Mentioned on post 55 from AK Gunners:

For info, HMV Oxford Street have a huge poster outside saying it will be available from Monday 16th and will include £15 Google Play vouchers. Sorry if someone else mentioned this, haven't read all the thread.

iPad 2 for sure!

This.

Well an iPad 2 would definitely be better, but it's not exactly a little bit more is it, £190 vs £300.

It's by using the old student card - unfortunately no longer available. As @Mikey91 said on another thread, they stopped taking them instore but never cancelled them online!

Alot of people on the Ebuyer deal are saying that Ebuyer have changed the order status to pick in process, which to some people mean they are packaging the item ready for dispatch.

If this is true, and I have to wait over a week (and likely longer with Currys being hapless cretins) then...

HULK SMASH!!

Is it possible to watch flash videos on this device?

When do they charge? immediately or on dispatch? THanks in advance

Hopefully its on dispatch, as my yahoo answer said. £169.99 for me! Bonus. £20 cheaper. Thanks

Do you get the £15 play credit if you order from HMV?

I was thinking the 16gb nexus (£200) or an iPad2 referb from apple (£259), when they become available again

i second that

http://images.macrumors.com/article-new/2012/07/tablet_size_comparison.jpg

iPad Mini is out in September. 40% bigger screen, 7.8" display.

The 7" Fire and Nexus display isn't good for anything.

Student discount cannot be acquired anymore without an old HMV student card.

They are pretty different. More high quality tablet apps on the ipad at present but it will be less customisable. Neither run flash and both have 16GB of non-expandable storage on both takes one positive away from what android normally have. There is a 3 inch size difference, too, so it would depend if you will use it mainly at home or carry it in your bag every day. Personally, I think an ipad2 for £259 is a better deal than this at £189.99 because of the apps. If you can get it for £169.99 with the student discount then I may favour the nexus. Google are apparently making very tiny margins on this tablet so I doubt if any of the Chinese tablets will be better value.

I might have picked this up wrong but I think the student discount is something people registered on their account a while ago and still attaches itself to each transaction they put through giving them the discount, but you wouldn't be able to sign up for it now.

Totally different devices imo.

Nexus 7:

Open platform
Compact 7" display
16:10 aspect ratio
USB OTG
Latest updates on day 1, no waiting
Newer marketplace/less apps & games
Front facing camera only
Rooting/custom roms
£190

iPad:

Open platform vs Closed environment
Larger 10" display
4:3 aspect ratio
No expandable option
Updates until Apple drop support
Well established appstore/more apps & games
Front & rear cameras (although very poor quality)
Jailbreak to unshackle the device/add UI customizations.
£260

The nexus 7 can play flash just fine. Just install the flash apk. It WONT however work in the chrome browser so use Firefox or ICS browser+ etc

You did spot the word rumoured in your graphic right?

Stop tempting me HUKD...............

Cheers OP, just ordered, been waiting for a deal that matched the Curry's one that I missed out on due to waiting a few days for a cancellation confirmation from Google for my original order!

Anyone know if you get the £15 google play voucher with this?

K1LLER HORNET

Anyone know if you get the £15 google play voucher with this?

HMV don't mention it on the site but there seems to be rumours that all devices ordered before a certain date will get it and as ebuyer are advertising the £15 voucher it doesn't just seem to be direct from Google.

K1LLER HORNET

Anyone know if you get the £15 google play voucher with this?

Not been confirmed anywhere AFAIK but I would imagine the answer to that one is no, Google wouldn't manage to sell any themselves if it wasn't an exclusive promo due to their P&P charges.

This is £20 cheaper + Quidco than Google are charging so I would rather lose the £15 voucher + Transformers movie and save real money.

good things come to those who wait.

i will wait for 7" tablet with sd card slot.it's coming soon .

Yep il get one from hmv for sure.
