you can get pods in Lidel and Aldi that are compatible with these machines that are much cheaper than the official ones and are just as nice. I've got one of these and its great

Bellarom Pods in Lidl are only £1.59 for 18 and taste great !
Good deal! And cheers for the advice on the Aldi pods people!
great !
great spot and thanks for the aldi tip all
Great find, thank you OP!
How often do the filters need changing?
Can u just get hot water from this? Say if i want a cup of tea? Just saves having a kettle
Don't want to sound blunt but what is the difference between this and the kettle stuff?

Not a filter machine. Uses "coffee pods" and has a holder for either 1 (cup) or 2 (mug or 2xcups) of them - eg as suggested above @ £1.59 at Lidl for 18 x (small) cup size, or upto 9 x Mugs full. All single use and then into compost bin. Tesco Extra's stock a range of them as do many others. Personally never noticed in Aldi but will look now.

I'd think NOT as it's a pressurised design and expects "a pod holder" + pod in the system.

Suggest checking out the Senseo website for more on the concept/designs. It's a variant on the theme of various other 'pod/capsule' systems

Got 3 of the Senseo machines in use in our circle - great value and very convenient. Filter machines consigned to history ever since. Keep a watch on Amazon as their Senseo machines can be down at this price from time to time - got one a few weeks ago as a Xmas present

SO wha type of coffe does this make exactly?
Does anyone know if this machine is like the Tassimo which does different types of hot chocolate?
This seems a very good price but was looking at the Tassimo
Any info would be much appreciated

No totally different, senseo ones are like teabags, dolce gusto are like plastic pods
Do you get any free pods in the box?

Will these Lidl pods work with the original machine as well (or just the new version machine)?

i had one of the original machines ages ago and only ever bought Lidl pods for it
My main problem with this was that it was never hot enough for me. I have a Tassimo now which is great - but a lot more expensive to use! (I like my drinks scalding hot)
You can buy refillable pods for this too

I like my drinks really hot too, put me of knowing it does not get scalding hot?

Also do you have to keep cleaning this everytime you use it once? as doubt ill use it everyday
Nice one thanx!!!
they really don't spit out piping hot coffee these, that's one of the problems i had with it too (that, and the coffee wasn't the nicest)
but they are very convenient if you're a bit lazy / pushed for time in the mornings
and the coffee's fine if you usually drink instant too btw
yes, do these do lidle do hot choc pods too and would machine take these ? reserved anyway, thankyou !
From what I recall you don't have to clean it every time (except take the pod out and give the pod holder a quick rinse under the tap) but after every few goes it did recomend a system clean. That for me was too much cz I'm really lazy
I always microwave some milk in the cup for 30 seconds while the Senseo is heating the water and then let it dispense the coffee. Plenty hot enough then.
If you are finding the coffee too cold when youve put the milk in use coffee mate instead. Also if you use mugs as I guess most do dont be fooled into buying the mug version of the pods you just use the ordinary ones and use the 2 cup option for yr mug which is the button on the right.

They do hot choc and tea pods on amazon and you can also get a reusable pod in order to use yr own filter coffee. Hth.
Oh and the beakers with the screw on lids in Wilkinsons hold a packet nice and airtight :-)
Had one of these for years and it's great. As suggested above use the 2 cup option and if you have a very large mug top up with single size and power off when correct level reached.

That's what I do too. I also have a thing called a Duck for it so I can use filter coffee with it.
What is the crema like? There's a guy that's usually on these threads advising everyone to go for a cheap Argos coffee machine that apparently can't be beaten by anything under £200. I think that's selling for the same price as this. Anyone know which is actually better, results wise? Do lattes produced by this machine taste the same and have the same texture as Costa / Starbucks-style coffee shop lattes?

That's Dooper and I took their advice and WASTED over £200 finding a decent ESE pod that worked with it, they all tasted crap...

Dooper also has this twisted idea that the pod is the only cost and never factors in the cost of milk which is probably more expensive than the coffee....

Don't take doopers advice, they're WRONG the machine is crap and the coffee is even worse
had one of these a while ago and it was just a step above filter with it being conveniently faster. It did have the occasional problem of **** hot coffee out of the seal rather than out of the nozzle like it should and this was one of the reasons behind dumping it. I then purchased a Tassimo but this has become way too expensive to warrant me patronising the closed ecosystem of its pods any more. It was OK but the choice is way too limited and the pods, were always expensive but are now just a **** take.

I just recently bought a Delonghi Icona from Comet for £79 (£90 off) and it produces coffee that is just in a different league.

The senseo 'pod' is a round teabag type thing, so you can indeed get hot water (or even pop a tea bag in the pod slot) however it does froth things up a little which is a bit odd for tea!

good deal, but £99 was a clear overprice anyway, never seen a Senseo over £60 before as I can recall?
