Direct flights are normally in the region of £420pp on a good day. So this works out at £86per night for the room, which is dirt cheap for a Manhatton Hotel!

Cheaper hotels are available for 4 nights nights...but I think its worth the extra £10 per person for Manhatton

Puts all travelzoo deals to shame and just embarrasses Virgins

London Heathrow to either JFK or Newark!

If your wanting to go to New York try and do a deal like this as its depressing how expensively bad hotels are in New York at particular times of the year if u buy a chea flight upfront, and make sure hotel taxes are included as many websites don't mention u have to pay on checkout

Does anyone know the price of the taxi from JFK to Manhatton?

$40 I believe. It's a fixed standard fare from JFK to Manhattan for all Yellow Cabs.

$45+tolls or $7.50 for quick train + $2.50 for subway (source)

I Paid $50 in 2004, may have gone up a bit i would have thought... great post though. Consider Philladelphia instead as hotels much cheaper and you can visit new york on the train in 1 hour

Damn living in Glasgow. I'm looking to go in January for my big four oh but by the time you add in costs of flights from Glas-Lon it gets ridiculous!

Good prices. Just gotta work on the hubby

We got the Airporter bus when we were there last year which might be a good option depending on where you're staying. Its $16 from JFK.

Good deal!

BA, which should be renamed as Heathrow Airways, is not much use for most people in the UK.

A good link to know, cheers madcal87

Tried loads of dates, all coming back £750-850.

Non deal if you ask me.

Just been having a play with dates on the site and am sorely tempted by a five night stay in budapest at 5* hotel for £344 each. Wow.

lol went 5 years back paid £24 single out and £40 a night for a 4* (went on a train trip) but flights home were only £40 ish) so £688 seems particularly epxensive..

Booked a trip to NY last month through BA. £600 including flights and 4 nights at the Intecontinental Barclay. Absolute bargain of a deal.

I just used an airport bus. Cost me around $30 for both ways.

If you're thinking about the train, then it really is quite simple.
I've been New York 3 times, once to/from Newark in a cab with 2 other people to Madison Sq area which was simple and fairly inexpensive.
The last 2 times, I've flown to/from to JFK, once staying in Brooklyn Heights (worth considering as an area to stay as it's nice and a very easy commute onto the island) and the other on the upper West Side.

On the last time, I got the train across to Jamaica then the Air Train down to the airport.
Very easy, inexpensive. If it's just yourself and you don't mind lugging a case on and off the train/subway, then it's worth considering, but probably not if you're not one for city metro travel and/or you have kids with you.

The Super Bowl (American Football) is being held in NY at the end of Jan (2nd Feb but the whole week leading up is manic) so avoid those dates unless you are going for the game as prices for hotels get very silly for this.

Going to New York on 14th nov got direct flights from Glasgow and staying in manhattan just off 5th avenue £604 each which I though was a good deal aswell for anybody wanting to go from Scotland flight times are amazing aswell fly out 14th 8.30am arrive 11am fly back 17th 22.30 and arrive back in Glasgow 10.20 flying into Newark does anyone know how easy it is to get to manhattan and cheapest way thanks

Whats the weather like in NY DURING FEB? am tempted to get my daugther out of school and go for 5 nights. The prices are quite good

We have stopped in the Manhattan at Times Square last time we went to NYC - it really is in a perfect location. Good pub next door as well (Rosie O Grady's), and a good Irish bar the other side of 7th Avenue for breakfast.

If anyone is going for Superbowl weekend, may I recommend the Superbowl party at BB King Blues bar. We had a great time there a couple of years ago, game on cinema style screen, all you can eat buffet, and the great atmosphere, especially the Half Time show and the huge advertisments played out at each break in play.

This is last years (this years), so expect similar for 2014:-
