Fair enough, your money at the end of the day. I'm just sharing an experience I had buying an electrical item off Ebay and expected to have manufacturer warranty... and they wouldn't touch it. Best of luck with your purchase.

New Samsung Galaxy S9 for £639.99 with *2 YEAR SAMSUNG WARRANTY*

Be careful as ebay isn't seen as a retail shop and alot of warranty terms require you to buy from an authorised seller. As long as the warranty is with the seller (and what's not to say he shuts up shop tomorrow and no forwarding address) as Samsung may refuse it. I've had it in the past with other manufacturers as I bought from ebay.

Not really the case. As long as it's under Samsung warranty, doesn't matter if you bought it from a retailer or an individual. Once you receive the phone, just check the serial number with Samsung and how long the warranty is on the phone. Simple. I've done this with many Samsung products, never had an issue.

Edit: Just got to make sure it's not from the other side of the world, in which case it wouldn't be covered by Samsung UK for warranty

Apple are also like this too. Bought 2 ipads from ebay in the past, phone Apple, and they tell you when warranty runs out. If its never been turned on (which automatically registers it), then they start the warranty right then.

Also Sony honour warranty from purchases from Ebay. Someone bought my phone (off Ebay), that developed a fault just before the 2 years was up, and they repaired that with no issues without any proof of purchase, except the online registration that was done by me when i bought it.

What product are you taking about? I'm intrigued.

It was an LG G5 brand new and sealed. Made sure was the EU version and still wouldn't honour the warranty, luckily Vodafone helped out and discounted a repair then I sold on never to use LG again. I was told most manufacturers require a valid proof of purchase from a authorised seller, ebay not being an authorised seller.

That may be the case for LG but is certainly not the case with Samsung. Not all the manufacturers will refuse the warranty on their devices.
Is it 2 year UK/EU warranty or 2 year Chinese warranty with s9+?

I too had a bad experience with LG. Had proof of purchase and everything.
HOW MANY YEARS WARRANTY!!!!
Buy at your own risk - I've had Samsung refuse to repair an S6 edge under warranty without receipt from UK retailer. What an ebay seller claims and what Samsung will actually do are 2 different things - they are not like Apple as far as warranty goes
Before buying, I'd call Samsung UK and check about the warranty

Without an IMEI ?
I'd double check the terms and conditions before purchasing as warranties are not all the same.

Google offer 2 year warranty on the pixel 2 range with the proviso you have proof of purchase, without it a claim cannot me made.
