Hi there,

just been on phone with Sky and been offered the following for £55 per month and an initial £15 set up fee (includes all equipment too).

Sky Fibre Max
Box Sets Bundle
Pay as You Talk
Sky Q 2TB 4K box + 1 mini box.

Safe to say this is a cracking offer.

Was offered this over the phone at 8:55AM.

Hope this helps someone joining or negotiating.

*update* this is no sky sports or movies just the box sets bundle and i am a new customer moving from Virgin.

Not sure why its getting downvoted its a crazy deal as putting this together online would cost £73 per month with one off cost of £124.95. Each to their own i guess, im taking the deal as its better than what im being offered from Virgin and BT.

Apologies if ive clearly narked people.

Are you an existing customer?

Think in of leaving BT, could be usefully.

I was offered this exact package right before I left for virgin and the best they could do was £82

I'd jump at that!

Is this with sports and movies ?

I don't think that's the best new customer offer out there. I only pay £3.20 more for the same package as an existing customer after negotiating for a second year. Last year was £33 for the same package but call anytime included and no set up fees.

No, its just the box sets bundle package you can see what that includes on the sky web page.

I was with virgin for years. They don't seem to compete with sky on price at all. Rejoining virgin as a new customer was more expensive than what sky offered as existing customers. Virgin seem to rely on their superfast bb pushing sales for them, which is fine if you enjoy resetting hubs everyday.

I would still contact them again and say you changed your mind and see if they can do better I don't think they're giving you the best price yet.

I think the reason it is being voted cold is because you’re paying £55 a month for average internet and glorified freeview. Just from where I’m sitting anyway. Not voted either way but Sky and Virgin have been ripping people off for sub-par service for years

Had one blip with my broadband in 10 months with Virgin and that was in the whole area. Nothing wrong with their wi-fi, area dependent of course. I took the 50mb package and I get 55/60 download speeds.

It's far from glorified freeview 350 box sets for one and all the channels like sky Atlantic etc in HD. This is the 2tb box and a box in a second room as well.

Out of those box sets how many are you going to realistically watch? Sky Atlantic is the only channel you’re really getting thats not freesat.

Paying £55 a month to watch Mad Men and Game of Thrones doesn’t sound like good value to me. That’s what they live off.

HD should be the norm, it’s technology that’s been around for years. On Netflix and Amazon Prime you are getting 4k content, Netflix especially is brilliant for box sets/series and you’re paying a fraction of the cost.

Just opinions, which is what it is all about. All I would say is you could pick up the select box sets you like on dvd/blu Ray and watch them anyway, without the need for £55 a month package and then get yourself a decent stand alone internet package.

As I say I didn’t vote cold because I think all the Sky/Virgin deals are basically down to personal perceptions

Reasonable deal.

I thought so too. Clearly the masses want something for nothing.

I don't agree. The masses want a good deal. This isn't a particularly good deal, as far as Sky deals go.

You often see a deal inclusive of sports and movies, in HD (and UHD where appropraite) - for a much more reasonable price.

If you're really keen to switch to Sky today then why not, but it's probably worth waiting for better (you often see really good deals at this time of the month).

Also worth mentioning that there is little point in getting the fancy Sky Q box if you aren't getting any 4k content to watch on it (e.g. the movies and sport)

Virgin is fine if you're not uploading much. You need their 300mbps package to match the upload speeds on offer from Sky/BT/Plusnet etc though. For me that's why I won't switch to virgin. I upload ~250gb per month over my network.

The same package i was paying £39 per month ; however upon renewal it went back to 65 so left .
when I asked the reason why it is almost double now , the explanation was we gave you a maximum discount as a new Customer .. In my understanding I was never with sky, and they wanted me as a Customer and then give normal deal as a normal Customer .

basically take or leave that’s theattitude of sky.

I Got Sky Fibre Max, Sky talk unlimted, Sky Q 2tb + Additional Q Box with complete package in HD and 4K content at £62 a month.

I would have thought this clearly explains why it's being voted cold!

sorry i just dont see this as a good deal, if movies or sport was included,it would have made it a more attractive proposition.so all you have is boxsets that you can watch with multiroom.whats the point of you getting a 4k box,are all the boxsets streamed in 4k?even if they were, still no value in it to me,when you have the likes of amazon uk and netflixs that are a helluva lot cheaper.sorry i just dont see the value in this deal, voting cold.

I felt it was great value wgen online it came to £73 per month and then £124.95 Installation. Each to their own. It's cheaper than the others are offering so yano.

As Sky seem to charge people differently for the same package, think there should be a thread for people to fill in with what they get and for how much. Me first.

Can I ask how you got that and was it predicated on you taking the broadband/phone? Also do you know how much more Sky sports would have been? Hoping £12 as per the previous poster

I rang them up a few times and went through all the options - each time was a different price, so it does really depend on who you get, and it always worked out cheaper with multi-room (which also meant I got upgraded to the 2tb Sky Q box)

*with Sports was £85, but I despise all the incredibly biased goon and scouse pundits that predicate Sky Sports.

Thanks for the quick response. Will give them a try. Unfortunately do want the sports. Presume you were coming in as a new customer?

Yes, I managed to wangle my way out of a BT contract when they upped their prices. I tend to go between the two every year or so to get the deals.
