are these boxes fully loaded?
yes but they will no doubt come with 15.2 meaning the addons will be out of date. Strip it out, put 16.1 on and a decent build and you will be laughing. About £7/8 cheaper than Amazon.

Learn to do it yourself if you're going to freeload your media - at least then when it stops working you'll be able to sort it yourself!
How close to replacing Sky do these things get? I stream most of my sport online but it's a PITA to do it all the time for kids stuff etc.

Your better off with the M8S which has 2GB of RAM compared to the 1GB this has. It will impact on performance.
Dual band wireless is a plus though...

Don't need it preloaded. Go on the browser visit Tvaddons.ag and get Kodi which is preloaded with everything you'll use. Everything is just an apk file search Google, download and install nothing more

Additional £3 to avoid to all the negs associated with a direct far-east purchase replaced with all the negs of an ebay purchase sent from UK. "Fully loaded" item in your hands within few days ebay.co.uk/itm…895

Anyone looking for a good build i highly recommend Wookie Wizard wookiespmc.com/woo…rd/ I Added a new build to one of my boxes last night took about 20 mins and works great, worth doing what someone suggested above and learning to do it yourselves, builds often go out of date and knowing how to fix is a god send, the other build i suggest is the Pulse Build
What's the best app add ons on this ?
i would avoid fully loaded and get the knowledge to put the software and apps in yourself.

i recommend ares wizard to get a good build like Spintz TV that has all the add ons you need.

as if youre fully loaded box has an issue you will be clueless to put a new build on its simple to do.

I no longer have sky and use my box however for the sake of £30 buy one and see for yourself too complicated for kids to use on their own but anything on sky is on this box you just cant record or and HD streams depends on you internet strength

I'd advocate a phased approach to get the whole family used to watching shows in different formats and platforms. Most of the time new tech fails the family adoption process as it completely replaces the old system which "just worked" to be replaced by something no-one quite knows how to use and is flaky.

For your day to day, get a Freesat box with a HDD so you can pause live tv, schedule record etc. Now everyone can watch UK TV any time with no bother. Next, get a NowTV box if you have to have some Sky Channels and buy codes off ebay - most of the time you can get entertainment for circa £2 a month, with movies coming in slightly more expensive circa £4 - £6. Finally, add an android box to the mix to "widen your viewing experience" ;). As everyone gets used to the Android system, you can start to phase out the Now Tv box and just use the Freesat & Android.

I wouldn't rely on IPTV to replace normal broadcast Tv. It'll work perfectly when you watch something, then when the missus wants to watch 'Made In Chelsea' the stream will be interrupted or choppy and you'll be hiding in the shed for the rest of the night.

My last piece of advice - dont cheap out too much on the android box. It';s worth getting one that is well supported, has regular updates and has the grunt to play everything you throw at it. Go for one with an ethernet port and use it. WIFI isnt really up to the task for 1080p in a busy household.

ps: The now tv is a great fall back if the android box packs up and you need catch up / live or sky back again without the huge overheads

Which codes from ebay for the Now TV entertainment and movies, I cant seem to find what you mention? Thanks
replaced sky for me completely. invested in a decent box, use kodi and the other tv broadcasting apps that enable you to get Sly channels. Watch films when I want and watch every game on PLP in HD. It's a learning curve but in effect it saves £100-£120 per month

these will never replace sky, had my m8 for 2 years now and I still have sky, and before people jump in and say well you can get this and that addon on please dont. I shall start by saying these are a great companion to a basic sky package as the addons are hit and miss, they are better that netfix and prime. I you want to replace sky then look at the openbox v8s and free gifts classed as a warranty, far from me telling you what to buy but this is my advise for a replacement.....

openbox 35 quid
disguised warranty anything from £6 to £24

no it wont but why would you want to?
Are these capable of receiving iptv and can anyone recommend where to look for a stable subscription? Have an android box myself but all sources seem so unreliable/poor quality

I'm sure I saw a deal on here only the other day. I apologise as I think it was actually £8 something upfront but it worked out to about £2 per month.

zgemma box, external hard drive if you want to record/pause tv, years satellite card share about £20-30. £130-150 for first year inc box, HDD and all channels, second year onwards £20-30 a year. You won't get HD channels except BT sport and a couple of others, but a million times better than any android box.
I use Amazon tv box and sticks rather than an android box. (The Box is way faster than the stick) Get Amazon prime for £6 a month there's plenty to watch on there, plus you get free next day delivery with Amazon. Bung kodi onto it for the newer releases and use freesat/free view for live tv.
Sack sky off as its a rip off!
Nvidia Android TV comes with Kodi installed and has 4k output with hdmi 2.0. Also can be used to play games with Nvidia streaming service. Though it costs more, better picture quality than Amazon and the Chinese white boxes.

or get a stick/box and shove spmc (kodi) on it and not bother with the expensive prime tv? its like paying twice. Oh I know what you mean about prime deliveries but that does not come into play with the monthly version according to their info available.

Yes you could happily use it without prime and I did quite happily for a while but it's nice being able to just click and play without messing around with missing links etc.. I mainly use prime as its quick and easy for the kids. If your buying a lot from Amazon it pays for itself too. Also you get free music and there's a good app for your phone. (I've got iPhone so haven't put kodi on it)

You're prob better with a cline then. I pay 29.99 for 3 months. Not cheap but Rick solid reliability which is needed for the SO to use it.

My M8 android box has been gong strong for about 18 months now had a sumvision DVD player that didnt last too long so not bought the brand since

thanks DBO187 i have a sumvision media player over 6 yrs old and still works so i like the brand but on a budget at the moment

Openbox etc + "gift" is a poor cousin to the sky interface.... Recording is a coin flip, and only single channel on cheap boxes... But the biggest shock to the system is the loss of 99% of the hd channels, especially if you have a big tv.

If you're OK with Gearbest then they have another S905-based item with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, gigabit LAN, bluetooth, 4 x USB, HDMI + composite out @ £30 gearbest.com/tv-…tml but if you want a lesser box in favour of warranty, go for the Sumvision X4+ from a credible supplier.
