"Thinking" of buying a Nexus 9? at a Gut Wrenchingly £299 to £400+ smackers - this may soften the blow a bit.

Get a free Chromecast and £50 of free entertainment (Or just buy a Washing machine for the OH as she DEMANDS!! )

Add both the Nexus 9 of choice and a Chromecast to your basket and £30 will be subtracted from the (outrageous) cost of £299 and "Beyond"

Almost missed this Deal as it was just a "Small Print" item on the page!
I would have been miffed!!

Was hoping to get a Nexus 10 when the price dropped ..... it never did, and now its old tech.
(still lush though) ...

...I have taken the plunge and dropped an inch .... oh and a Washing Machine !

NB: Please leave a comment Good or Bad... I love to know what other people value or not ... as do us all here at HUKD

Not for everyone this, but if you are going to Buy a Nexus 9 might as well get a freebie out of it.

Was going to post some pictures of the tablet, but once you have seen one you have seen them all ..

So instead I thought I would post a handful of throwaway cash instead - at least thats what the OH will say oO

Thanks - not Easy to spot to be honest. Nice to share

Nice spot but personally the 16gb is a non starter without the option to expand! But I won't pay £100 more to get an extra 16gb either! I can think of better ways to spend my £400!

Wow... I'd forgotten just how expensive the Nexus 9's were... just as well there's a few freebies.

Overpriced! 4:3 screen! Non expandable memory! Might as well buy an iPad! What were Google and HTC thinking? Guess the lack of sales have shown them....

I think best bet is to buy 32GB/LTE for £412 where RRP is £459.

I have to say I was bitterly disappointed with the cost of the new Nexus's both 6 and 9. oO
I am a fan of Android, as you probably guessed, and this is the unfettered version of the latest and greatest in Android tech.

For the kids, just get a reconditioned Hudl at Tesco's for £64 - there is a HUKD in here somewhere

Not joking about getting £30 pounds of a Nexus9 and getting a Chromecast + £50 Extras for free though (_;)

this tablet has much further to fall, they aren't selling I bet.

£100 for 16GB! They should be giving you 6 chromecasts for free.

Rubbish tablet. At least the N7 was reasonable. The iPad is by far superior and the amount of top quality apps for it leave the Nexus lagging far far behind, which tends to have a laggy rubbish equivalent designed for Froyo!

Out of interest which apps? I use android and ios tablets regularly at work, and the only real difference I see in apps is that a lot of free ones on android aren't great but the paid ones are just as good but cheaper than apple.

Of all the tablets we have I prefer the nexus 7, was such a shame that the 9 costs so much.

Yep. 16gb fills up pretty quickly these days. Such a pain to have to delete stuff just to make room.
Budget and mid range tablets have got so much better lately that I can't see myself paying this sort of money on a tablet unless it is something really special.

LOL

I looked at this as had the nexus 6 but so few of my apps worked on the nexus 6 I ended up selling the 6 and getting a sony z3 compact as kit Kat is more stable. Shame I liked the premise of this but got iPad instead as it just works a little better.

And the cost of extra memory on these I thought they were supposed to compete wit Apple not copy them on cost.

Looks like the Google strategy of selling 'must have' premium devices at little or no profit has come to an end. 16gb with no microsd expansion is a joke and the 32gb costs more than I'm prepared to pay. Google aren't going to sell many of them at these prices. Low cost, quality windows 8.1 tablets (soon to be win 10) that can do so much more, are beginning to look more attractive by the week.

This really needs a official price drop!

I was excited about the Nexus 9 when I first heard rumours about it and when the specs and price came out, I couldn't believe how they'd basically wrecked the Nexus concept. The price is simply stupid (taking a cue from Apple) and the 4:3 aspect ratio is utterly lunatic if you play games or watch any videos (another bad idea from Apple).

I got an LG G Pad 8.3 instead, which is a great tablet for use on the move (well, once you get CyanogenMod 12 on it - doesn't everyone do that on Android tablets? :-) ).

Fair deal for people that must have a Nexus 9, but £299 would be much better spent on the Nvidia Shield Tablet 32GB with 4G, IMHO.

It amazes me how much hate there is for the Nexus 9........

All the comparisons to the iPad basically boil down to the iOS / Android preference. The Nexus line was initially criticised for making no money and killing off other brands by being a loss-leader, and now they've gone up market it gets attacked too (mainly for instabilities in Android, oddly enough).

Yes, I own one.... No, I didnt pay RRP - But then, no one does surely? ;-)

Whoa.... Easy buddy. No real hate for this piece of tech. Just some really good competition in the android tablet market right now. Discounted or refurbs going at a fraction of the price.

No it doesn't! Simple problem with the N9 is it is too much like a iPad in design. I pre ordered one when they were announced, then reports started coming through about the screen shape and I was hoovering over the cancel button and then when the price was confirmed as ridiculous as it was then it was bye bye N9. I wouldn't even consider buying an iOS device - the hate for the N9 is that it contains everything that's wrong with Apple hardware for me I don't want black bars and reduced screen size when watching media, I also want somewhere to store my media and so I purchased a Z3 Compact LTE tablet which is similarly pricey but gives me the features I wanted and a load of bonus ones to boot.

Google really messed up with the Nexus 6 and 9 after hitting the sweet spot with 5 and 10. A lot of excitement and anticipation especially for the tablet after the 10 but the changes were too drastic for most, I think. Don't think they ever announce their projections or sales but I bet it's a lot lower than they would've wanted on both.
Anyway, I ended up getting a 7 inch Windows tablet after the Nexus 9 was announced. Cost under £60. Don't regret it one bit. Sure the Nexus 9 runs great but the size, screen and price were a disappointment for me.

BTW, good to see the OP is fine with positive and negative comments. Threads tend to be informative this way and there's little or no flame wars.

Great find, and is suppose to be a great tablet. I am looking for one, but the price is still far too high for me to justify.

I have noticed that Amazon.es is selling the Nexus 9 at a lower price, but has no offers.

I've been looking at the LTE version, which is running in at £412 on Amazon.co.uk (plus the chromecast and -£50 voucher as shown in this post)

On Amazon.es just the tablet (as there are no offers) is running in at £390 (after the conversion using XE.com). Depends if you need the chrome cast and use the £50 voucher.

The price difference may vary on other versions of the Nexus 9.

I have both a Nexus 9 and an iPad Air.

If you are not invested in either ecosystem then the iPad is undoubtedly the superior tablet, but if you have purchased a large number of Android apps then the Nexus isn't a bad device. Here is my short review:

Screen - It does have a little light bleed, but it is generally very nice (almost as good as the iPad). Size is a personal choice.
Battery - Standby time is much worse than the iPad, but this is more down to iOS vs Android. Screen on time is also a little better on the iPad too.
Speakers - Front facing, fairly good quality stereo speakers make for a good media experience. This isn't the case with many tablets, so it is a positive. The iPad speaker is a tiny bit more refined, but not stereo or front facing.
Build quality - the iPad is certainly better built. My main issue with the Nexus is it's very shallow power and volume buttons. Double tap to wake the screen does alleviate this somewhat.
App ecosystem - Tablet apps are catching up on Android, but you still have a better experience on iOS generally.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but I think Quidco are doing 5% cashback through Amazon. Not sure if it will work with this offer, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Even though I could afford the silly price I'm sticking with my Nexus 7 for no other reason than it fits in my pocket whereas the 9 does not.

The nexus 7's were brilliant and value for money, Google dropped a major clanger with the 9 by over pricing it, like others I'm using linx win 8.1 tablets now.

Notability and Goodreader are two I use a lot. IOS apps and games are just better. The iPad hardware is better too. I'm not spending 300 on a N9 just to surf the web.

I was recently looking at upgrading my 2012 Nexus 7 and can't understand why google dropped the 7 and 10 Nexus models.
I love having official google devices for the the latest os updates, but they priced themselves out and lost one of the best general use tablet sizes. 7-8 inch is the sweet spot for me. Small enough to carry around and slip into a pocket (admittedly coat) but big enough to be useable as a tablet.

Real shame as the Moto G proved google still had it with bang for buck then they lose the tablet range.

Almost agree with everything. However......

Not all suffer from light bleed. Mine dosnt at all. And i find the screen size perfect.

Speakers are defo superior to the ipad's.

And personally find the 16gb enough. I use dropbox for pics, i stream movies/music and if i do fancy taking some films with me, i'll just put the ones on i want and delete when watched.

The buttons stick out as far as ipad ones-dont see any issue there either.

The fact ive kept the nexus as long as i have, tells you how much i rate it. Samsung tab s lasted 2 months-cant stand all the samsung crap apps you cant delete and constant updates and awfull colouring on everythjing.

Sony xperia z was good but floored, galaxy tab 2 dated, and ipad air (1) good but as i got a 4g for a bargain, sold it on for profit.

Daughters ipad air 2 is admittedly good, but wouldnt swap android for ios- do like lollipop alot.
