This set contains sci-fi action thriller NIGHT WATCH and its sequel DAY WATCH, both made by Russian director Timur Bekmambetov.
NIGHT WATCH is an old-fashioned good vs. evil parable that relies on some thoroughly modern special effects to ensnare its audience. Set in present-day Moscow, the movie begins with a quick skip back through the centuries to inform us how a delicate truce was struck between the forces of Light and Dark. These forces still exist in Moscow, with both sides keeping a close eye on each other as they attempt to disguise themselves from the earth's mere mortals. NIGHT WATCH's central character is Anton Gorodetsky (Konstantin Khabensky), who is defined as an 'Other' by the legions of Light and Dark. Anton and his cohorts live as vampires, and await the arrival of a virgin who will announce the resumption of hostilities between the forces of Light and Dark; as the film progresses, it becomes apparent that an epic battle is just around the corner.
DAY WATCH centres on an epic battle between forces of good and evil. An uneasy truce has kept the armies at bay for centuries, but that peace is about to end, and it will pit vampires, psychics, and witches against one another. Both factions, the Day Watch and the Night Watch, have beings of extraordinary power called 'Great Others', and if these two people meet, a supernatural war will begin. Anton Gorodetsky (Konstantin Khabensky) finds himself torn between his son, the dark side's Great Other, and the woman he loves, the champion for the Light Others. DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) explodes in the mind-bending space between THE MATRIX and UNDERWORLD.

Good price for both movies and worth a watch despite the major differences from the books.

There have been some complaints about the subtitles on these versions. They are not the 'cg' ones that were in the original cuts, but the sound impared versions. Not a massive issue but for those of us that dont speak russian its a pain.

Crazy stuff.

There should be a Twilight Watch I think.

Still hot

Won't be Timur doing it do to the lure of the dollar.

The creative use of subs really add a lot to this film IMHO

I put Play info in the main blurb:roll:
Amazon??? £1.45 postage:?

These films not only lack the 'CG' subtitles (only available on DVD for Night Watch on the 2-Disc 'cinematic' version - no Day Watch DVD has them to my knowledge) - they also lack 'normal' English subtitles!!

All that's available are "English for Hard of Hearing" subtitles which means that as well as dialogue you get things like [MUSIC PLAYS] or [ENGINES REVVING] etc. - and the English dub is grim (all dubs are grim tbh)

The 2-disc Night Watch is a must really - you also get Timur's commentary which is excellent...

Bekmembatov is reported to be working on a 3rd film - fresh from the fan-*******-tasticness of Wanted I can't wait myself

It was originally supposed to be a trilogy, but after Night Watch came out, they decided just to do the two films. So I was expecting no more mad Russian movies in this series.

IMDB says differently, and lists a Twilight Watch.

Banned

good stuff http://www.avatarjunkie.net/cimg/20c9f5700da1088260df60fcc5df2b53.gif

Twilight Watch is rumored to be an American film with American actors tho which is a disgrace, remake them all into American ones if you want but atleast do Twilight Watch in russian and then remake all three

not usually a fan of subtitle movies... cause well... im lazy.... but really enjoyed these 2!

8/10s

night watch good
day watch bad

Good films!

Supurb films. Got them originally on DVD and have just ungraded and bought them on Bluray. The Bluray versions have a full english dub of both films. I think it detracts from the film if you have to constantly read the bottom of the screen.

Сумеречный дозор / Twilight Watch / Nightwatch 3 / Dusk Watch is currently in production and is being filmed in English as the americans have realised just how good the films are. Fox is financing!

Looking forward to it.
