I get the fact that the country is grateful to the NHS workers but surely …I get the fact that the country is grateful to the NHS workers but surely when choosing a profession working with ill human beings they must have accepted they might contract diseases I mean that’s their job and they get paid for it ?

No, I never accepted that I will contract a disease because there should be levels of protection, if I can't look after myself, who do you think is going to look after you?

If you chose to be a midwife, or a surgeon or on a cancer ward or paediatrics or othopaedics, you didn't choose to be on the frontline of infectious disease. Have a bit of sense.

I genuinely hope you don't have a relative or friend that gets this badly. I do. They have 3 members of the family currently hospitalised, 1 in intensive care.
Have some respect for people who are going to work knowing that they may get something that will kill them.

Looks irresponsible to me

Not half as irresponsible as letting them use the Tube. Ain't no chance of social isolation on there.

NHS staff need to be isolated from the idiot public as much as possible for 2 reasons:
1. They're more likely to catch it
2. They're more likely to be carriers

That’s pretty awesome.
Yeah, if uber starts using self driven cars maybe. Drivers should stay at home.
Kinda pointless when it doesn't let me sign up using my NHS account because my mobile number is in use in an old Uber account.
Previous campaign I was sent a code to my nhsmail address... so for this one do I have to create a new account with my nhs email?

Seems like a lot of faff. Surprised they aren't doing it like the Xmas promo
Nice gesture for the NHS staff, but not so much for their drivers.

This should be illegal! So NHS staff who are most vulnerable to catch the Corona virus decide to take these free rides, passing the virus onto the Uber driver who then passes it on to their families as well as all future customers too! Govt should ban these type of offers!

You make it sound as if they're getting paid some sort of danger money when their wages actually aren't special at all. Clown.
What about outsourced NHS contracted staff
Are they providing any of the drivers with ppe surely the virus will spread further
No problem with them doing this. But again.. What about the carers, shop workers etc. They all working with high risks of transmission for minimum wage. When they do go sick, which is inevitable, they are on £94 a week - the reward for carrying on working while most the country is paid nearly full wages to chill.

The reward.. Minimum wage frozen. In it together my backside.

Not a pop at NHS, but I do think millions are missed because of the intense focus.

As above. Much riskier having them infect an entire tube train.
Not to mention much higher chance of being infected.

Lots could say ban Uber drivers outright for various reasons but hey ho. Uber drivers sure could choose to work or not, if they're working they are already putting their families at risk be it an NHS worker or a factory worker

Agree but this is just a publicity stunt by Uber. They are effectively helping to spread the virus the wallopaahs!

Brilliant Idea. Get into a car from a company that has no licence in London, with a vehicle that is unlikely to have been cleaned inbetween rides, and sit within 2 metres of the driver.
It’s totally irresponsible for health reasons and it’s a PR move ahead of 7 April tribunal being held on 1 billion plus owed in VAT. I would have more respect if you pulled up these Tax avoiding companies for the parasites they are.
One of the reasons the NHS is in dire straights is because of companies like Uber not paying their taxes. Amazing what 10 "free"rides & 5 free meals can buy these days.
I wonder how many ventilators could be bought with the amount off tax they avoid paying!. Happy to advocate putting drivers health at risk mixing with NHS staff who are routinely exposed to covid.

Some taxi drivers will continue to work whilst having symptoms. They are self employed and have no immediate financial aid. It is irresponsible but at the same time , they are just trying to provide for their family.

Please think before you write. You prefer NHS staff to not go to work and you can take care yourself of the infected members of the family?

No such outcry when our soldiers get shot, and no hero treatment or respect for them when losing colleagues doing the work we don’t want to. All this NHS freebies is about marketing and associating product with people saving lives and hoping it rubs off. These companies should be looking after their own staff and encouraging social distancing, not putting them at risk having them in an enclosed area risk driver and passenger alike.

Not at all but if stupid companies like Uber are offering this to the NHS staff then do you think this will slow the progression of the virus of accelerate it? If big companies like Uber do this then there is no way UK will be able to combat the virus.
All black cabs should offer a free service or a discounted rate to NHS staff since they cabs are protected unlike uber cars.
Please think of the bigger picture here before jumping to conclusions.
Cold deal. No key workers included just hype

OK, but that's like saying two wrongs make a right.
Right now, we need to get ALL NHS staff off the tube and buses. For their health and for the health of those around them.

I don't disagree that it would be better if they used black cabs.
how do I get this?
