Bought many of these, only genuine sky ones work well?

Absolute bargain! Kids have just broken ours!! GOOD FIND!

Worth a punt for a few £, mines on its way out. Cleaned the botton contacts once which brought it back to life but think I should try a new one.

can't fault it for a couple of quid. ordered. ta OP

Can't you just phone SKY and get a free replacement? That's what we did......

I'm sorry, but these are awful. Very irritating to use.

When mine stopped working I rang Sky and they said I had to buy a new one

Sounds about right for SKY.......

My old box stopped working so I phoned and asked for a replacement seeing as I had been their customer for about 20 years. They said they no longer supplied them and I would have to pay £200 for a HD box.

I went on ebay and bought one for £20

Blimey.....looks like we were lucky then. Mind you, our box isn't HD - maybe that's why?

Or go to customer retentions and say your leaving bet they would cough up then.

I already have a working rev9f. Is there any value in 'upgrading' to a rev10?

If it "stops working" within the first year of your contract they will replace it.

You should have just said "well in that case I'd like to cease all my services with Sky" at which point you'd get through to a team who would gladly offer you one for free. Still not worth it as you pass up on the best deals by doing that.

Heat added, needed one of these since my Blaupunkt telly uses a weird arbitrary remote code - honestly why didn't they just copy another manufacturer?!

Worth a go for the money. My volume button only works when it feels like it. Thanks

Got a couple never worked like original I will try sky again

We had one like that. Dodgy volume control. Was a real bargain though so just couldn't turn it down...

I thought rev9 was the latest?

decisions decisions decisions

my mum needs one...... what shall I do as all of you have confused my

I have had 1 in past think it's was rev9 was like identical to the sky original

I bought two of these from an eBay seller who said they were 'genuine sky' products.

They were absolutely useless. Not to say these will be of course as they're from a different seller.

I had to cough up for the genuine ones in the end.

don't bother these are most likely fake, I've had a couple, they are horrible to use, only upgrade if your TV is not supported by the one you have.

Just buy a Harmony and never worry about any remote again...ever.

They are awful. The Sky logo won't be on it when u receive it.

Trust me. Buy an original if Sky won't send you a replacement.

There is a reason why its so cheap

Family Bargains (99p stores big brother) had these for about £3

bought one of these when ours packed up as they were so cheap. They do look genuine only physical difference I could tell was the absence of the Universal Electronics logo embossed on the infra red window. But that's where the similarities ended. The remote itself was horrendous to use buttons taking multiple presses to even register. since reverted to my REV8 original shaped SKY+ remote. looks ugly but does the job ;-)

These are useless, wouldn't accept any new tv codes. Its loaded with Rev 8 software at most. Its sticker on the back has Rev 9F (not sure where the Rev 10 comes from)

There even had the sky branding, but the instructions were a bad photocopy of dodgy English, and the pictures on the instructions are a remote with no SKY branding on it.

would be OK as a spare but that's about it

don't waste money I got some of these in the cupboard gathering dust, buy genuine sky ones only

They used to advertise them as genuine replacements but they are not genuine. These are cheap chinese imitations which will most likely work with the sky box but will not work with the TV. I complained and got my money back from ebay.

If it doesn't work with your TV then it is not a replacement. The seller needs to specify this in the description so you will be entitled to open a case with ebay to get your money back if it does not work exactly the same as a genuine sky remote.

These are pretty crap, I ended up ripping it apart and using the buttons & casing with the PCB from my genuine remote, so wasn't a total loss. The one I had was practically unusable as everytime you press a button it was as if I was pressing it rapidly, so it tended to skip over the menus too fast. Worth it for replacement parts but otherwise put the money towards a real one.

Download the Sky+ app and you will not have to buy another Sky remote ever again!

I bought two to replace our old ones with all the numbers missing But they were so horrible to use I ended up binning them. It used to drive me mental trying to get through the menus. Press once and scrolled 4. Pot luck and patience to get to what I wanted. Cheap...but awful.

I find it hilarious when people complain about Sky not replacing equipment free of charge when its out of warranty.

Just because you've had a washing machine for 5 years that your spend £30 on washing products to use it doesn't mean the maker or the washing product company will replace or fix the equipment when its out of warranty.

Just pay the prices like most of us do or cancel it.

Despite all the warnings its upto 440 degrees oO

Unbelievably hot seeing that genuine remotes never sell that cheaply. So many snide ones on ebay, you get what you pay for.

You don't pay an expensive subscription to continue to use your washing machine, you do with Sky. A more relevant analogy would be broadband, here most providers will provide a free router and replace it for you if it goes wrong.

I have to agree they are cheap crap, don't bother.
I agree mr bishnakov, people just expect stuff for free, paying a subscription is for the content/services is just for that, it does not entitle you to free replacement parts.

Thats a fair point, but I reckon people have to take responsibility, I take good care of my equipment and I have it insured if anything goes wrong.

My mate threatened to cancel because SKY wouldn't send out a replacement box as his dog had chewed a cable and short-circuited the box. Pretty unreasonable tbh.
