Seems to be a few deals for the Xperia, but this seems to be the best to date for the Z3 compact
with additional discount for new Very customers

Poss Quidco/Topcashback for a further disc.

What?

Alright deal. I think for the price people would be better off with a nexus 5 though

I've had one of these for about 6 months, initially missed the full hd of prev phones but the battery life of this is astounding and it does everything it needs to very well indeed. Don't miss hd any more, 80%+ battery at end day more than makes up for it.

$269 sounds way better than £299

Why, is it the same size screen and does the battery on the nexus last days and days, has it got a 20.7mp camera, is it waterproof, does it have sd card slot.

Apart from screen size everything about this phone is better than a Nexus 5.

This is sort of the regular best price for this handset. It's been this price a few times and might go up a tenner or so and then come back to this price again at other places where you don't need to use a voucher.

The screen size is great

I had this phone for only a week and the screen started to go crazy as if it was making contact by itself, took some amazing underwater shots but looks like the IP rating is not what the marketing states. Sent it back for repair and be warned no tethering on 3 !

Weird mine on 3 has tethering on hotspot, I used it to work from home all last week as a wifi hotspot.

A tip if you are going under water follow the following first....

youtube.com/wat…Ibg

Open your dialler and dial *#*#Service#*#* this will take you to the service menu.

Go to service tests and scroll down until you reach PRESSURE SENSOR.

Open it and lie your phone flat.

Making sure all your ports are closed, press the screen firmly (not enough to break it, that would be stupid) you should see the pressure reading jump by 10 points or so and will then return to previous reading (this is normal)

Then try the test with only the slightest gap in a port seal, the reading won't budge more than 1 point.

With ports closed and a reading jump of around 10 points, the handset is waterproof.

I had a nexus 5 and sold it to get the LG G2 which I found to be a better phone all round, I sold that for one of these and its the best phone I have had so far, battery life is a dream.

BTW anyone with problems on battery first open sim flat and reset via yellow button, this just resets hardware setting not the phone software etc, cures most battery problems, otherwise run the battery totally flat by streaming radio via tunein radio or something then charge fully. it cured my problem after update to lollipop.....

Isn't the waterproof feature not only for prevention of accidental dropping and weather issues. Wouldn't buy it to take pictures under water! I'm sure I read before that it's a matter of seconds and metres that it's guaranteed to survive in water for, not a days scuba diving! More for dropping it down the loo or tweeting in the rain.

I've got a Nexus 5 right now and I find it a little awkward to use due to my alarmingly small hands. It's a great phone but I've been keeping an eye on the Z3 Compact for a while. I've had look at it in a shop and the smaller size makes it more comfortable and natural to hold, for me, anyway.

The plan is to pick one up at the end of the year assuming it hasn't been replaced by a Z4 Compact -- hopefully the price will have got even lower by then. This is a good price for it right now, though; I think it's been almost as cheap on Amazon a couple of times, but not quite this low.

It is IP68 rated so protected from long term immersion up to a specified preasure, in this case 30 mins at 1.5 meters.

Had one of these for a while now (With the £239 offer from O2) and its by far the best phone I have had owned. Usually after a few months of owning a phone I have a list of things I want for my next phone but ATM I can't think of anything.

Buy this now! You won't regret it.

Had one of these for a few months. Battery life is excellent but phone is too small for me personally

Excellent phone. Heat!

not really. Only thing better on the nexus 5 would be the screen.

Even the screen quality isn't noticeable in general use. I have had a nexus 5 and also now the z3 compact, and honestly there is little difference to the naked eye. All this 1080/720/hidef etc etc screen on phones nowadays has more of a hit on battery life than what the user actually sees. I'm more than happy with the 720p screen on the z3c, and see little to no difference to the nexus 1080p screen.
Anyone thinking of buying this phone will not regret it. I have owned many, and this blows most out of the water.

Great phone but cold simply because it's Very (Littlewoods)

At £269 it works out over 24months to £11.20 p.m.

Throw my name on the list of very chuffed owners. Owned many 'smartphones' the past 10 years, this is one of the best of all. Take note if you are considering rivals.

This or galaxy alpha?

You've been lucky. I damaged mine taking it in sea and reading forums so has many others. I was lucky I dried it over 2 week period but there is still some damage to the screen and I now can't use in ear speaker so I need to answer call on speaker phone. Sony will not recognise water damage. Beware all thinking this is waterproof.

Hadmine 6 months and really pleased with it. First smart phone I've had that will last 2 days on one charge, and takes really good pictures in the water - the kids love taking it in the pool

what is wrong with Very?

I bought a z3 compact today from o2 after having a blackberry z10. do you wanna hear my grouches? how long have you got? I bought it as I wanted a small phone as in below 5" . all reviews talk about its lack of robustness . my z10 fell on the ground many times unscathed. I'm in the process of buying a case ,screen protector and insurance !!!!

bought one from o2 today. I moved from a blackberry z10. I'm full of complaints how long you got? the internet is full of reviews about its lack of robustness. I bought it as I want a small phone with good battery but I'm in the process of buying a screen protector and a case and insurance. it's glass back is very slippery etc etc etc

I've got this as a work phone and the battery life is astounding, especially if you put it into stamina mode. I held back a while on the Lollipop upgrade because of complaints on the official forum. I waited for the second 5.X update before taking the plunge and it's been fine for me. The cover for the USB port is a major faff for normal charging, but you can get magnetic chargers for it. I got a nice 5 quid Terrapin case for it - essential because of the glass back.

I think this is the best sub-5" phone on the market at the moment - if you need a bigger phone, there's always its "full size daddy" available i.e. the Z3.

Had this since March after getting it when O2 were selling them for £239. Battery life is great but the camera is very disappointing. Read that in auto mode it is not the best and to change settings in manual mode, but quality is still not great. Looking at a Galaxy S6 as I really wanted a great camera on my phone and this isn't anywhere approaching that.

Been very happy with mine. Battery life is days for me as a light user.
Managed to smash the glass on the back of it though the other week (own fault left it in my pocket when working under the car and think I sat on a stone) - very easy to replace though, but have lost the waterproof ability sadly.
Get yourself a magnetic charger would be my recommendation if buying, the cover is a pain in the rear to keep removing.
Also the noise cancelling headphones are pretty decent too that work with this phone, can pick them up on eBay for not a lot.

Nope, their own advert shows underwater and I took mine on holiday and used it to get some fantastic underwater video of our little in diving into the pool.... got some pretty shocked looks when I went underwater with it but it did great....still working fine!

Doesn't it specifically say not to use it in salt water though???

Really? I find mine gives really impressive pictures, the clarity and colour reproduction is excellent but yes, on auto, you only get 8mp, you HAVE to use manual to access the full 20mp. I use my DSLR for "proper" pictures, this is just for day to day mementos etc.... I generally use it as a phone (shock horror!!!)
