Bought one of these in the week, tiny little receiver, looks good, usb recording works fine, except my unit froze in that after an hour or two, the box would stop responding and would need power cycling, so took it back earlier today only to discover they have sold out of them :-(

Antone advise of a cheap reliable alternative for watching and recording to usb RTL channel (German 19.2 deg East for F1) ?

cheers
I haven't used my new receiver much yet -just a quick try-out and it seems to switch to HD channels more smoothly than the previous kit.
I've had the previous model of this (round grey button on receiver) for over a year and it hardly ever freezes ??

Yep, I'm sure it's fine, and my problem was with a one off issue with the box...to be honest if I can find another like this locally I'd buy it again as it's a neat little unit at a great price

This for example. Foreign dealer but reliable. Use your sky dish, realigned.
How good is the epg? And is the record to USB, record to memory sticks or can you use a hard drive?

The epg is typical now-and next rubbish.
The manual says USB stick or hdd .fat32 and ntfs.

hi just rang up my local b&Q and they say its 50 pounds instore??could you give us the model or catalogue number is urgently....
yeah i got one, had it since last summer, there are 2 usb slots on it,one at the back incase you want to connect a hardrive and one at the front of the unit, i just stick in a memory stick in that, plays music, photos, films. The hd channels you get are bbc1,itv,ch4, nfk news or something like that and bbc hd, i must say from going from my virgin media old style box to this, its out of this world, the hd channels are crystal clear in comparison to the old virgin box i have, just need bbc2 and ch5 to go hd now.
I did have trouble tuning it in,an even bought one of them satalite finders, which just kept beeping in any direction i turned the thing, called somebody out at the end to tune it in,worth the £20 it cost me though.

I was in B&Q yesterday and this was £40 there...

You need to turn the dial down so it only beeps in one direction, then move it until its loudest... turn it down a bit more, fine tune, turn it down some more... and so on.

Thing is, its not just up and down and left to right, its the skew on the LNB as well (although you ucan find this out online).

Try doing this with bigger dishes (90cm+), you'd think it would be easier... its a right PITA as it picks up multiple sats

I had several of these and everyone of them had a problem. Not worth the hassle iMHO. Tried asking B&Q to replace the unit, however they insisted i brought the whole package including the dish I'd PUT up just to get a new unit!!. Save yourself a world of pain its not worth scrimping on getting a decent system like a HD freesat BOX.
dog sh*t product took it back and got my money back.... when i took it back the lady said ohhhhhhh not another ..... one thought it was a good price at the time not for me so cold for me !!!!!
Model no. DVB-S2 1201 - the receiver pictured on the box is more rounded than the older model.
This one has only one USB slot on the side and is powered by a very short 12v power block.

B&Q are still selling the 'old' model for £49.99. This has a round , grey button in the middle of the receiver front.

Hi, just got the newer rounded model, anyone found the update for it yet?
Cheers
I bought one of these 4 days ago. Seems to work alright, although I can't get BBC HD, BBC one HD,
BBC 3 or BBC 4. Anyboby else had the same problem or found a workaround? Biggest problem is plowing your way through 1,000 plus channels.
You need to do a new scan and let it delete all existing channel lists as some channels have moved recently from the pre-programmed settings.
When using program edit I found it easier to delete a lot of unwanted channels than to keep moving other channels past them.

Hi

Update on the channels can be got from the ross website,
Fixes most of the missing channels
ross-av.co.uk/ros…ort
Just spoke to the tech support and they will get a full update out ASAP.

Just bought on of the HD DVB-S2 from B&Q. Can anyone explain what the GOTO button does 'cos whether I click it on the remote or click it on screen it does nothing!
Used in the Menu, look at the bottom of the screen and it says what the button does in that screen,
Can this be used to receive sports channels for football, that would normally be on sly sports?

No. This is for free to view channels only.
Bought one yesterday, £40...Looks piddly and cheap but works great, better Q than my Bravia built in Freesat. Quite easy to delete channels and then save db file on to usb. Works on ntfs ext hdd. MTS file format, editable in videoredo V4 H264. Compressable and convertible with Handbrake and Winff. One strange thing,,,, No bbc3 and no bbc4. I will post message when I figure out why.
dose this box work straight from the maines or a transformer?
