Nextbase 512GW Dash CamProviding unbeatable image quality, and a vast array of features The Nextbase 512GW Dash Cam is the ultimate Dash Cam experience. At its heart is a Sony Exmor R Sensor to provide decisive picture quality with vivid colours and amazing clarity. This is coupled with a recording resolution of 1440p Quad HD to provide high quality footage at all times. When driving at night and in low light conditions this model stands head and shoulders above the rest, this is achieved through the WDR and HDR working together to combine multiple versions of the same image and providing you with the best contrast. The fitted anti-glare polarising filter, reduces windscreen and sun glare so your footage is as clear as possible. It uses the highly acclaimed Click & Go Powered Magnetic GPS Mount which is the most easy to use mount of any dash cam. It uses magnets and powered touch points, allowing the dash cam to be installed easily and free from wires. Another fantastic feature is the intelligent parking mode which automatically records when a jolt is detected, protecting your car from bumps and knocks when parked up.

Wonder when Aldi copy this one?

Bought this one I'm impressed running it with the rear camera too
Do people leave these in their cars overnight? Just wondering if people nick these just like satnavs
You can get the matching rearview camera for half price though it looks like both/either are only available for click & collect

It is designed to stay in the car as it has intelligent parking which if your car gets hit it automatically records and doesn’t need to be hardwired into car either.

I used to and it was a big mistake. My car got broken into and all that was taken was the Nextbase 312 dash cam. The damage to the car was £300 excluding the camera price as the window mechanism got damaged. So in short, I would recommend not leaving it in the car especially the Nextbase / the expensive dash cams.
Is 30fps really enough for a dash cam?
Good deal!

I picked up the 312gw for £67 using the same code as I didn't need the high spec of the 512gw for my purposes. Not as high res, but still with most of the features:

It’s a no win situation, keep it in car and risk it getting stolen, take it out, your car gets hit, they drive off and u have no proof of what happened

I would think so, but if worried you can always set it to 1080p/60fps

Completely agree...just wish they could design the dash cam where the camera was small enough to be put behind the mirror and the cable then runs to the main unit which has a display screen, etc. which can be placed out of sight e.g stuck to visor. Surprised no manufacturer is thinking of making these smaller and discrete. They should be designed like dvr systems have 4 channels so more cameras can be attached.

I wonder why the car manufacturers themselves aren't adding them. The amount of electronics required is minimal and it could be potentially be added to the rear view mirror housing (I've one there for auto main beam on-off). I'd imagine they could be integrated into the touchscreen audio / nav system that most have these days to review/copy footage too.

How did you pull this off when the voucher explicitly states that it isn't to be combined with other offers?

When they put the reserved price of the DashCam into the till , ask them to add 10% off voucher.

As you have reserved online. They don't know, if you have already used voucher (till will only show the reserved price).

Yes mine sits just below rear-view mirror & its the same colour everyone has had to ask where it is they don't notice it until its pointed out. I've never had the problem of it getting stolen & had dash-cams for years and I live in a big bad city
See the post a few days earlier - I also didn't need all the bells so picked up the 412gw for around £65 from Halfords using all the discounts stacked plus Zeek!

What an amazing deal! Annoyingly the fitting had to be booked over the phone and my local Halfords only has 1 audio visual fitter who only has 1x 2 hour slot available to install front and back cameras per day and he only works 4 days a week so I can't have this in my car until 22nd September. I can't find a cheaper fitter though. £50 extra send cheap Vs anything else I've seen online or the dealerships. Anyone know of another solution? 2 hours seems ott but then I've never done this myself before.

All depends on the vehicle mine was done in 40 minutes ( and I suppose the experience of the fitter ) worth finding out if there is another Halfords reasonably close that can install earlier?? You could also say you may go buy from a competitor who can install earlier?

absolute joke. could maybe understand if it was being hardwired into the fuse box and weather (even that sounds a bit drawn out) but looking at the connections it's a 12v cigarette socket plug. so it takes them 2 hours to stick a suction cup on the window and plug it in the 12v output? wow.

I’m pretty sure when u pay for fitting, it’s hard wired to the fuse box is it not?? so no need for 12v socket even still thought it is pretty simple to do if u buy the fitting kit on eBay for £12 I think, great deal tho
Going to have a go at fitting it myself... Loads of YouTube videos available for help and looks reasonably straight forward
