New Samsung S10+ 128GB £705 On O2 Refresh

Posted 11th Jul
Another O2 refresh deal.

Make sure to select a tariff over 30GB data month to claim a free gift of either:

(i) 2 Diggit Bluetooth Outdoor Speakers with Stereo Pairing Ability in wood

(ii) a Kitvision Action Cam bundle which includes action camera, extension stick, floating pole and memory card; or

(iii) a pair of JLABS Audio Epic 2 Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless Sport Earbuds

Many have had success of claiming a further £75 off the phone cost in O2 refresh deals, so worth trying that over live chat first as well.

Bear in mind this is the phone paid off in full, and will require a credit check to successfully get this price for the handset.

Click on 'Get Deal'. Scroll to towards the bottom of the page and there is a 'Pay Off Device in Full' button. Click that and you will be shown Device cost of £705. Then pick a tariff. (As mentioned in OP, if you want the free gift then select one that is over 30GB of data per month). Once you have picked up the phone you can cancel the airtime part of the contract as the device is paid off already.

There is lots of help on O2 refresh deals in the comment sections of other O2 refresh deals, and plenty of experts on it.I have never done one myself, but people on here are generally very helpful if you have questions about it.

If you are considering this deal, then make sure to try and get the extra £75 off through live chat, again plenty of comments saying that have managed to get it in other O2 refresh posts on this site.

Thanks for the reply, I thought you could just buy the phone without a contract my mistake, if it was just £705 for phone may of took it out then I would of taken the 50gb of data unlimited texts unlimited minutes through uswitch for £20 a month. So unfortunately this deal not for me

Yeah that is right. You will end up without a contract. the £705 is for the device only and it will be unlocked. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

Yep very important. I stuck that in the OP as well
Live chat opened at 8am and I was straight on and spoke to someone who was more than happy to give the extra £75 off the upfront, making this £630. Happy to post my chat messages if anyone wants help getting the discount!

I think £630 is brilliant for this phone

You call and cancel it as soon as you receive the phone to get the price I have quoted. You can keep it as long as you want but O2 airtime is not very competitive.

Bargain price then. Especially if you hand your 30 day notice in as soon as you get the phone. I done this the the wifes honor view 20 when it first came out and got it for £450 for the 8gb ram one and cancelled the monthly SIM.
If you cancel the airtime plan would they still honor the gift would be the question, as this part is reliant on the airtime plan being >30GB.

Lots of successes with devices themselves in the O2 refresh space

Free Gift: Claim one of the following gifts: (i) 2 Diggit Bluetooth Outdoor Speakers with Stereo Pairing Ability in wood; (ii) a Kitvision Action Cam bundle which includes action camera, extension stick, floating pole and memory card; or (iii) a pair of JLABS Audio Epic 2 Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless Sport Earbuds (“Gift”) when you buy: (i) any handset on an O2 Refresh tariff with 30GB of data and above; (ii) any tablet on an O2 Refresh tariff with 10GB of data and above; or (iii) a SIM Only tariff with 50GB of data and above, direct from O2 between 4 July and 4 September 2019 ("Qualifying Purchase").

To claim a Gift, complete online redemption process on o2.co.uk/gift within 30 calendar days of purchase. Proof of purchase is required. Subject to availability, while stocks last. No cash or alternatives. Damaged or lost redemption leaflets will not be replaced. Offer may be withdrawn or amended at any time. Change of mind policy applies to Qualifying Purchase and Gift as a bundle. If you return the Qualifying Purchase without the Gift you will be charged the standard retail price for the Gift. Internet access is required. Terms apply, see o2.co.uk/terms.

I assume the 'qualifying purchase' is the 30GB monthly contract

It’s a good point and difficult to know for sure. One of the options when buying a refresh is cancelling in the first 14 days and returning everything, so maybe you could argue the qualifying product is the handset, and if you have paid it off and are not returning it, it will still work? I assume O2’s systems will just show you as a settled account, not a cancelled one

Potentially - worse case scenario is £29 is the cheapest 1 month contract, so if the gift you want is more expensive than that just give notice immediately and keep the airtime plan for one month and you're still quids in :).
To be honest this is a great deal without the gift. Getting the gift free, as well as cancelling contract would be a bit cheeky.

I am torn as I want a smaller phone so have my eyes set on the regular S10

Weirdly, the standard size S10 is more expensive than this on O2 refresh! Something will crop up for that size though no doubt.

Great stuff. I have just come off the phone from o2, she confirmed no charges for the cancellation of the airtime. £630 all in
will the device be unlocked?

It is O2 locked as standard but they will offer to unlock it when you cancel the airtime. Mine was done 15 minutes later and I'm using old sim in new phone right now
I've just ordered this via the online chat function, and was offered the £75 discount when I increased it to the 40GB package from my 'recommended' one. The chat advisor told me that I could cancel the airtime part of the contract any time. The only annoying thing was how long the process took (while I was at work at the same time!). The payment went wrong also and my card got billed twice! Still though, £630 is a great price for this phone. It's a massive upgrade for my old S8. I'm going to pair it with a 15gb SIM from BT so will have outdoor Bluetooth speakers stashed everywhere!

T&C's do state if it's cancelled within the cooling off period you have to return the gift, so keeping the sim for a month before cancelling is your best bet.

"7. Change of mind policy applies to Qualifying Purchase and Gift as a bundle. If you want to cancel your Qualifying Purchase within the change-of-mind period then you are no longer eligible to participate in this Offer and you must return your Free Gift too, or you will be charged the standard retail price for the gift. If you wish to return the Free Gift, you must also return your Qualifying Purchase."

It's very long so I have copied the important bits:

Hello, it's Bryan here. I hope you're well. How can I help?
Bryan• 8:00 AM

Good morning, I am very well thank you. I hope you are too.
Rob • 8:01 AM

Good morning, Rob.
Bryan• 8:01 AM

I am looking at an O2 refresh offer on the S10+. I like the deal, and I have friends who have managed to get an extra £75 off the upfront cost when paying the device off in full and taking a larger airtime contract. I wondered if I can do the same? I would be taking the 40GB data per month contract to get the free earphones
Rob • 8:02 AM

Sure, I'll be happy to help you with that.
Bryan• 8:03 AM

......talks about getting a suitable data allowance etc. etc. then goes find a deal........

Thanks for waiting
Bryan• 8:11 AM

We have Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus 128GB on pay for your device is full option for upfront device payment of £705.00 with £33.00 per month for 100GB data tariff on O2 refresh plan with Unlimited Text and Unlimited Minutes within the UK
Bryan • 8:12 AM

Yeah that's very good. Will I get the £75 discount with that?
Rob • 8:13 AM

On this deal I can waive off the £75.00 on the upfront so you need to pay £630.00 while processing the order
Bryan • 8:14 AM

Yeah that is perfect, that's the one I would like please
Rob • 8:14 AM

Great.
Bryan• 8:16 AM

I'll help you with the order process
Bryan• 8:16 AM

........talks about lots of other products like laptops, smart watches and insurances and stuff. I let him do his stuff and turn it all down anyway.......

........He goes through some key questions, talks about spend cap among lots of other things, terms and conditions......

He sends you a unique link that will take you a basket with all the details preloaded on, including the £75 discount.

Importantly he says:

"The device you’re interested in is available on O2 refresh.

O2 Refresh includes two contracts and two monthly bills - one for your device and one for your airtime minutes, texts and data. All bills must be paid by direct debit.
The device plan is an interest free regulated consumer credit agreement (CCA) with Telefonica UK Limited over Monthly rolling Airtime Plan. If you choose a Device Plan you will need to have a pay monthly airtime Plan with us for the length of the Device Plan term. You can repay the full loan amount at any time without penalty. Once you have paid off the device, you can stay connected to an airtime or data plan for as long as you want to, or upgrade to a brand new device or leave. This gives you flexibility to change your device whenever you want."

Which gave me the confidence I would be able to walk away after paying the £630.

Hello... Amazing price... What am I missing though as I cannot find a £75 voucher code online?
Can I get this deal if I'm already on an O2 contract which runs out in Feb? Was going to cancel the sim part of the deal after a month and use the one from my existing plan. Please advise.

Hi, the £75 voucher is discretionary from the live chat staff. It is not guaranteed, so I have not included it as part of the price here, but if you get it then the total is actually £630!

I posted my chat transcript of how easily I managed to get it yesterday, it’s only a couple of comments above.

Yes of course. This is you buying this handset outright, paying for it in full. You will then need a working SIM card to insert into the device so you can use it, so the fact you already have one is a bonus.

Unless you need the SIM you get with this deal for a full month, then I wouldn’t even wait that long, cancel the day you get the phone. Otherwise you are paying for 2 SIMs for no reason. I did it yesterday. Ordered at 8.30am, picked up phone at about 11am. My Vodafone SIM was working in the new phone and airtime was cancelled by about midday.

Make sure you try and get the £75 voucher from live chat if you go for this, brings it down to £630 total. See my comment of my chat transcript above.

Sorry I have only just seen this comment.

I had EXACTLY the same problem, I have paid the £630 twice. I have since called O2 customer services a couple of times and spoken to different people and everybody says it is a known issue that is being fixed, and one payment will be automatically refunded within 72 hours. Let me know how you get on, I am worried about it! I am going to call my bank today to speak to them about it too.

The second transaction of £630 is still sitting in my 'pending' transactions on my credit card, so I doubt it will actually come out as the payment that worked has gone already. I now have my phone up and running on the SIM from my old contract. Have not opened the o2 SIM, but not cancelled the airtime either as I wanted a crack at claiming the free gift - the link to claim it says come back on the the 18th. This is unrelated to this deal, but I have ordered a BT SIM to go with my new phone that gives me 20GB for £15/month (£70 prepaid card and a JBL outdoor speaker gift) - also Quidco has tracked for £70 although I'm not sure that will actually pay!

Update: I didn't want to risk leaving it longer, so I called O2 customer service just now and cancelled my airtime. When doing so, make clear that you are within the 14 days cooling off period as I did not mention this and the guy was telling I would be billed for a month and a few days. We cleared that up pretty quickly, and apart from him insisting on trying to match my SIM deal with BT - which he couldn't, I have had my airtime cancelled with no charges. Job done!

Thanks for posting the deal BTW. It should be rated hotter. The only place you will get this phone for this price elsewhere is by getting a grey import - other than that it's about £800 - £900.

I reduced my cost even more by flogging my good condition S8 64GB to Music Magpie for £188 - this is with a 10% voucher easily googled for. If anyone is thinking of doing this, I can do a referral code thingy for extra money off plus I get some too!

Greatest phone to be made
Hi

Did anyone manage to successfully cancel the airtime plan and keep the phone, apologies if it's already been mentioned! I managed to get them to do a deal on the phone upfront but worried I won't be able to cancel the phone contract after.

Thanks
