Of course it'll.. First RPi had 256 mb and worked well. "Raspbmc" is recommended and google suggets 512MB has no advantage over the 256MB.

No problems running XBMC with 256MB RAM.

Then it must be time to play the "the micro-USB port is just for power" card

Where? I see 1 x USB and 1 x HDMI.

The A was original planned to have 128mb of ram. The move to 256mb was due to the success of B and a drop in ram costs.
All the original B's had 256mb for about 3 months.
This is a straight upgrade of the A not the B.
This uses less power, better audio, more GPIO and cheaper (plus a few other changes).

To the left of the HDMI is a MicroUSB.

The lack of Ethernet port will limit xbmc usage - since you will generally want to access files elsewhere.. which by the time you factor in a wifi connector (robbing of the 1 usb port - the other micro usb is the power connector) increases the cost to what you can get the B+ model for (with 4 usb ports too).

from Cpc Farnells that's available on the site the deal links to, then spend 5/10 minutes on the xbmc website to find out how to install and run..

If you're buying new, make sure you get a B+ as opposed to just a B (unless you're getting a B dirt cheap and are happy with it). The B+ has 4 USB ports, better quality analogue audio output and uses less power.

ewwaxo

not ideal.

Then get the Model B.

The Model A is designed to be cheap and generally used in education.

it does have a micro-sd slot tho...

It's got a micro SD slot on the underside of the board? If you don't like the fact that it isn't a full size card that's fair enough, but it would have been good if you had acknowledged that you knew it had a micro SD slot, in order to avoid confusion.

I have one I can sell you

There will, but its a different model for a different purpose - if you want to build a cheap xbmc setup, then thats ideal. But there are many parts of the pi that just aren't used by some people - for example, this model is pretty great for what i would want to use it for but i would suggest they could have gone even further and lost the HDMI out and shaved a little bit more of both the size and price.
