Decent deal for the model but overpriced for the spec. As is the case with all nextbase products.

The newer nextbase models are getting a poor reputation for reliability and for not accepting other makes of memory cards.

For comparison the YI Smart Dash Cam was on offer for £31.20. I've had one for 3 years and not a single issue. It proved liability when my car was written off last year.

In my car I use the 70mai pro. Only cost £35 when on offer. Picture quality is excellent, better than the YI camera.

Compared to the nextbase 212 both these dash cams can record in higher definition, wider angle and have built in WiFi. You can download videos without taking the SD card out. Really handy feature.

Forgot to say what they don't have is GPS but it's not a feature I'd ever want.

If you're speeding, even just slightly say 33 in a 30, its an opportunity for the other person to blame you.

I still feel like this is better value for money. A dash cam is for your insurance company really. Most of the big insurers now ask you what company the dash cam is and offer a discount accordingly. Any insurer I've checked does not recognise Yi or will have it down as 'unspecified' or 'other', which offers less of a discount.

I'm looking to buy a next base after 3 years of having a Yi. The Yi was cheaper but the insurance saving is next to nothing. Using a nextbase by comparison saves me £30 a year. So whilst it is 'overpriced' to start, the savings easily make this worth it.

I've actually just renewed my insurance this week. I've priced around a lot with only two companies asking if I even had a dash cam. Never have I seen one ask for the manufacturer. The logic behind the manufacturer is ridiculous. I can guarantee the footage from either of my dash cams will be a more use in an accident than a 720p Nextbase.

So personally I don't see any saving from buying this over a YI but you've clearly had a different experience. Personally I'd rather have a better quality video incase something happens.

I'm most cases the quality of the video is not so important, it's only to show what happened. 720p may be poor but it will still show this. It's only in the case of a hit and run where you need to read a registration plate that you need better quality footage. Again I'd rather have a dash cam that will be capable of capturing this.

Yeah. I was meaning that personally I see it as a bit of a pointless feature.

I absolutely agree with you. In an ideal world the manufacturer wouldn't matter, only the qulaity. However having just checked with my insurer (AXA) it is substantially cheaper to have a nextbase. They have refunded me £51.00 for purchasing this!

Thank you OP
