you people dislike the iPhone that much then why view the post. Perhaps it just gives some people something else to moan about.

...and along comes the torrent of abuse I'll get just for saying, for god sake get along with each other!

Okay, being serious for a moment... What is your problem? How can you hate a company or a product and/or the users of that product SO much that you have to waste energy and time baiting them on a forum?

I don't just buy Apple products. I pick and choose what brands I want to buy. If the iPhone fits my needs then I can buy it without being berated by some nut job on a forum.

Whoa Nelly... ease up there. When did I call YOU an Apple hater?

I said I was a bit sick of all the Apple haters on these forums. There are MANY of them and I don't think anyone can fail to notice that. Almost everytime an offer is posted for an Apple product, there's a torrent of abuse about Apple products.

At no time have I called you an Apple hater. I didn't even respond to a post by you!! Go back and read my first comment again. It was considerably less inflamatory than the majority of other posts on here but I was sticking up for one Apple product so I took stick.

You're the one that waded in with "makes your brick comment look a bit daft and ill informed".

So dear, how about you calm down?

Think of anyone that springs to mind? Yeh, I know, you've already said you don't don't. I beleive you, thousands wouldn't.You can buy whatever you like. Dont think anyone has suggested you cant. You can even berate and be a "nut job" on Nokia N95 users if it rocks your boat. But don't come back and moan afterwards about how unfair it is that iSheep users get picked on. Lets face it, the only thing you seem to suggest makes it a great product is the fact it *fits* nicely in your pocket. You seem a very sensitive individual looking at your other replies. If you dont like sarcasm etc, then dont reply in such an antogonistic and patronising way. I can do so because I really dont care!!!!Indeed. "So dear, how about you calm down?"

Dear me. If I actually thought you believed ANY of what you've just drivelled, rather than it just being you trying to defend an asinine, bigoted opinion, I'd waste time picking holes in what you've said.

I'm guessing you're already well aware of your holes though. Although you do appear to be talking out of the wrong one.
