I have this cam, unless it’s been upgraded since I bought mine, it’s not the best. The touch screen is rubbish and the battery dies after a year or so, there are better dash cams around

Interesting. Previous searches on this one have been overall good. Is the battery changeable? I presume the battery is needed to prevent a dirty shut down? Hi

I'm after a dual channel 1440p or 4k dashcam, any decent alternatives to this?
I’ve got this camera and it’s great for the price imo. Video quality is crystal clear and you can download them to your phone through wi-fi. Downside is the videos have a huge logo across quarter of the screen, if you email their CS they will send you a firmware update that removes the logo. I’ve got it hard wired so no need to charge.

Best to just hard wire it in
Had mine about 18months no bother
From experience, nowadays if you are looking at getting a dash cam it needs to have a capacitor rather than a battery, unless you're not planning on keeping it for over 1 or 2 years. Like someone commented above, the battery dies quicker than our usual devices from constant charging and exposure to heat and cold from the weather and car.
I've had my dashcam for just under 3.5 years and I haven't had any problems with the battery, I just leave it plugged in to the 12v socket which becomes live when the ignition is on

I can only speak for my experience, the battery is shocking and it’s not a simple swap out process. The main gripe fir me is that it’s stopped recording a few times with no reason, and as I said, the touchscreen is poor, wouldn’t have another tbh

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to read about potential ‘issues’ especially if they sound like fairly common negative points. My impression is this is generally liked by owners from reading various thread on this here. But would like something trustworthy as it’s for my partner and they are not the sort to want to check if a gadget is in order or not. That may be a device twice the price, but I don’t know what the ‘good’ ones are yet
Thinking of upgrading this from my old 3 series. Would like the app for transferring as I’m sick of taking the SD card out. For £70 it’s not bad, have reserved one for collection.
i dont understand why the battery will die as the unit is powered when the ignition is on...
