:-( No Freeview :-(

Within a few years analogue TV will be a thing of the past. I would never ever buy a TV without a digital tuner. Why buy something that will become obsolete when analogue is history. Yes, I know you can add a Freeview box but, that's nothing but a hassle, more wires, more power e.t.c. So, no Freeview = no way I'm afraid! :-(

Finally Samsung have updated their 19" range...

How on earth can you describe it as obsolete when you already have the options of Freeview, Cable, Sky, HD-DVD, BlueRay, PS3, PC, etc, etc, etc...

Plus TVs with freeview built tend to be more unreliable as you effectively have two devices in one box - best keep it seperate and have the ability to upgrade the tuner/input device as things progress.

But if a bit of wire and a plug puts you off.
So no console/s, DVD player/recorder, amp, 5:1/6:1/7:1 surround, cable, satelite, usb cup warmer, Lights.... in your house?

Ive been after this TV for a while, good spot, voted hot.

Yes, thinking before you post is always a good idea.

Perhaps you should Read other posts before yours Properly, preferably with your sense of humour turned on, before you diss people.

Hi Def Black & White TV is a novel idea, I wonder if it will ever take on?! That was a joke, just in case anyone else thought I was being serious!

Roll on 5 o clock!

Hmmm... must have been suffering from some form of temporary blindness, night time myopia perhaps. Yes, it does seem to have Freeview. I stand by my comments about TVs without Freeview built in though.

I bought a 23" Philips 5522D from Waitrose/John Lewis last week (as they price matched Richer Sounds and threw in a 5-year guarantee).

I took it back 2 days later as the vertical viewing angle was dreadful; bright from above, dark from below. Totally unsuitable for where I'd positioned it. When I took it back they said that they'd had similar problems with other Philips LCD TVs:-(

Awesome TV, had one since February (well the missus has, makes a lovely monitor for my pc at 1440 x 900 resolution, lol). For this price its even better and yes it does have HDMi and pc connections with the standard rf and scart.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set the volume on the samsung with a password so the kids can not have it loud?

I know some tvs have a feature to lock some menus etc.

If you don't mind watching 16:10 TV and not 16:9 then this is a good TV. I returned mine and got the 23" that displays at the correct ratio instead.

There is a similar spec TV but with a DVD included, HDMI, USB for the same price at Tesco.

direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

But it is a Technika brand.

]simon0w what 23" model do you have now? I guess it is a lot more that £249 though?

I bought a Technika from Tesco the other week. Took it back the next day as the picture quality and backlight bleed were horrible! I also tried a Wharfdale and Toshiba, all of which went back due to poor quality picture or backlight bleed. I've been waiting for this Samsung to come out.

Why is this so expensive? It’s a 19” TFT monitor with a TV tuner and more input options for about £150 more than a monitor!

It will have to upscale 720P footage which isn’t ideal although it might be better for 1080i material. It’s 16/10 also as it’s a monitor so again not ideal. Voted cold.

Can it be wall mounted?

I might get one if so, but if not I won't bother.

I agree on the more wires aspect but 'hassle'? Freeview boxes just plug in and work without any further set up. Also maybe you do not want Freeview (if you use Sky instead etc). A seperate freeview box prob wouldnt take any more power than a TV with a digital tuner - the tuner would still have to be powered.

Because its a lifestyle TV, not a monitor with a tv tuner. For the price its a good deal and its hot.
