Good buy...

I've recently been in a car accident where some old Twonk smashed into me while i was park!! He refused it was his fault! Got booked for dangerous driving and i still fork out the insurance 50/50 claim.

You need this nowadays as you can't trust anyone!

Gave some heat, looks good for price but I will stick with using my HTC One as a recording device for now.

You can get in car DVRs from sites such as Dealextreme for around £20. I fail to see how this can be worth the money being asked for?

The cheap cams do a decent job, here's a video from my £12 cam I bought from amazon.

This is a essentially a rebranded DOD LS430W. A good dashcam, but not particularly good value for money.

You can get similar or better video quality for £50 or less. Choose from A118, G1W, G1WH, G1W-C, Innovv C1 / C2 or Mobius. I've been using a Mobius for nearly a year. Highly recommended...

banggood seem to be out of stock in their UK warehouse so that would be china too. I recently ordered the mobius from the same eBay link, looking forward to playing with it when it arrives, reviews look excellent especially for the money.

It needs to capture enough detail that you can read the number plates, some so called "decent" cheap ones don't.

Agreed. The A118, G1W, G1WH, G1W-C, Innovv C1 / C2 or Mobius are all "decent" cheap cameras that fully comply with this requirement. The rest don't.

This has GPS though, which in the event of an accident will display you're speed too.... providing you aren't speeding

So if you are speeding it doesn't display your speed then?! Now that'd be a pretty neat feature! ;-)

I was thinking that having encryption on these dash cams would be a nice feature, that way in the event of an accident in which you suspect that you are the one at fault you could "forget" the decryption key and your own camera footage couldn't be used against you! ;-) Don't think any currently have this feature though.

Impressed with the Mobius. I like that it does not have to always be connected to a power supply. The videos looked very good. I would take issue though that it is similar for 50 quid less simply because it does not have a screen or GPS and the mount is extra.

I was referring to video quality, not the feature list. Anyone seeking measurably better video quality than the Mobius will need to budget around three times it's price for a Powerucc Panorama S, & it's superiority is only evident in low-light.

Mobius can be bought for £41. A mount is £3.

I brought one of these after being impressed with one of their in-car DVD players i brought on a deal - as far as im concerned you cant get better for the use as a dashcam. This is backed up by Which? Mag who gave it there best buy award, even when compared to ones 2-3 times as much. A 'one-for-all' will never beat a specific use product. As for buying things from China direct what a great idea... unlikely to have CE/quality and what do you do if it goes wrong, send it back to China?!
