The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B represents a major performance increase over its single-core based predecessors: up to six times faster in fact. As well as a new quad-core Cortex-A7 processor, the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B now features 1GB of RAM memory. The operating system kernel has been upgraded to take full advantage of the latest ARM Cortex-A7 technology and is available with the new version 1.4 of NOOBS software. Backward application hardware and software compatibility has been maintained with the Raspberry Pi 1 Model A+/B+.

Broadcom BCM2836 ARMv7 Quad Core Processor powered Single Board Computer running at 900MHz
1GB RAM so you can now run bigger and more powerful applications
Identical board layout and footprint as the Model B+, so all cases and 3rd party add-on boards designed for the Model B+ will be fully compatible.
Fully HAT compatible
40pin extended GPIO to enhance your "real world" projects
10/100 Ethernet Port to quickly connect the Raspberry Pi to the Internet

Great price for a device with those specs

Will be interesting to see what people can do with it compared to the old model

Currently 2.50 cheaper than CPC/Element 14 - no idea as to other stores, as at the time of writing I think it was embargoed to 09:00 this morning. Bought mine from RS, 45 minutes ago! :-)

And to think that 10,000 boards was the Raspberry PI foundations original sales estimate.

Yeah it glitched with me too the first time, it was still in my basket, I just went through checkout again and it took it.

No idea. Probably swamped - I placed an order as guest before the site announcement, and it went through immediately - however I don't have card password / 3d secure or whatever it is called on the card I used. Confirmation order email also arrived in my mail almost instantly.

It's there but doesn't work - or at least for guest checkout. (it says OK but doesn't change value) Although after checkout and registering as a user, it does say use that code for 10% off next order

I added GUEST01 and appears on the list of promo codes but hasn't changed the value of the order

Try registering first then use the code

That doesn't work either, I've just tried - maybe they excluded the product from the discount

So I've cancelled my order for the cheap Amazon B+. Hope I was in time.

Anyone remember this exchange on that deal's thread two days ago?

Amazing price! I suspect there's a newer model coming out soon!

edit- cancellation confirmed!

Edited by: "LongPockets" 2nd Feb 2015

I had presumed they meant a stable platform as in hardware size, and on the layout the positioning of ports. This was so that the peripherals, cases, HATs etc. could be swapped around the (A|B)+ models.

Now I am wondering if there is going to be an Pi2 A+

Now down to less than 18,500 units but looks like there's a restock in a couple of weeks.

Presuming a 25,000 stock at RS, that is 6500 in 2 hours - that is roughly slightly less than 1 a second...

that doesn't account for multibuys, or reseller orders.

With the distance selling laws you can return within 14 days.

every time i buy their latest model they bring out a fecking new one! armv7 means it should be able to run unmodified debian, ubuntu, fedora, arch etc. none of this raspbian/pidora crap.

No wonder the older dropped in price a little. Heat and ordered.

will the case for the b+ fit these? I need to find a case somewhere, any suggestions?

All PI B+ cases work except for some pimorino pibow - there is a hole/cutout around the processor which doesn't fit, so you will need a new case /layer which they have worked on, and is available now.

Anyone know if you can run android on one of these?

Yes, it is exactly the same design port wise.

Does it have CEC support?

I am so glad I didn't go for the amazon deal
