New Skinny Latte version of Toshiba's 2107 55U763DB, this tv is half the depth of the older one and also has the new toshiba Wide Colour Gamut plus other updates.

Toshiba's 55U7763DB is a feature-packed smart TV with stunning 4K screen resolution. It combines the glorious realism of Ultra High Definition with Wide Colour Gamut technology and a wealth of online entertainment via the Toshiba Smart Portal. Freeview Play catch-up service means you won't miss your favourite shows, and it's simple to stream Youtube videos or even check Facebook on the big screen. Armed with front-firing speakers, it has sound quality to match the visuals too. Equipped with multiple ports for seamless connection with your other AV devices, Toshiba's TV is the versatile hub for the whole family's home entertainment, with hyper-detailed picture quality.

Dazzlingly Detailed 4K UHD
To respond to screens getting bigger, brands have packed their screens with more pixels. This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Wide Colour Gamut
Bringing your content to stunningly vivid life is Toshiba's Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) technology. It expands the range of possible colours beyond the standard grade so blues are richer, reds more striking and greens much lusher. The result is a beautifully vibrant picture that does accurate justice to real-world colours, and every shade in between.

Freeview HD & Freeview Play
Enjoy better picture quality when watching live TV thanks to integrated Freeview HD, all without a subscription. Freeview Play adds connected services to the Freeview offering. You’ll be able to scroll backwards through the last seven days of programming and select shows to stream over the internet that you might have missed.

Toshiba Smart Portal
With built-in Wi-Fi, a whole extra dimension of entertainment is opened up with Toshiba's Smart Portal. This user-friendly platform gets you online in an instant with a wide variety of apps to choose from. Stream content from Netflix* and Youtube, catch-up with BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD, or keep up-to-date with your social media accounts, all via your TV remote. And with Screen Share technology it's simple to wirelessly display photos from your smart device on the TV screen so the whole family can enjoy them.

Pause & Playback Live TV To USB
Never miss your favourite shows again by recording it onto a USB. You can pause live TV and playback your recordings, all you do is plug your USB into one of the slots.

Well Connected
4 HDMI slots, 3 USB ports and a SCART socket mean this Toshiba TV offers you the complete media centre. So you can spend less time changing cables and more time enjoying anything you connect, be it a satellite receiver, games console or media player. And with compact design, it fits handsomely into the home, wherever you choose to site it.

This has edge lit led, the previous model had direct lit led

Can any of you guys that know about TVs tell me if this one is any good? …Can any of you guys that know about TVs tell me if this one is any good? I’m looking a decent tv to watch the footie via sky q and movies via Netflix. And it needs to hang well on the wall. Thanks

I'd say "good" might be pushing it, but it'll be serviceable. The area where these low end TVs struggle a lot though is motion handling, so you might find that football isn't going to be its strong point. Personally, I think you'd be better off paying the extra £120 for something like the UE55MU6400.

Alternatively, there's the Hisense H55N5700 for the same price as this Toshiba if you can't stretch any further, and I'd take that over a Vestel rebadge any day.

Yes, its one of 4 new Toshiba ones in a range called XUHD, marketing fluff for cheaper than most 55" UHD sets, but with wide colour gamut, faster PQI, other stuff and half the depth!

Yes, the panel is one of the Q4 on newer ones that will be in a lot more 55" re brand sets, that I was yapping on about, in other UHD tv threads.

For the price of a 55" 4K TV and with 5 year warranty for peace of mind, i don't see a reason to not buy it. Of course you can get better TVs for £300 more but then at this price, this is an excellent buy.
Wide Colour Gamut is a good feature to have with 4K but it normally comes with TVs that have HDR as well to give the extended range of colours a stronger intensity. Then again HDR isn't all it is cracked up to be on a lot of budget TVs anyway as many of them don't have the electronic circuitry to make the most of HDR even when they are HDR-capable. Still better to have HDR rather than not though.

So according to the above review, its fine except for when you want to watch any TV on it!!

Most of us are too young to remember
Finlux years ago was also a quality brand
cheaper at costco if u are a member use code SAVE15
Bought this 55inch for £399 from richer sounds after Black Friday. Horrible picture quality so I sent it back for a full refund. Don’t waste your money or time. wait for a Sony or Panasonic deal to come up for around £100 more.

Not really both were great unlike this tv.
Does this have an external power supply? This matters if you plan to wall hang and see as few cables as possible

That was the old panel 6763* from £479, to £429 and then price matched to Costco to £399 for the black friday / cyber monday sales, this is the WCG xuhd 7763 panel. I saw one yesterday in the real world, messed about with it, chucked some 4K usb & 4K blu-ray tests through it and it makes all the other brands using the 2017 55" OEM / vestel panel look awful

* I think

No, it is just a normal mains power cable lead to it
I wonder if there will be smaller sizes in the new skinny series, I’m after a 43

The Tosh I had was a WLT68 and it was considered nearly top of the line when it was released - though that was a good 10 years ago.

Is this newie one of the Hisense models?
