Just checking my wishlist as usual this morning and looks like Argos dropped it a smidge more so Amazon has price matched them. Was £21.99 previously.

What different in New Super Luigi U vs New Super Mario Bros U
neoseeker.com/new…er/

The following comes from a Polygon interview with Takashi Tezuka.

- all 82 courses remodeled
- made shorter but more difficult
- team wanted to do something different and change what people think of DLC

"Most people think of downloadable content as just an add-on to a game — in Japanese you say 'add-on content', but New Super Luigi U is such a large-scale thing — it's like a completely different game. It was our idea to change what DLC is."

That is the enjoyment. Upping the difficulty is what some of use platform heads crave.

Upping the difficulty is something that should be an OPTION in the game. Not require a near full-price expansion pack.

I haven't got the game yet myself but as far as I am aware, 100 second timer for the levels, Luigi being a higher jumper and a bit skiddier and a small child/beginner player friendly character in the form of nabbit. It's more speed run platforming with a higher difficulity than the original which for me sounds great. I'll be terrible at it mind but thats half the fun for me

Looking at your previous comment you don't know what this is do you?

It is a whole separate game that has different control mechanics, ie the main crux of a platformer, that compared to normal Mario U is a lot more challenging.

This is NOT Mario U reskinned.

I know exactly what it is as I owned it. This IS Mario U reskinned.

Changing things like the arc of the main characters jump, the friction with the surface, and the time limit on levels are what programmers call variables.

Meaning if a team has programmed the entire game already and wants to change these values they can do it in a matter of seconds by altering some numbers.

It is of my opinion that I am entitled to, that this is not worthy of being a stand alone game. Honestly, some people complain that remastered games are not worth full price releases but a lot more effort goes into upscaling old games into HD than what Nintendo did here.

again we are talking about changing a few variables to put stuff in slightly different places. That does not make the levels new.

should be a choice normal timer or 100 second timer, either that or remove the 99 second alarm sound,it sets my nerves off every level of luigi u so i'm just on edge all the time.

in my opinion 100 seconds just means you have to replay levels over and over to find everything, which is a cop out.not harder just more taxing.

The levels have been changed to match the pacing/reduced time limit. Also if you want to edit maps by changing variables - honestly good luck to you; that'd be a massive pain in the ass. (you'd use a map editor....)

Purchased - thanks for posting! I'll never get time to play - damn you HUKD!

its more than a few variables, take level one,in smbu you walk along a path at the start,in slu it's just colums of rocks that move up down left right, basically it's an entirely different level.and it goes on

still stressful though.

Is this better than the mario one? If you could only get one is the mario one better?

100 seconds per level sounds like too short levels to me.

My point at the end of it all is not that Luigi U is not worth playing, but that I think Nintendo are being greedy by releasing it as a full price game. I am a nintendo fan, I have a wii u and really like it, so I am not just jumping on the bash nintendo bandwagon. I think this should have been a bit of paid for dlc on top of super mario bros u.

At the end of the day it is a fact that it would have taken a drastically reduced (by nearly 100%) amount of time/resources to make luigi U after you've already made mario u.

This game sounds like a dlc and should be priced around £5 on top of the mario game

This game is DLC, they released it on disc so that gamers could play it without NSMBU if they wanted. Its also not a full priced game, its less than half the usual price of £40+. Basically its DLC you can play without the base game bit like GTA 4 episodes which got a stand alone release.

Who pays £40 for a game. A full priced game is £20-25.

At £19 this is a full priced game

I am afraid you might be mixing up standard new release PC game prices with those of consoles. Even the old Ps2 version of Monster Hunter can still sell for similar price to what it was new second hand these days.

First party or popular games will retain a high price of £40 for a long time. In the case of this particular game the base game (NSMBU) has a standard price of £35-£40. This game (as DLC) is less than half the price on Eshop and nearly half the price at retail.

Many new games are also at over £45+, you can always wait for the price to drop but it can be months or year before it happens, now that the new generation has started game prices will rocket back to previous levels and will stay there for quite some time before dropping down again near the end of the generation.

Personally I hated this game. 99 seconds for every level. Anyone who has all the coins in this game needs a medal.

Pikmin 3 £20
Wonderfull 101 £22
Mario 3d £30
Lego undercover £25
Zelda WW £25

Rayman Legends £13
Injustice £8
Splinter Cell £10
Batman £10
Assassins Creed £10

All Wii U brand new.

£19 for a DLC is a rip off

You do realise most of those are near launch titles, one was completely abandoned by the dev, one bombed badly on all systems and the others are flash sale deals yes? Only seen 3D World at 30 once (Though if you've seen again please say!), Lego City was a one off from Tesco that has been humming round 40 before and after with Shopto out of stock since their £30. Wonderful 101 has sold very badly so if it helps their sales it will be fanastic as they more than deserve it.

Want a launch that has held a high price? Assassin's Creed 3 Join or Die. If you want new have to go 30 quid or more less you get a lucky snipe like I did But clearly you have made your mind up on the situation so I'll leave it there.

Price depreciates over time on all products pretty much, the RRP is the only thing you use to decide whether or not Nintendo intended this as a full price game, and the RRP of this is either 39.99 or 49.99 depending on which website I believe. Either way that's full price.

Anyone after Mario 3d on the wii u should check your local HMV. Kingston upon Thames had a pre-owned copy for £32.99. It had a yellow sticker on so ended up paying £16.49.

its £18 as DLC on eshop. was $30 retail in US. it started at £30 in UK. most core nintendo titles start higher than that (£35-40)

Basically yes but also not entirely. If you consider shortening the level drastically and putting a 100 second limit on each level different then yeah it's entirely different.

I was so excited about getting it but couldn't play the game beyond a few levels due to stupid 100 second time rule.

Im waiting for NSMB U to hit below £20 before I buy it. Would pay £5-10 for this Luigi game.

I own all the other Wii U games and am only missing NSMB U. Even preordered Donkey Kong for £27

Well they include first party titles which apparently dont go too far below £40 according to some. Secondly my list probably includes alk the games on the Wii U worth owning. There are no other games especially multiplatform ones which can be bought on the ps3/360 for around £5 and are superior.

Constantine

No.

that is so helpful "no" many many thanks for your input !!!!!! (_;)

If anyone is interested in the Mario version it is available on amazon market place for £25 for a like new copy.

Too expensive for me.

thanks for posting, just bought it, Luigi is cool. it should be 'Year Of Luigi' every year.

This was originally released as DLC before a disc-option was made available. So yes, it was a bit of paid for DLC (£17.99) on top of New Super Mario Bros U. It is not actually released as a full-price game. This is a limited-release disc option for those that didn't want to purchase New Super Mario Bros U in order to play this game.

And this "limited release disc option" is what this deal is for. And that has an RRP of 39.99 or 49.99. Which in my eyes is what constitutes the going rate for a full price game.

This deal is not for a wii U e-shop download. If it was then I would never have mentioned anything because I started commenting here in response to a question about whether or not this is a different game to mario bros U.

Actually, the game launched with a RRP of £29.99.
