Nexus 9 - Black or White @ Currys/PC World £199

Bank Holiday Offer: Save £100

Currys/PC World have matched the John Lewis price. John Lewis is offering a 2 year guarantee which this deal lacks. However.....John Lewis seem to be selling the 'old' first run units which had problems with the pwer/volume buttons, clicky backs and light bleed. If these units from Currys are the new 'fixed' ones I would say this is a better deal even if you don't get the 2 year guarantee.

How would you differentiate "new" from "old" version of Nexus 9 when buying?

Seems a good spec, heat added

also power button and volume button on the old version are much more set in to the body, the new one has more proud buttons which are more user friendly.

John Lewis seem to have got thir hands on a job-lot of the early units. They probably got them cheap as in my opinion they are defective with problems with the power and volume keys, a too thin bendy and clicky back and screen backbleed.

I would call the John Lewis stock seconds.....

Quick reminder if you wish to purchase the official case: hotukdeals.com/dea…456

16GB cold.

No I was interested in the Nexus but I didn't want a problem one...I saw that Amazon had the white one for £215. I also thought that was better than £199 for a 'second'.

Who cares about 'heat'...I'm too old - sorry

Anyone know of any deals on the 4G model?

Is the Meenova Dash compatible with this tablet at all? Also do you need to root the device in order to use it please

it does not support otg storage natively, requires a 3rd party app like nexus media importer or custom ROM.

also be aware that this still doesn't have the latest android release (5.1.1) despite being a nexus device, and Google have no release date for it.

I own one, and it's been an exercise in frustration, only yesterday I had to factory reset it as it would randomly lock up.

I paid 400 quid for mine though, at the 200 mark I probably wouldn't moan as much, in hindsight I should have just got a tab s or xperia.

the tab S is great on paper. poor on practicality (8.4")

Ok thanks for the advice it's all a wait and see game with tech ATM in regards toandroid release (5.1.1). I'll try to find a deal on tab s for now though

Looking for a "cheaper" tab to replace my 2013 Nexus 7. Get this or hold out a bit longer?

Yeah, same here. My Nexus 7 gets input lag which means I have to restart it frequently. It's starting to get to be an annoyance. Would love to know whether the Nexus 9 has similar issues or not.

+1. The Tab S is laggy and has crappy battery. Better off with the xperia.

luvadealme

why?

battery life - standby is max 3 days. the nexus I bought has drained 20% in 3 days standby.

speaker placement - speakers are muffled by your hands when you hold it in landscape mode.

capacitive buttons - when you hold it in landscape you constantly press the buttons which is very frustrating especially when browsing.

all three of these are fixed with the nexus 9. only loss is the sd card support but then I got the 32gb which has always been sufficient for me as I use Spotify and showbox.

I've just got the tab pro 8.4 for £150 (via John Lewis) and I still love it despite these issues (which I personal find reasonable minor and easy to adapt to).

Not too sure why peeps complaining about getting the first lot from jl. If you have a light bleed, use tablet for a year or so, go to the store and say there is a problem with a screen, you will get a replacement that will definitely be new revision or money back:) easy

Does root still void the warranty?? I am just trying to find an alternative way of doing this

Well if there is problem with nexus 9 JL will be happy to refund or give new one. Not sure PC World/Currys can do that.

I've got the Tab S 10.5 and my battery drops by maybe 1% every 24 hours in standby and when i pick it up again there are no sudden drops as the battery calibrates correctly. I generally get an hour per 10%.

I'm not entirely sure, I mean the Nexus brand as a whole are based around development and exploration of Android. I had a fault on my Nexus 6 after flashing my first ROM on there (faulty NAND) and Motorola sent me a brand new one.

I'm sure the 10.5 version is better. Ideally I should have got that In hindsight. But after playing with the nexus, it's size is exactly what I need as portability is more important for me.

No doubt they're reasonably minor....I just hate adjusting my needs for design flaws. I prefer to just replace. Just deciding now whether the surface 3 is the ideal tablet!

16GB???? call me when they make a 128GB version... or better yet put a micro SD card slot on this thing. I thought Google was supposed to be full of smart people??!!??

Went in store to have a play and really like the feel of the Nexus 9, over the other tablets even. I was assured they are the newer batch too. They'd sold out in store so I've ordered one for home delivery - will update which batch it's from once it's arrived. They are apparently selling fast though.

It still amazes me the way some people speak to other people on the Internet. Rude for the sake of being rude.thanks for posting this op. I didnt see the original thread so this has helped me. Heat added !

**** ... expired as JL no longer have the offer on .. So Currys cant match this price.
