There are plenty of people who would rather avoid giving an infant a tablet. We already have a large population of people who live with a phone or tablet in front of their face every waking hour.

Before people ask this model NB7T-CAR has one dvd slot and is mirrored to both screens (player and monitor) If you want two independent monitors with their own slots then the model required is NB7D-CAR (2 players).

If you have small kids, these are in fact better and easier to operate. Also, 2 tablets cost more than this. If kids are old enough and can operate the tablets, yes, it is probably better, but for 2-3 years old this is ok. This has USB and SD slot, so still can load lots of cartoons.

I dont disagree with what you're saying. My 6 years old one has one too. My 3 year old managed to smash his. My 3 year old one also managed to erase movies. He has a different one now, more child friendly and it is incredibly slow. This one is an alternative and is better for us, it sits nicely on the head rest and kids can't mess with it. The reason we've got this was because when he was using his tablet, at every 5 minutes I had to turn to him, get the tablet, set back what he messed with and so on. Grandmother does not know how to operate it but she is comfortable with this type of device. For us is more convenient, we have tablets too, but we manage better with this when we travel. I completely agree a tablet can do more, but for watching cartoons we prefer this.
If I was to have 1 kid, I would had definetely gone for a tablet.

Probably better than having DVD players strapped onto their prams?

Who’s strapping a DVD player to a pram? There’d be an absence of power supply for the transmitting unit for a start.
Who is buying these in 2019? a couple of £30.00 7" Amazon fire tablets is much more versatile and better quality. We used to have them about 8 years ago but swapped over to tablets pretty quickly and they are a 1000% better. If you have toddlers using a headrest bracket prevents all the breakage issues.

I appreciate that it is horses for courses but I too cannot understand how people are still buying these. The explanations given above unfortunately do not make any sense to me at all. Every device can smash if treated poorly whether it is a tablet or a chunky DVD player, if you wish for the child not to erase any movies, then just lock whetever settings you like on your tablet or use apps that are child-proof and if you would like to avoid seeing a large population of people with tablets in front of their face then just go live in the jungle and take your favourite collection of DVDs with you!

There are lots of things you can do to prevent the tablets to smash, or to stop to erase movies. And yes, you can do more with a tablet. While I believe the tablet is better than Nextbase single device at £35, purely because you can get a tablet for £30, for me this is a better deal for the following reasons:

2 x tablets = £60 min, this is £50

This comes with head rest while for the tablet you will need to spend more to get a support.

From my own personal experience, when we travel, it takes time to sort out the tablets for each child.

Once you drive or you are front passenger, if movie ends, child drops the tablet, battery dies, all you'll hear in the car is screaming. You have to stop the car to sort out the issue.

I am not all school, my house if full of smart technology, I also pay for good brands and I keep up to date. I do not watch DVD or BR, I am streaming or download movies.
The only old tech we use is this and video baby monitor (Again, a cheap camera and a phone can replace these). We found both less hassle and fitting better when dealing with 2 kids. Now I do not know, if it was not to have tablets, maybe I would have preferred a tablet instead. But we have tablets and still find this better for when travelling. I'm referring strictly to this, not to the one with the single screen.
