The second digit of the model number is the series. So a 412 is a series one, a 522 is a series 2.

Absolute rubbish. Battery dies soon after a year. Needs replacing ehich costs around £30. I lost the footage to my accident due to this reason, even tjough it was plugged in, (Thats what nextbase told me) Get a kenwood instead. Far superior.
from what i have read, the series 1 are best avoided.

Dumb question (maybe) how do you define what series these are?

Fantastic thank you!
I'll be in the market for a front and rear cam, any suggestions? Want something to connect to my phone but don't need Alexa, so mid range I guess?
I currently have a blackvue and i am looking for a deal where halfords will fit a 522. Alexa aside the 522 gets good reviews and includes a polarised lense.
Go for viofo a 119 v3

If it was powered, the footage would of saved to the microsd card, losing power it would of saved up to that moment, get a kenwood

Any particular Kenwood model that you think is better than this? Thanks...

Don't understand what you mean... the cameras are always plugged in.

Plugged in and actually have power they are 2 different things
Is this much of a step up from a 312GW? And are the magnetic power docks (not sure what they're called) compatible between the models?

(I asked them)
You can use a 412GW in place of a 312GW, as they are the same series. You can't use a 322 or 422 in place of a 312 as the power/mounts are different

Is not the car but the way your camera is connected to your car

If power is cut suddenly to a device that's writing to flash memory then it'll likely corrupt the data, especially for video footage. Digital cameras don't work in the same way that analogue video records to a VHS tape.

Agree! But it can happen to any dash cam so is not fair to give bad comments just on this model
Well I can say next base camera is miles ahead in terms of footage quality, ease of use and mountability.

Just used footage after an accident for insurance purpose. Heat OP

Thats what you would have thought. However, when i noticed there was no footage, i contacted nextbase, who advised it had not saved due to a faulty battery, and simply offered to supply a new battery. It didnt make dense to me either,

Maybe Kenwood 830. They come with 3 year warrenty, can take two SD cards which have 4 times the capacity of nextbase, and better redolution. I got mine to replace the nextbase, from Halfords last year for around £80, (about £110 fitted).
happy with my 412 gw , hardwire it in though

Potentially Yes, but i think most people on here are writing about tbeir experience of this model. Petsonally believe the fault is with a poor design feature and poor quality parts.
