Price includes 4 Night Stay in the Keflavik Hotel with Breakfast included and Free airport Transfers provided by the hotel and return flights with Easyjet. The luggage allowance that you can take on board is more than adequate for a four night break as there are no weight restrictions, but do check out those sizes.

There are cheaper hotels or other ways to bring this price down, i.e by staying in a hostel if you are not too fussy but this hotel seemed to me to be the best value for money.

The flight prices are the same also for 14th Sept. I will add additional date options at the bottom of this thread as and when I come across them.

In the heart of Keflavik, Hotel Keflavik is close to Reykjanes Art Museum and Duus Hus Cultural Centre. This 4-star hotel is within the region of Blue Lagoon. Make yourself at home in one of the 70 air-conditioned rooms featuring minibars and CD players. Complimentary wired and wireless Internet access keeps you connected, and cable programming provides entertainment. Private bathrooms have makeup/shaving mirrors and designer toiletries. Conveniences include direct-dial phones, as well as safes and desks

Are the Northern Lights visible in September?

Always wanted to go and this could be perfect, just before going back to uni.

May be a silly question...but what are the chances of seeing the lights in September? I know of course it's no guaranteed to see them but compared to other times of the year?

The deeper in winter you go the better but should be visible then.

I was looking into this when checking out this holiday price, I read on a few forums of people have been in all months between September and April that have seen them. I also read of people visiting in all of the months in between and not seeing them I dont think any month is going to gaurantee you a spot but at 4 nights you have a good chance

OOOO!!!! I want to go to the Northern Lights!!!!

It's the start of the best time really. September to march for Iceland is good but you have to have clear skies obviously. I know people who have been four times and had cloud cover each time for a whole week. The best displays are on clear crisp nights when the sun emits bursts of solar winds which glow when they hit and get trapped in the magnetic fields at the poles. You can google for the solar winds strength predictions and combined with a good weather forecast, see the lights. Booking as far ahead as September without that information is just a gamble.

Should have added before I get pulled to pieces. It's still a good deal for 4 nights with flights and even if you don't get to see the lights there's lots to see like the hot springs, geothermal spa and the spot where the tectonic plates meet at the mid Atlantic ridge. If you find the right spot you can stand with one foot on the North American plate and the other on the Eurasian plate. Just hope they don't shift...

There's actually a northern light forecast (I found it the other day while googling for some lights made in the north)...but I doubt it goes out as far as September (it might have some historic data though)

Can you not put a deposit down? It's asking me to pay all 449 (with an extra bag and insurance added) all at once?

Cold. Let's get that fire started!

We went in October and the nights were long and dark enough to see the lights then. Middle of September should be fine but you might have to wait until 10/11 pm.

I wouldn't bother with one of the big organised excursions: hire a car and go out somewhere yourselves, or just go for a walk out of town a little bit.

Loads of excursions run from Reykjavik every day, even out of season Not sure how good things are from keflavik, but you can always hire a car.

Everyone thinks Iceland is expensive. We found it similar to UK prices for most things.

It was expensive, but the financial chaos following their banking collapse meant they had to devalue their currency - bringing prices more in line with the UK.

Brilliant News Brian, I hope you have a fantastic time

Came back 3 weeks ago but wasn't lucky enough to see them

it is expensive.

The days were very short at that time too about 5 hours of daylight.

Loved the place though

Darkness is required. Most Northern Lights locations are found at high latitudes, meaning there is no darkness from mid-April until mid-August (even more in far northern locations like Svalbard). In this period of time, no Northern Lights can be observed.

In the most intense Northern Lights area (notably Alaska, Yukon, Iceland and Northern Scandinavia), the lights are observed from late August to mid April. However, from late September to late March, it is dark after 6pm, and one enjoys maximum chances.

On a yearly basis, the Lights are at their peak in September and March. The reasons for this trend are due to the March and September equinox.

Could you help finding somewhere for 2 adults from 11th of april till the 14th please wanna go away for my tenth anniversary but I'm no good when it comes to finding somewhere cheap enough

Would love to see this one day.

We got back from reykjavik on Friday it's amazing, just do it, we were lucky and saw the northern lights but they were a pulse on the horizon. We did it cheap from Manchester with icelandair and combined it with a trip to New York (deal posted October time). As our flights were to JFK I don't know the man-kev flight price but we paid £550 each for flights 3 nights in apartment in reykjavik and 5 nights hotel in New York. There are lots of apartments for around €100 a night and you don't have to eat in the expensive restaurants. We stopped at grettisgata 3 and it was lovely

Reykjavik is expensive but got to the bars at happy hour. Go jewellery shopping it's amazing

Personally I would stay in reykjavik as kevlavik is 45 mins from reykjavik and the tour buses won't pick you up from kevlavik so you'd have to hire a car or spend a fortune on the bus.
