Spotted this, whilst looking for a good price on a new dashcam - think this is the best out there, at the moment. Amazon currently £139.95 and most places £149.99.

Same seller also has refurbished units at £99.95 if you want to go that route....

After how long ?
I like the cam. But the app is really tricky to get working consistently. On iOS. Android may be different and it may just be me I appreciate.

We've got two Nextbase's, been working without issue for ages, the other one for a few years

Agreed, the app is crap, and I'm on Android

You had 1 faulty one out of how many millions are made? I've had 0 issues with mine which has been fitted for the best part of 2 years now.

The app on Android is just really slow. Also when you want to watch a video back it takes forever to load and you can't fast forward without it crashing. The camera itself is bob on though

I know how you must feel, I had a shoe once that wore out - shop that sold just weren't interested #shrug
The camera is great with the polarised filter it’s the charging cable that’s crap. It fails after a few months tho if you go on Twitter they will send you a replacement free of charge. Better to hardwire it in.

Had it over a year and no major issues. Good video quality.

Bought the hardwire kit & rear camera. Rear camera is 720p if front set to 1440p, or they can both be 1080p (my choice).

Alexa seems to only activate occasionally, which is a shame (Android phone).
Since it also has a battery can anyone please tell me is it working OK during hot days? Temperature on the windshield must be crszy high.

4 of my family have next base all working 100% after 3 years, next base are the best ones out there don't buy a cheap one, but I would buy the newer ones that have a 2nd camera for the back!

Android working perfect for me
I have this camera hard wired into my car. It is great but I don’t use the parking function as i prefer to remove the camera to stop it getting stolen. I found the magnetic mount was great but it is very strong and kept pulling the camera off the windscreen but i have found as time goes on it has become easier to remove which is great.

My Next Base is now 3+ years old, and in that time I have had to replace the endurance SD card but otherwise its running great.

Thank you
Had mine 4 years. No problems except app is rubbish. Would definitely buy another
Also had a faulty unit keeps resetting, scan their forums for numerous issues with their expensive kit.

I finally gave up when all recommendations from Nextbase failed and the cheap Chinese dash cam in another car worked perfectly throughout.
I’ve had this for a year and it is working ok. It was hard wired in by Halfords, front and back. Only issue I’ve had is that if you leave the parking function on it is obviously turning itself on and off a lot. The battery goes down. Then the parking function stops working because it has no battery. The recharge function doesn’t work effectively- i.e. the camera works fine when you are driving and it is powered. But driving is not enough to fully recharge the battery.

I thought this was a fault with the battery so I took it back to Halfords but they told me it’s only a trickle charger and the juice isn’t enough to fully recharge the unit. It needs to be taken out periodically and recharged at home.

This strikes me as rubbish - phones can be fully recharged in car so why not camera? But I haven’t taken it any further. Anyone else had similar? I drive about 200 miles a week on average so it’s not under use.

Apart from that, happy so far.
I have this dash cam and would rate it as a good investment as the picture quality is very good and it has never failed to turn itself on when I start the car.
Having had a 1080p £35 Chinese dashcam this is a good step up (but it would need to be) and the increased resolution significantly helps with numberplate identification (which was barely legible on my 1080p unit when I was ran off the road by a Courier driver).
The apps are terrible though as it has difficulty linking to android phone.
This is my first dash cam. I've been meaning to buy one for a while, but have just been putting it off. Are these difficult to hard wire? I have noticed the hard wire kits on Amazon - Would you go with the cheaper kit or the Nextbase Series 2 Hard wire kit for £10 more? What size SD card is everyone using and what type of SD do they actually take? Any recommendations?

Cheers

I have always had the camera professionally fitted, but that is mainly because I have no practical skill and I am sure that at least one piece of trim will break, squeak afterwards or not fit back in place!

As for SD card, recommend getting a 'endurance' card, as they are specifically designed for multiple write and rewrites......
